Forum Titles...

Anything that lets me be rid of the title I have is fine by me.

Yes - remove all titles, post counts and registration dates - it makes it better for newer players, I think.

Hell no!
I *like* my title, and I earned it too, so ner!

It makes me laugh how some people can get so worked up over forum titles and post counts!, ... as if it means anything!
Actually how come titles are given out for stories, piccies etc but never for things like guides, sites or apps (with the exception of Mids builder, and there was a lot of moaning when that was, quite rightly, awarded by Bridger)?
I love reading the stories and the like but to a lot of the player base a good guide or site can be more helpful in helping them develop their toons.
I think the US have Guide titles?
It's because they're part of the prize for the Creative Genius competition.

Problematic in that the creative posts obviously have to go in 'creative' whereas the guides are going to go in 'guides'.... but theoretically, a great guide is worthy in my opinion.

Yes, I know that bit, that's obvious.
I'm asking why there isn't the same sort of competition / reward system for the most helpful / well written guide or site every once in a while (doesn't have to be monthly given how useless they can be at sticking to getting the Creative Awards done consistantly on a monthly basis).

I guess its because a guide on how to do something is subjective, Yes i know art is subjective too - but in a different way.
With art its just somebodys interpretation of CoX which is personal to them and cannot be unaccurate in a defined sense.
With a guide, take for example the Statesman TaskForce: Someone could work up a great guide on how to do it a certain way, but that is just it, there is no one true and correct way to do it, but many variations. Plus I suppose if the guide is 98% accurate to doing it a certain way and has a small error or omission - would that negate the entry as a 'correct' guide?, you can't keep on submitting edited versions for consideration month after month.
Like I said, somewhat problematic!. - there are some great guides out there though aren't there!.

Probably because we never thought of it... *cough* 'tis an interesting idea. Oh, and re: Creative Genius - the English one has been run monthly on the English forum all year (although I'm a tad late getting the August nominations thread posted ... off to do that now).

I actually knew Creative was up and running pretty well at the mo, but it was more likely to draw a response if I mocked it too

Maybe (or hopefully) the next forum software (vBulletin, right?) will have a karma system so we can promote users that are helpful to the community?
I will stretch it a bit further: Maybe put in place a post rating system at the new forum that will auto-hide posts that many people rated thumbs down after reaching a certain "rating floor" configurable by each user (like slashdot is doing for example).
It will make your job easier and our reaction to bad posts better and faster.
I am going to have to say no to that Saxus as some posts that the majority see as a waste of time may to others carry an important point.

No, sorry too subjective and able to be manipulated by those with malicious intent.

Uh-huh....riiiight. And the fact that this forum is in fact AIMED to please and help the majority figures in how?
I, and, from what I have seen, a lot of others grow tired of your over-inflated ego and disregard for the fact that others are as entitled to their opnions as you.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

True, but you'd have to pi... annoy a lot of people for the malicious to have any effect (one peeved guy isn't going to achieve much)
You used to be able to rate posters on this board (like the stars for threads) but they removed it because it doesn't engender a good community. At risk of agreeing with Tuarus (BTW shouldn't that be Taurus?) it'd be a backward step to add something like this.
Thanks, Ninja. Now I don't need to type all of that.
