More MM Power Sets
Well, a lot of people have asked for evil clowns, but I think Positron is scared of clowns

Clones/Mirror Images/Doppelgangers...
Or Beast Mastery - 3 Crows, 2 Wolves, 1 Bear?
It has been mentioned that MM primaries require about 10 times as much work as any other powerset.
I really should do something about this signature.
Yeah i bet they need much more work than other sets. Funny thing is i was thinking about MM primaries even i don't play villians (Even can't keep my main's archenemies for long, Mercy island missions and all that running around is boring).
So here's my two sets
Elementalist : Fire Imps, Earth Creature (the one Earth Trollers/Dominators have) and Ice Beast (the ones we see in winter events). For attacks i think Flares/Ball Lightning and Ice Storm are good choices.
Medieval Set: Footman (guys with short swords), Knight (a BS using melee warrior) and Sorcerer (like CoT sorcerers buffer/debuffer). For attacks i think about crossbow (single shot and double shot on second attack) but can't find anything for further attacks.
Discussed this in the game the other day, it'd be nice to see a Mythical beasties set. In part using either the Minotaur or Cyclops from the Imperious TF.
maybe summat like arachnos or goldbrickers or any of the other gangers ? the mm could use powers based on the AVs of those gangs or summat
Given the resources, I would like to see an Animals MM set (Wolves, Bears etc). Mostly because they would have to make the animal skeletons, so they could add ambient animals to the game at the same time.
I really should do something about this signature.
Here's one I posted a while back
Puppetry (Mastermind Power set)

Level 28: Carnival Puppet(Tier 3 pet)
This power summons one Body Puppet. This pet is worn over the body of the summoner
(When summoned this pet acts like a Warhshades shape shifting power. You will only have access to the powers of the Body Puppet. Some of you might remember it
I'd love to see an Animal set (unlikely, as there aren't any animal animation skeletons in-game) and a Demonic set (more hope for this, as at least there are imp, succubus and behemoth models in-game).
But I doubt we'll be seeing any new mastermind primaries anytime soon, not unless the Devs create a new archetype for heroes that could use them as well (pet primary and control set secondary would be fun - if horribly overpowered, heh) - too much work for just 1 archetype out of 14, and for the least popular half of the game at that.
Illusion MM's these wud be great and not alot of work to do for them either pretty much a basic transfer from illusion trollers i think.

Then you think wrong
Look at the illusion set - no pet upgrade powers, 1 attack (MMs get 3), 3 control powers, 2 invisibility powers, then you get to the 3 "pet" powers: 1 pet that only acts as anchor for an AE fear/-ToHit effect, 3 invulnerable pets that can't be up permanently and do illusory damage, only 1 pet that can be up permanently with normal attack powers that also happens to summon invulnerable decoys of itself.
And you don't think that would take much work to turn into an MM henchman set with 3 tiers of pets, 2 upgrade powers, 3 attacks plus 1 other wildcard power to round it out? /boggle - I'd hardly call that a basic transfer, even if adding controllable henchman AI to illusion control's pets (as opposed to dumb pet AI) was a copy-paste job - which I'm pretty sure it isn't.
Point taken ive never played a troller so was just guesstamating but i still think illu MM's wud be great to play
wasn't illusion mentioned for MM when the initial announcement about power prolification was made?
Not by any developer.
I really should do something about this signature.

No, it wasn't. The Devs said that masterminds wouldn't be getting any primaries through proliferation because there were no other henchmen sets/powers on other archetypes to proliferate across to them.
For proliferation it's really rather simple - for non-Epic archetypes there are:
Defensive sets (Tanker primary, Brute/Scrapper/Stalker secondary)
Melee sets (Brute/Scrapper/Stalker primary, Tanker secondary)
Blast sets (Blaster/Corruptor primary, Defender secondary)
"Support" sets (Defender primary, Corruptor/Controller/Mastermind secondary)
Control sets (Dominator/Controller primary)
then also the oddball single-archetype powersets...
Henchman sets (Mastermind primary)
Manipulation sets (Blaster secondary)*
Assault sets (Dominator secondary)*
For Powerset Proliferation the Devs are really only looking at swapping powersets between archetypes on a like-for-like basis - because that is relatively easy (compared to making a completely new powerset) - e.g. Blast sets that Defenders have that Corruptors or Blasters don't will probably get proliferated.
Obviously they still have to make tweaks on a per-archetype basis (e.g. Melee sets swapping in Confront instead of Taunt for Scrappers, or Placate/AssassinStrike replacing Taunt/(a PBAE) for Stalkers - it even led to the Katana set being renamed Ninja-Blade for stalkers even though it is basically the same powerset) - if only to make the powers work with a different archetypes' inherent.
The sets marked * are hybrid powersets cobbled together as needed from mainly existing powers from other sets (Melee sets mostly, but also notably Blast sets to make up Assault sets - with some like Thorny Assault being based on Spines, but with some new powers added) so take more work - we probably shouldn't expect to always get them when like-for-like powersets are proliferated.
Illusion Control may look like a pet set to those who haven't played it, but I assure you the powers in it have more in common with other Control sets than the Henchman sets that Masterminds get. And this is also why the daft people asking for Trick Arrows or Traps for a Blaster secondary, or Devices for Dominators (I nearly laughed myself off my chair when I saw that request), are going to be disappointed.
Actually, at least two MM powersets could be derived from other existing sets, though it would NOT be as trivial as simple "proliferation". But the concepts are here, as well as pet designs: illusions and elementals. I could add something about "primal forces" too, with gravitic, storm and dark pets.
However, it can be seen as a good point if the devs are actually trying to make original powersets... as long as they DO make some.
There are a few threads with nice ideas for new MM powersets, and i seem to remember one dev interview mentioning something about a "pirate" powerset. Though I'm not the least interested in such a set, it would be great to see new faces around the rogue isles.
My Ideas ^^
Mastermind Sets:
-Greenskins-
Villain Weapon: Throwing Axes and Maybe Laser Beam Eyes.
1st pet: Goblins, starting with simple melee attack.
1st upgrade (Basic Equipment): Gives them a little armor, and a club
2ed upgrade (Strong Equipment): Gives them more armor, a helmet and a Mining Pick.
2ed pet: Orcs, starting with a Club and does moderate mace attacks
1st upgrade (Basic Equipment): Orcs get a little body armor and an Axe.
2ed upgrade (Strong Equipment): Orcs get a nearly full armor and a bigger axe.
3ed pet: Cyclops, wielding a huge mace or a tree.-ยจ
1st upgrade (Basic Equipment): Cyclops get's a little armor on upper body, and can shoot laser out of his eye
2ed upgrade (Strong Equipment): Cyclops get's a pair of shoulder pads, a huge rock mace and Stomp.
________
-Homunculus-
Villain Weapon: Poison Attacks, Throwing a bottle with Dangerous Chemicals, poisoned Darts.
A single pet wich is upgraded to become 1 strong ally, unlike other MM sets, you only get 1 pet, but with 3 upgrades.
Homunculus, Stars as a human being, nothing special to see about it, with a few melee attacks.
1st upgrade (Simple Mutation): The Homunculus grows a few spikes around there body, and get Thorn/Spine attacks a few melee and 1 ranged.
2ed upgrade (Dangerous Mutation): The Homunculus grows even more spikes and get a few more Spine attacks, and a Poison Debuff ability.
3ed upgrade (Deadly Mutation): The Homunculus grows Arms/claws from it's back, it gets most spine attacks, ability to use claws on it's back and a new ranged attack, 2 new debuffs and the ability to Ressurect itself once every 10min if it should die.
________
-Apprentice-
Villain Weapon: Throwing Stars/Kunai.
Like the Homunculus, this is a single pet, wich 3 upgrades.
The Apprentice is normaly just in a normal Robe, cloth belt and a Pair of loss pants, it uses Martial Arts and Psychic blasts, it starts with a single kick and Psionic Dart.
1st Upgrade (Basic Training): It's get's a pair of shoulder pads, a headband and a folded Cloth Belt. It get 2 new kicks, and Subdue.
2ed Upgrade (Advanced Training): The apprentice get's a new robe and Butterfly Belt. It gets one new kick and 2 Katana Attacks and Scramble Thoughts.
3ed Upgrade (Master Training): The apprentice keeps it's apprience, but get's a Full Body Lightning Aura. I gets 1 new kick, 2 new Katana attacks and Mental Blast and Focus Chi. And the apprentice is ready to try his having his own apprentice, wich he can summon for a short periode.

for those who cant be bothered reading the hole thing ill quote the relevant section

things like Kinetics for Masterminds would be extremely dangerous to port directly; many changes would need to be done to make that one work. The same can be said with moving Illusions to Masterminds as a Primary powerset.
[/ QUOTE ]
So it would look like illusion could be a possibility for MM in the future

Using controller/dominator pets as the basis for an MM pet would probably take the same amount of work as just using any of the NPCs in the game (such as behemoths, or carnies, or whatever) - the Devs would still have to write/copy the AI code, create the upgrades and create/copy the pet powers, create the other powers in the set, and then balance it all. A new MM pet set would involve a lot more work than just borrowing graphics/animations from existing stuff.
You would have to create completly new animations for Spectral Terror at the least, since it is currently just FX.
And you may have noticed, the models for all MM pets change when upgraded. No other existing model, player pet or mob, has this feature.
There may be some minor savings that could be gained form doing Illusions, rather than something completly new, but it would basically be only 9 times as much work as a regular set, instead of 10 times.
I really should do something about this signature.
in other words no MM set is going to be easy to implement.
But they are/we're working on new sets Daemons were mentioned at one point as was something else but i cant remember what so would expect them to get some kind of new primary but there not gonna benefit as much from power-set purification as other ATs

Pretty much. If other sets are easier to make and will be used by more archetypes (so more players get to experience them) then why would the Devs make a new MM set? It sucks, but there it is.

I remember various Devs (Positron and Statesman mainly) tossing ideas around, but no actual commitments. Unless memory fails me only pirates and carnies were mentioned by devs - demons and elementals are just perennially popular player suggestions. Also priorities change - you can't hold the Devs to anything they said before Cryptic sold the game to NC and especially not to anything Statesman ever said. Back before I started playing in I5 he confirmed names of epic archetypes that would be in the game eventually, one of which has since been taken off the table (Avilans - we got wings as costume pieces instead) while the rest are still in limbo (Blood of the Black Stream, Incarnates) and may never appear.
Sure, the Devs occasionally mention things they'd like to work on, but powerset-wise the only recent thing I can recall is that Shields are next and after that probably a "Blast" set (which we've all convinced ourselves will be Dual Pistols), then maybe a new "Control" set. I'm not sure we can have expectations past that as we probably won't get more than 1 new powerset every 2-3 issues, based on past experience. Sure, the Dev team is being expanded, but the "powers" department (i.e. Castle's area) are probably going to be kept very busy by powerset proliferation.
yea your more than likely corect which is a shame MM could really do with a few more primery power sets.
Hell maybe well see some new form of MM emerge that dosent use the standared 3 2 1 pet layout perhaps a MM witha smaller in number but sronger pets would be a posability or a more horde type MM where summons are week and some what gineric (eg imps, zombies etc etc) but can be summoned quicker and in greater numbers.
