There is one, but you can't use it in the US or EU.

But you're OK to use it mid-ocean on transatlantic flights, if you do a lot of travel with work.
Mids does this without the import export.
To be able to export from your client to mids would be useful, I would imagine the reverse would be less useful as you never make one or two decisions about a charecter at any lvl up and mids already gives you a respec helper that you can follow in game.
I take it you know of Mids heroe designer?
Lol that's awesome - next time I go to Egypt I will sit on the beach building heroes
Golden-Phoenix - Lvl 50 Fire/Fire Tank
Oodja Nikabolokov - Lvl 50 SS/WP Brute

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could Chuck Norris?

I'm quite certain they mean a character creator akin to the one ingame when you build a character and create their costume.

Ah sorry my mistake if that's what was meant I apologise for leading you up the garden path I obviously took it entirely the wrong way. Mids only allows you to plan power choices/ slotting and enhancement not Icon design sorry.
Yeah I want the whole shebang would pass time at work so much faster!!!

Yes, and your not going to get on as there are tradmark peoples with allowing it to be off line with in the EU or US, there was one in the Korean site but they had to take it off public access when we started getting hold of it.
i much rather want a costume creator, so we can make our own costumes and place them in-game.
how dense are you? this is what's being asked for and it already exists (thought not the import to game function) and the legal issues/agreements what ever mean NC soft can't release it in the EU or US.

I think Sorudo might mean a costume creator in the sense of player created costumes... which would be problematic, to say the least.

I don't see what trademark issues would crop up if all you could do with a created character was import it into CoH - if it infringed any tradermarks the GMs would soon boot it

It's more that they could be created offline and therefore couldn't be monitored, so Marvel threw a hissy fit.

Exactly how does a stand alone costume creator (I'm assuming it didn't import into CoX) pose any possible breach to Marvel? If I really wanted to recreate one of their characters I'll pick up a pencil, scribble away, scan it and post it to the interweb. What're they gonna do? Come round and break my fingers?
Sorry, not having a go at anyone in particular here other than Marvel (DC girl :P) - I arrived a little too late to hear about proceedings.
Right... Plan... I wonder how many Marvel characters I can make in the Spore creature thingy...
/e plot
It was possible to make characters similar to Marvel ones with the creator and they didn't like that. If you could only do it online, NCSoft and Cryptic could monitor it, whereas offline, this was not the case.

Marvel need to grow up, as any piece of art needs it's influences and it's impossible to learn anything without copying IMO every piece of art ever created was 'copied' to some degree or another, copyright is merely a capitalist restriction on peoples freedom of expression.
Without copywrite it would be impossible to make a living using freedom of expression.
But then without capitalism it would be impossible to make a living.
I think you are the one who needs to grow up.
I really should do something about this signature.
Do you think thats a reportable offence Praf mate.

if you look over the internet, creating it offline doesn't hurt, it only hurts when NCsoft cryptic allows the costume peace.
this is a good sample of what i mean:
http://www.urbanmythproductions.com/
they make exact replicates, and marvel can't do jack.
and at top of that, as long as it's not in a game, there is no treat.
Except there was a lawsuit over it already, so they won't make it again.

this whole issue was beaten to death last month or maybe the month before that it go's something like this
Marvel launched a lawsuit against NCsoft/cryptic on the grounds that the games costume creator could be used to breach marvel copy right
but before it got as far as court room (makes me wonder how strong exactly marvels case was) marvel NCsoft and cryptic came to a agreement this agreement may or may not stop them from releasing a offline costume creator but nobody outside of those 3 company's knows as they cant tell joy public what was agreed to (daft but that's law for you)
and that's about as much as any one knows everything else is guess work.

Aye, it's assumed the basic agreement is that NCSoft will monitor and remove all copyright infringements, which they wouldn't be able to do if it was offline. So they can't release an offline version without opening themselves up to another costly lawsuit.
Wow do you think Bic are gonna get sued by DC cos of all the line drawing that went on over the past 30 years.

Inappropriate comparison; a Bic's a very general purpose device usable for writing, drawing any sort of picture and (it seems) picking bike locks. Making a realistic drawing requires real skill and significant practice.
The offline builder's created for the specific and sole purpose of rendering superheroes. Making a realistic hero can be done almost immediately.
You see why Marvel might feel more threatened by one than the other?
Whilst sadly sitting at my desk working this weekend (well - more listening to iTunes and twiddling thumbs) I started pining for CoH. Unfortunately my laptop is not graphically equipped for playing COH, and I strongly suspect there will be limits on the LAN giving access to game servers! Then I started wondering about the feasibility of an Offline Hero Creator. I would be able to sit at work designing heroes/villains then when i get home Import them into CoH.
I cannot see if being that technically difficult to be able to create a hero externally and import. Granted I cannot see it ever being implemented as the vast majority of people build their characters whilst online - but I wanted NCNC to build it just for me
