Costume Slot Expansion Pack
Not sure I'd go for it myself, but seems like a reasonable idea.
As a side issue, if this did go in it'd make an even stronger case for there being a "costume slot to show in toon selection screen" setting. (More costumes = less chance of the first one being the one you want to use)

Add in "option to have more than one VEAT costume" and I'm in.
I really should do something about this signature.
Disclaimer: It would be nice to be able to get more costume slots, especially before level 20. I'd like to be able to do this, but my programmer urges are itching and I have to point out a few things...
Well... that's a lot of programming in a load of areas to get it working.
To simplify things, might I suggest that some form of account-wide "character slot token" be bought, ratehr than selecting where the slots go on the selection screen. You would add a slot to a character by redeeming one of these tokens while logged in. Perhaps through Icon.
You are looking at totally redesigning the costume selection interface. It's horribly clumsy with 5 costume slots (or even 4). Give a maximum of 20 and it is simply going to be crazy.
I'm thinking you would need to do it as a large image box showing a big view of the costume, with a list of available costume slots beside it with thumbnails. They would need to add a facility to tag each slot with a note, because it's bad enough trying to spot the right costume with the current interface, thumnails would drive you crazy. Plus, of course, they would need to switch costumes on a button press, not when the list item was selected. Selection would just display the costume in the big image box.
Personally, I'd vote yes to this just because they'd have to redesign that horrible costume selection interface.

Checking out my wallet here. This will be so expensive. I need 10 cossies for each and every one of my characters!

I figured a maximum of 10 slots per character as I think you could do a double layer of the existing costume select bar on a screen. Any bigger and it would need scrolling or pages.

Humbly, I think that's going to look dreadful and they'd be better off redesigning the thing. You've already put a huge amount of work into this adding stuff to the character selection screen. Might as well do it properly.
Hmmm.... or why not just add 'Recipe: Costume Slot'...

That definitely has merit as well.

I am very much in support of this idea, even if I can see it resulting in my own private "credit crunch" from all the slots I would be buying.
If they gave you an animation for when you changed cossies would that satisfy your thirst for more cossies? Im happy with just the 5! If i had 20... id slowly start dressing myself like all my other alts...
Erm would be nice if SG's had their own costume slot that are given to characters automaticly as they join so it doesn't affect our clothing when we go into SG mode...

"Aoi" Scrapper : Kat/SR

More costume slots yes please.
Reading through Ravens posts I used to think all his ramblings on programming issues regarding sugeestions were doomsaying, but in reality the more i read the more sense he makes (specifically since he knows more about the subject than me and that is a lot ) and considering he actually isnt saying "god your idea suxorz!" its all very informed and realistic.
To cut a long post short (im trying to waste time at work) if the problems he states to the amount of slots viewable or other issues could be toned down i would for one advocate this, but to reiterate, how much of a development issue would it be to set the costume viewer ingame to a scroll setting, if it was to encompass say a max of ten?

Sometimes you just *need* more slots. My blaster is an example. With the five we get, I can have most of the ones that will work;
Fully armoured, no helmet, no helmet and glasses, casuals, casuals and glasses.
Only problem is, I need some that work for armour in SG mode to, as simply turning the colours on really doesnt work.
More slots? Yes Plz thx
And YES to the more VEAT costumes option (although hopefully thats in I13 anyhow)
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Being fair to myself and others... sometimes I'm probably just doomsaying, but mostly I'm trying to inject some element of realism when someone comes out with the immortal "I can't see why it would be hard to..." phrase.
In this case, while I have more than enough slots on most of my male characters, the female ones could probably do with a few more. More specifically, more earlier, so I can't say 'no, it's too much work' to this. I just think if they were going to do it, it would be a good idea to overhaul the costume selection system at the same time.

Definitely, more costume slots plz! I especially like the idea of a costume-transition effect, be it an anime-style "flaming-battle-aura-I-must-succeed-guaaaaaaa" effect, good ole fashioned Wonder-twirl-on-spot, lightning crackle, etc.

Aye reason i quoted you was it seems that that immortal line of "i cant see how hard it would be" is not in my opinion said in ignorance per se, but through lack of understanding, if something was so easy to be implemented without some major over haul i would imagine it would be applied much sooner than waiting for a new issue to add in the content or having a full patch.
I just think more people could do with standing back and looking at the criticism they get for their suggestions not as unfounded and harsh, but more a constructive method of helping them understand the game mechanics so they can rethink their suggestion to become more accesable for realistic implementation.
But as per your last comment regarding an overhaul of the costume system as a whole, i would applaud anything that would increase my options of expanding my characters repetoire, especially the ability for an extra veat slot.
id also love to see a mr ben alike toon following you round to give the option of random costumes delivered in a very stiff upper lip british accent "i cant see how hard that would be"
(above post edited for sarcasm)

Although it would seem like a lot of work to do, it would probably boost sales enough to justify it. I know I would fall victim to it probably multiple times.
Okay, so given that microtransactions appears to be the way that things are going and with the announcement of possible costumes for civilian clothing, its about time I got down an idea thats been knocking around my brain for ages.
The Fashion Victim Expansion Pack
The pack gives 20 costume slots that can be distributed across as many of your toons as you like up to a maximum of 10 costumes per character. They can be allocated from the character selection screen in the same way that we can now pay for a respec or add more character slots.
As an added bonus, there could be a small animation that plays for changing costume, selectable from either a flash of light or a black smudge (to suit dark or light characters). This could be turned off in the options screen though in case it got annoying.
The only downside I can imagine is that the costume slots we obtain at levels 20, 30 and 40 (10 for VEATS) would become less special. However, there could be a cap on how many costume slots can be allocated per ten levels.
Levels 1 10 = 3 costumes (one base, one Halloween salvage, one bought),
levels 10 20 = 4,
levels 20 30 = 6,
levels 30 40 = 7 and
levels 40 50 = 10.
So reaching each of those levels still has a bonus associated with it as doing to tailor mission raises the cap on how many costume slots you can apply to your character.
Please feel free to leave constructive comments. Thanks!
