Issue 13 base price change concerns
Hi gang,
The Community Team has certainly heard you loud and clear about your concerns with the change to salvage and the re-pricing of base items. At this time, the earliest I anticipate having some further dev input on the subject would be later in the week. There are a number of competing priorities and I can only thank you for your patience.

Provisionally good news - it looks like they're at least reconsidering things here.

Well it did need reconsidering.

Our SG has a huge base, a few months ago, after i12 broke the maze, I spent a couple of weeks totally rebuilding it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Know the feeling. We have a huge base too (and that a base can hold infinite amount of items is not advisable to try ) last halloween we tried to upgrade our base (again) and our Architect made some pretty nifty rooms. The entire base (we have also dubbed it "The Maze") went poof 5 times.
Oh well guess our architects wont mind that refund thing and let the base stand.
Our wish though is more choice of items we can place. So unless the Devs gives us more items I doubt "the maze" will get a revamp due to the refund.
[/ QUOTE ]
No really - we litterally have a maze in a 'great room', not sure what other folks rent is but 200K every couple of weeks is pretty steep IMO. That's beside the point - to plan and build a maze or any large/complicated structure takes time and effort, would be a shame for potential 'raidable' bases to be gutted for the reward say of advancing in the SG rankings.
We are fortunate enough to have everything we want out of our base and the prestiege to pay the rent for a long time to come - therefore the only real reason we earn prestiege these days is to try and advance our rank
Lets hope the devs see the light and reconsider - bases need more love not less!

Hehe Guffy.. Prestigewise its the same with us
Personally i love the "look in peoples eyes" well their comments when we give them a little tour around the base. As they become members.
and more over (due to my evil streak).. love hearing about people getting lost in the base ;D

Guffy, you're wasting 200K per month by paying every week. If you ignore the rent message for a further two weeks after it lights up, your services aren't turned off until a total of 28 days after last base rent payment. Hope this helps, as it's what the NHU base (of which myself and Lady_Arete are members) do, and it's saved us millions.
Yea.. only pay when the lights go out (and get a timer on it)

Ok - so let me get this straight:
We have to sell what we have, and put the exact same item *back* where it was, just to reclaim prestige that we went out of our way to earn, and rightly deserve to have returned to us, with the prices being lowered?
And - just so I'm clear... items that came from crafted salvage...do we have to re-craft them? Elite Turrets take TEN Unstable Rad Pistols EACH - that's a LOT of influence just to re-buy salvage that I didn't want to re-buy (so odds are I'm *not* going to be re-crafting the turrets just to reclaim a bit of inf...)
My SG has gone from meeting on the roof of a skyscraper in Steel Canyon, to slowly scraping together prestige for a small base, and then expanding on both that and our SG as time has progressed. Our development as a group is partially reflected by the expansion of our base. It is, to us, a big part of our Super Group as a whole. I agree with the previous posts - this is only encouraging new base builders - it's a spit in the face of those that have put the effort in over the years. For a game that rewards its veteran players, this is a cheap workaround...

its also worth remembering that the salvage is changing as well well, ok not to much changes as they are bining the idea of base salvage and replacing it with plane old invantion salvage tho they havent given us any details on how this will work yet so i wouldnt make any plans with bases and the likes untill we know a whole lot more about whats actuly going to be happening and how it will be implimented

If I understand this correctly, out SG will have a problem. We have a wonderful, great and huge base designed by someone that is not online anymore. And I think we have no one in the SG with base designing skills, at least at the same level our beloved designer had. I'll whine for a while, until becoming hysterical.

Welcome to base building in CoX. We have been waiting 2 years for a million prestige that went missing and was promised to be returned soon.
Ok admittedly I've not read every post in this thread but some thoughts occur:
1) What happens to crafted base items I've had to make?
2) I know a lot of people would do a LOT more with their bases IF the UI was up to scratch. If the Devs give the UI a tweak then personally I'll be happy to have a revamp of my bases.
3) It seems to me that the Devs have given us a few tweaks since we could first have bases but this is the first time we've actually seen a serious makeover to them. Let's see what happens first but... cautionary note:
4) Are we gonna have to use really rare Magic salvage to make stuff?

I personally like this change. What was wrong was the way things were, more than are now. When people started getting into all this everyone can see that building up to the best possible enormous base wasn't achieve-able without looking for exploits and in trying it seemed to immorally aim to cost people too much in real terms.
I don't know whether you can sell and buy back in or over your own time or have to hit it within a window of opportunity.
Longterm, with what maybe the only solution this is better. Whether or not its in a place where someones SG can achieve "everything" I wouldn't know, but it's definitely better!
I go into most peoples bases and find that they're not utilizing the plot in the most economical manner. Space costs prestige and people are throwing it away on unused space every month. Could be a good time to spring clean.
I would if I was them offer another 20000 prestige bonus per member when it comes out again so that there is a little more arm twisting, palm wetting, back handing for villains and simple <3 <3 <3, deal sweeteners, perks, for heroes for any unfortunate inconvenience.
For me though the change is good!

Didnt understand a word of that to be honest, could you explain that again.
Im just not seeing the "better" in having to waste untold boring hours recrafting everything just to get a refund on base items.
Not to mention the loss of all the salvage it took to craft those items.
Im also not seeing the "good" in changing the salvage from something that basically people are happy to drop off for the good of the base, because its not much good to them, for invention salvage which is worth slightly more (in its most common form)and of course is useful to them.
Thusly making it harder to get sg members to drop it off.
Well, scrap and rebuild ?
I´got 5 Bases were i´m building. The biggest of those got over 1700 Pices. I spent atleast 200 Hours bilding and rebilding the bases. Wenn they think that i will scrap all of that then they are realy stupit.
I´ve whaitet Years for an baseubdate. Up till now the only thing they sad was that the would change the price of bilding and sag the basesalvage.
I think nothing more is coming in I13.
The Base are and always will be the foster kids of CoX -_-

I agree that when I see other people's bases, I wonder if they're even aware of what they *could* be doing with them. Some of them are just large rooms on large plots without a single good use of any of them. We've always sworn to make ours functional first, decorative later - mainly because originally we really had to scrape together prestige for each tiny upgrade - getting an extra telepad required celebration, back when the SG was small. Now we can have an entire weapons system overhaul and not bat an eyelid!
It might be good for *some* people to have a spring clean - but what about those of us who just want our bases to stay as they are? Those that have already *put* the work in to make the best use of their base?

I think the official response from the posts on the septic forums has been along the lines
"If your base is great as it is then leave it, you dont need to dismantle. The refunds are there if the effort of rebuilding is less than your need for prestige"
Personally I'd hope they could just refunded the difference without dismantling but since they haven't done that I assume its quite difficult or time intensive. Since Castle has posted hinting at base changes being linked to CoP/Base Raids etc I quite like the idea of giving a prestige grant per member (as last time) as a sneck lifter and to try and "sell" base raiding to those who may be close to taking the plunge
Kneeling girls! Statues driving cars! What's going on? Ten years ago a man was arrested in the area for driving statues around in a car. Was it him?

Those two things aren't exclusive, though - you could have a beautifully laid out base that's used all your prestige and would be a nightmare to rebuild and lots of other things you'd like to add if you had more to spend.
"Since Castle has posted hinting at base changes being linked to CoP/Base Raids etc..."
But if that's the case, I'm going to want all of that 'lost' prestige to upgrade my defences...

Yep, don't get me wrong I'm not saying "hard cheese" myself, I've been following this states-side as I'm interested to see what happens. My little 8x8 plot has taken some time to set up and I'm not looking forward to stripping it down again, especially with the salvage/component changes and the amount of Enhancements/Respites/Salvage I have unceremoniously dumped in there.
It is quite nice to know that the option is there though.
As I said, Since castle seems to be planning something a boost per SG member would be a lovely gesture.

Yeah, I've been following the US stuff too, and aren't at all impressed by what little the red names are saying. In particular Castle's statement that:
[ QUOTE ]
It's technically not a feasable option to offer rebates on what you have.
[/ QUOTE ]
struck a wrong note.
Not a practically feasible option I could believe, if not like - limited staff resources, after all, even though I can't see setting up automatic refunds being that big a job overall.
Not technically feasible, though? It'd involve updating one or two database fields according to the values of one or two other database fields, and that's a pretty basic thing to do in any database system. The only remotely technical issue I can see is if the size of the tables involved were so large the update script would need more time to run than the servers are offline for in the course of the Issue update.
If that was the case the script could always be developed so it was runnable incrementally - all the functional items at Issue update, all the decorative items next maintenance downtime, something along those lines.
Edit: Fixed typo
I think the important part of that post by Lighthouse was the "it is what it is" bit, which as we all know means end of.
At least they didnt just delete the thread over there.

You've gone and done what I wouldn't of done. Spent untold boring hours doing something that took up time that could of been better used elsewhere. Some things require more than bite sized playing and cut into family life and social life a bit too much and building towards the biggest base possible does that. I wouldn't of bought into it. It's hours spent on something I couldn't hold, hours lost on something I can't keep and time for other people and self I couldn't get back. Getting to the biggest possible base needs to be far less time consuming.
If you've built a big base, then you should have a lot of people and so 20K per person should more than make up for troubles and create a further jump to the goals people want. I'd rather plug for that than complain.

Im still not understanding that, anyway dont worry.
It dosent matter what you would or wouldnt do, because obviously this remake of bases to get a prestige refund dosent effect you.
And no i havent spent untold boring hours doing anything, i quite enjoy base building, but i wouldnt appreciate doing it again just because these people cant run a script to refund prestige.
If you read what i said, you would see that i am saying that its unfair making people who HAVE put the effort into building a big, small, huge, whatever base, dismantle it.
