it's better to just make the GM names red above the character, so you know for sure.
[/ QUOTE ]With 95% of your petitions, you're not going to ever actually see the GM, just talk to them through tells or (out-of-game-)e-mail, so that's fairly pointless.
[/ QUOTE ]
its not as pointless as you tihnk considering the problem being discused is people pretending to be a gm so if the gm names apear in a different color like red or whatever that gamers cant copy then it makes them stan out all that more and alot harder for people to try and scam there way round it

This is accomplished with the GM_ prefix already: it is unavailable to players.

but that still doesn't stop ppl from fooling new players who know nothing of MMO games, a red name above the GM character makes it easier to reconice, with a small warning in the login screen that tells that GM players have red letters.
Red or not red title, if people don't know how to recognize a true GM, that won't do any difference.
And if the impersonator is just contacting them by text, then it doesn't matter how special looking the real GMs are.

[/ QUOTE ]Exactly this!
I have, so far, bugged trhe hell out of GM_Emily. It's usually when I'm playing very late at night and doing a solo mission. She is always very polite however, and patient, especially the time I got 'stuck' between an Oranbegan wall as my Stalker and spent 2 minutes hitting spacebar repeatedly - Who knows how I got there.
So, they do exist. And Emily doesn't have her powers displayed although I saw GM_Max's once and was immediately insanely jealous...

I have, in my 3+ years of playing this game, never seen a GM. Nor have i talked to one in game.
[/ QUOTE ]
I can confirm they do exist I've needed help from a GM twice. Once I fell through the floor of the Pocket D lift and ended up floating in space unable to even use a portal (you get interrupted constantly - must be the lack of oxygen). Second time I fell through the ground in Talos after colliding with a perfectly innocuous looking shrub. There was nobody around so I asked for help. Before the GM answered, someone visited Talos and teleported me back to normality.
I've seen GM_Charles a few times and he has always turned up as a police drone.
And unless its a recent change you can reply with backspace. In fact, when I first started and needed a GM to clear a bugged mission for me (in the old days before you had the drop mission function) I didn't know about backspace and the GM was very helpful telling me about the backspace reply function. If it hadn't been for him I'd probably still be trying to type the full name out every time I wanted to say something privately. Now all i need to do is remember to actually press the button properly before complaining to a team mate about how rubbish the tank is

Very useful info (I didn't knew about #3) and probably some individuals made Avatea totally furious to get her post that as a global cross-section forum announcement.

You also cant use backspace to reply to them, makes it a bit awkward having to type /t name, everytime

strange, backspace always works for me

Its your fault
Its your computers fault
Its your ISPs fault
I've only had to contact a GM twice. Once where level 41 mobs were inside a level 15 mission (before the ability to 'cancel th emission and auto complete it' and once in the ITF - as only 1 less boss spawned from what was needed to defeat to continue.
Both times, i was contacted by e-mail in game, then PM'ed straight after.
I've talked to several GM's in game, but I've never seen one - sadly. Most of the times however, I got referred to the web by email.
