The toughest toons to play?

Hmm personally I have troubles with HEAT's. Because you have to much options and it is hard to make a build that actually works.

I used to have big troubles with tankers and brutes. But once you got stamina they are actually fun to play. My current peeves are trollers and the CoV equivalent. Never been able to level one above 22. Horrible to solo at low levels and findign a team is not easy (for me). Although what i have seen of them at high lvels is disgusting.

Right now the character I have the hardest time using is my Sonic/Kinetics Corruptor. Sonic seems like a weak power, though this is probably due to my defender-like attack power and makes it very difficult to solo even the weakest of foes. My kinetics side, while much better by comparison, still seems lacking due to recharge restrictions and the sheer endurance drain.

I spam siphon's like they're going out of fashion, but can only seem to stack power 3 times at best with Hasten. Siphon Speed is the same. While that 60% recharge sounds amazing at first glance, realise that unless I'm able to hit them every time it can quickly drop since I only have a duration of about 5 seconds in triple-stack.

It's fun to team with masterminds, and I really hope I can get her high enough to use Fulcrum Shift (as I believe that's about the only time I'll see any real benefits of being /kin) so I plan to stick with her. But yes, a very challenging character to play indeed.

Hardest to play for me is anything which is not a scrapper or blaster.
I'm a D&D fighter at heart, all I want to do is get in there and mess [censored] up.
Hence anything else is frustrating due to the lack of flying corpses.....

As I’ve mentioned a few times, I do find my sonic/sonic defender difficult to play. This is not because she’s a poor AT, just very unfulfilling.

About half of her attack powers are multiple targeted ones which means she can draw agro very easily and if she does a quick slap from a level one Hellion and she’s down. Add to this the primary set which, while it can be very effective (I think), doesn’t feel like it’s doing anything, and when I play her I feel like I’m stood around not doing a great deal.

This is obviously all about how I feel, rather than how the team feel about me (I’m as a player they find me really annoying ) and maybe things would be better if I got her up a few levels (she’s about level 25 at the moment and has been for two and a half years), but I find it much better to play a healer or a scrapper where I can see I’m having some effect.

The real shame is that’s she’s my favourite character.

Or more succinctly, what Sapphy said.

My sonic/sonic is now 43 or so, and I remember thinking she was pants too when she was lower - but I've had very, very positive responses from team members who love the buffs & debuffs, and although it's rare (there aren't that many of them), I always appreciate teaming my tankers with sonic/sonics because not only does the added protection feel safe, but the defence debuffs help make me feel like my tank can actually hurt something! I don't know how much glee a sonic brings to ranged ATs, but my experience is that team-mates in melee do very well indeed, thanks very much, with sonic bubbles scouring their ear-drums.

What makes (and made) my sonic/sonic frustrating was the absence of teams. It seems harder to find one, for some reason, and they really can't solo - Choral was running on Heroic and had failed her mission three times when I gave up and moved on to other alts. In a team that mission would be on Invincible and the debuffed EB would be down in a second thanks to a scrapper/tanker wrapped in sonic shieldy goodness.

People don't seem to like the noise...maybe that's why sonics are mocked and cursed to walk the fringes of superhero society

Essentially, what I'm taking a whole page to say is, keep at it with your fave character - sonics are excellent and I'll always take one or two to buff up my tanker any day of the week

I find it hard to play controllers. Controlling my enemy is something I would like to do but after playing many controllers I just find them boring and unattractive.

Some interesting responses guys thanks

I have found HEATs to be tough to play but I guess my fave AT are blasters and trollers (at the time of writing I've got 6 lvl 50s, 3 blasters, a defender, a controller and a dominator - that should tell you something about my preferences.)

I struggle wiht mellee toons, running up to people and hitting them isn't for me, I much prefer to rain death from above from a distance. That's just my play style I guess, and tho HEATs do that,I've never really quite "tuned" into them

For me I have to feel some kind of affinity with the character, so often they have a back story, even if it's just in my head. That can make the difference. I'm thinking tho I should play a Sonic/Sonic just to see what it's about

[/ QUOTE ]Man, how wrong can you be... You're calling arguably the best Defender/Corruptor blast set weak? You do realise how ridiculously powerful the stacking -res is, don't you?
And difficult to solo? Did you actually take the awesome cone Sleep power?

/e baffled

As for myself? Anything without mez protection.

[/ QUOTE ]Yes, im well aware theres a sleep power, and it's useful when it actually lands, but for some reason I have trouble actually doing anything with it. It also wakes them the instant they take damage, making sleep one of the least useful holding abilities available.

As for the -resistance. It'd be nice if it actually showed signs of working occasionally. I filled enemies full of sonic attacks only to have them eviscerate me moments later with 75% HP or more. Even the weakest opponents can be a challenge, and oddly enough my slotting is at 94% acc and damage.

Believe me, I had the same conceptions you do but for some reason it just doesn't work for me. Go figure.

I don't really think any of them are difficult to play, I just find some of them boring, like Controllers, Doms and Stalkers.

I take it you haven't met "The Radio" as an opponent yet then? It uses sonics, strangely enough, when I came up against it with my MM, it wiped out all my pets and half killed my toon with just two blasts. Weak it ain't...not when used by an EB anyway

[/ QUOTE ]I know well how strong it can be when used against you. I fought the radio on my robotics/forcefield mastermind and it did a lot of damage to say the least. And wailers are equally difficult to defeat for the same reason. Eating those attacks from several opponents really stacks on the resistance reductions and takes you out quick.

For a lone corruptor though, it feels like lil ol' me versus the world. Hopefully I'll find it better with Fulcrum Shift to hand.

@Thunderspark. My main villian is a Rad Blast/Kin Corruptor. I had a really hard time leveling her up. But yep kinetics are amazing. I recommend you take Transference. Spamming transference can really slow down any ememies attacks if they don't have the end recovery to combat it combined with siphon speed and you will soon be kicking some booty

I find Tankers really hard to play. I they just feel really slow to me.

Difficult not that really (well i faceplanted a insane ammount), but highly annoying:

Merc/TA MM. Specialy pre-TA fix, even after the minor merc fix. The redraw is insane (basicly anything u do never match your next power).

I think alot of sets are diffcult during low lvls on solo. Regen is rather lousy pre-16 (basicly only u got is a tiny bit regen?), my earth/storm lacked huge on damage, my AR/sonic corrupter was without endurance nonstop.
