You can try flushing your DNS. If you don't know how:

start>run>type in smd, hit enter.

at command prompt type: ipconfig /flushdns

this command work on XP I do not know about Vista.

oha nd you may have to reboot after.

I don't suppose anyone knows where this "DNS Cache Flushing" mythos with regards to CoX originated from?

Short of NCSoft having suddenly relocating all their servers or some kind of coordinated DNS cache-poisoning attack, flushing your DNS cache will do absolutely bugger all as far as fixing any connection issues goes.

the same place the "Don't click the glowies in the mission before the station on the repsect Trial" came from?

i.e. out of someone's [censored].

It's a common way of sorting out connection problems to web pages or anything with a host name. If the DNS cache is corrupt (as sometimes happens) clearing it just forces the client to contact the outside ISP DNS server for the address rather than using the locally cached record.

You won't have to reboot the machine. It's the same command in Vista; it's a shell command and these haven't changed since DOS.

As Spad said, this is very unlikely to solve anything anyway, but if you do want to try it the text to type at the command prompt is [u]cmd[u], not [u]smd[u].

Why would you type cmd at the command prompt when you are already at the command prompt ?

I think you mean at Start-Run ?

Which is all moot as you can just type "ipconfig /flushdns" at the run prompt as it doesn't produce any significant output that you'd want to read .

Erm, yes, you're quite right; correct text, wrong location in my post. My brain's clearly in Bank Holiday mode....

sorry, yes. I did make typos. I had already been up 20 hours when I typed this. MY friend lost connection to the game as well and said she could not even load their web page. So I had her flush her DNS and soon after she was able to reconnect.
