Or, to give an actually valid answer: no, the way the temporal mechanics works in this game, if you went back to when Dinosaurs were, you'd never be able to get back to now.

[/ QUOTE ]
This assumes:

1) The in character explanation of temporal mechanics is entirely truthful

2) There are no alternative mechanisms available.

3) Dinosaurs can't be brought forward in time to meet us in the more recent past (or present, or future!).

4) Cloned dinosaurs won't ever appear.

[/ QUOTE ]

Soo how did Godzilla come in to Co-existance then?
What about like in Champions Online? Where they have Robotic Dinosaurs? Ever thought about that?
Or how bout even a miniture golf zone?

In Any case Cimerora is an interesting zone gotta love the Imperious Task Force

I have to say, Cimerora is excellent - it has more character than almost any other zone.

If this is what updates are going to be like from now on then hurrah! Also, since time travel is playing such a big part in the game at the moment can we have some dinosaurs? =p

[/ QUOTE ]

Never mind dinosaurs - I want medieval stuff - knights and dragons and witches and things

But yes, Cimerora is a great zone - and I'm hoping we get some Roman building maps to go with the cave maps when I13 brings more zone content.

There's good cliche and there's bad cliche, and "CoH does Jurassic Park" is bad cliche. So there.

i don't mind killing of some t-rexes and stegosaurus, and with raptors as a smart group of hunters.(not a bad idea even, maybe nice for a I14 or I15.

You get a no-badge. For not reading carefully... I said CoH.

Plus, no dinosaurs.

Well, technically since both games have been merged, CoH now refers to CoV too, and encompasses both sides. No more CoX for any of us I guess.

Well, until I can take War Crow over to The Abyss and do battle with dinosaurs (preferrably a raptor pack) I still say that it's irrelevent. So there.

After all it surely cannot be a coincidence that we get temporal power scaling ONLY while using good old mender silos crystals and no scaling whatsoever when using the midnight squads crystal is it?

Surely it isnt a *you know what* plot to stop us going so far back/forward to find out his true purpose and reveal him as NOT the saviour of the world (the title which he craves)

Just to throw in my 2inf.... I fully endorse the addition of Dinosaurs, but only if they are wearing Fez's and have red laser beam eyes.

I'm sure Dead Calm will be along at some point to add his endorsement as well.

Well what about a zone, maybe an island for talking's sake, where there were dinosaurs and er... a giant ape... that's original...right?? And maybe the giant ape escapes and ends up in Steel Canyon, maybe climbs up a building, and we all know what happens next... yup you guessed, it gets defeated by an Italian plumber!!
"Didn't I see you at the ape escape?" Wild Cards anyone?? Except for the plumber, dunno where that came from.

It could carry a screaming Statesman to the top of the big statue in Blyde Square, while Positron stood at the bottom, wondering if he should save him or not

Not really. Barbarians have been the ultra awesome posterboy a***kickers leading the fantasy charge for ages. Where you get mages, there has to be barbarians to even things out.

By killing them of course.

Oh yes, there were loads of dragons in the medieval age. Why, Agincourt would have been totally different if the English Dragon Corp hadn't turned up in the nick of time to roast the serried ranks of French Witches!

Are you mental?

There's medieval fantasy, and there's fantasy fantasy - barbarians belong to the fantasy fantasy section - or ancient fantasy

So yes, you are mental. I can't imagine, now you've pointed it out, how I managed to get something so obviously ridiculous as barbarians mixed in with dragons and orcs and unicorns, you complete lunatic.

It's all to do with the right period setting - historical fantasies are like alternate universes, which means that it's based on a real historical period, but the fantastical parts come from making the beliefs and superstitions of the period a reality.
So a medieval fantasy has a medieval setting, but with medieval beliefs and superstitions made real - just like an ancient Greek fantasy would be set in ancient Greece, but would have their mythology being actaully real - and the same with a Viking fantasy.
A barbarian would be ok in an ancient Greek fantasy, but not a medieval one.

Or you could, I dunno, actually look up a list of fantasy subgenres instead of just making up what you like?

You know, looking at that list, what GG describes sounds a lot like Historical Fantasy. Which contains Medieval Fantasy as a sub-heading. Which doesn't mention barbarians...

Were all the barbarians that really did exist in real life in the real medieval era picked on for being unfashionable and outdated?
