City of Farm
This debate, if you can call it that, isn't even for this forum, let alone this thread, so could you continue this on one of the already existing threads in General or start another new thread there?
The points raised are valid, from both sides, I just don't see the point in discussing them here.

I do get my own pool C recipes, thanks very much
[/ QUOTE ]
And how do you do that considering the vast recipe selections on offer. Farm (ohh noes) Task force pool c drops/Tforces perhaps cause thats the only way you will get what you want rather than buy.
Keep digging.
I like conteollers the way they are its important to me. Just as I like corrupters but thats a seperate forum I will agree.

"Inflation is a rise in the general level of prices over time. It may also refer to a rise in the prices of a specific set of goods or services. In either case, it is measured as the percentage rate of change of a price index"
Inf goes up -> recipes/salvage go up slower -> prices go up
Seems self-explanatory
[/ QUOTE ]
Its also self explanatory that the prices in the market atm for heroes which is the side with most farming options and largest farming population are actually DROPPING.
I dont need google to learn what inflation is i got my 1st year macro/micro economics book (Economics by Welch & Welch)to check on it thanks.Dropping a definition doesnt change the fact that a)Prices are not actually going up b) there is no such thing as depreciation in a virtual economy with only exception virtual economies that relate to foreign exchange rates such as WoW (gold buying with real money affected through USD value in international market) and Second Life (where you can buy in game currency with real money).
And to be honest ask any developer they will answer to you that bottom line Inflation in game is preferred over deflation because deflation destroys content which is one thing developers dont want.
Finally instead of the rubbish proposals of "removing farming 100% to control the non existant inflation" ,lead designer of Ultima Online and the creative director behind Star Wars Galaxies Raph Koster points out the following as standard ways to control inflation in virtual economies:
-reducing the amount of value in the economy via means such as: item decay, item deletion (either via challenges where you can lose items, character purges, etc.
- Refusing to up the level limit, and instead introducing orthogonal advancement paths.(sounds familiar?) This single mechanism is probably the single biggest slowdown you can effect. Many long-running successful games got that way by simply never upping the level cap, and instead investing their expansion in enriching the content and encouraging repeat play. (sounds familiar?)
-Obsessive attention to economic stats and adjusting all economic drains to account for all the influx. This often means punishingly high costs for players, btw.
Thanks for the discussion.
PS: Apologies for the derail.
Hey TG, do you have sources for this information? The simple reason is, out of all the conjecture and arguement, I'm actually finding these snippets interesting and would like to see such articles in their greater context or entireity . Pm or whatever would be really cool. Thanks mate.

Just incase people still think I was suggestign this as an actual option, I wasn't. I was simply stating that the only way to guarantee the removal of a problem is to... well, remove it I'm not saying there aren't other ways that *might* work or even that it needs to be done, it was a semi-tangent.

I refuse, to make a fire/kin, infact so far fire is the only primary troller I have yet to sample beyond level 15.
That will change on my Fire/Thermal, but they are last in line , and its a long line!
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm in the same boat as you here.
My only troller close to it is a lvl 40 Fire/Stormie which I enjoy playing in teams but not for farming really.
Here's an alternative to Fire/Kins
Since I'm a tank lover since i5, I managed to come up with a Fire/SS tank that can take it and dish it.
Except for Psi/Carnies maps and maybe Malta, I can solo *farm* pretty much every map on Invinc.
Now we have that new zone that doesn't even require to reset your mission and it's going really smooth and so far my toon didn't die once even with 2 lvl 52 bosses on me.
My setup:
Fly ( I have Fly on left CTRL for easy toggle )
Leave Sprint on ( I have Sprint on left SHIFT for easy toggle )
Toggles needed: Fire Shield, Blazing Aura, Tough
Click *Rage* when it's recharged
Setup a bind that targets *surgeon*
Process
Target *surgeon* with your bind
Press your key *Follow* ( I have Follow on the tilde key, left from key 1 )
One-shot surgeon with KO Blow (while animation is playing, turn off Fly )
Move left n right to taunt everyone (A + D while looking at the wall) then move to and stand close to the ledge and let them all come and hug you
Attack chain
Burn, Footstomp, Fireball, Fire Blast/Haymaker
Move on to next spawn ...
When Rage is/wears off just hit Consume, this can even pull ranged guys next to you sometimes.
Here's my build (very expensive, but totally fun, it was worth doing)

In my opinion, gravity is incredibly weak. The damage output from gravity is far lower than that of fire. The only thing Grav has got going is the hold then use of Propel.
I'd say scratch the fire/kin and make a spines/fire scrapper. They do intense AoE and Cone damage and can run the map faster. But if you get into a team with a fire/kin the fulcrum shift just lets you shred through your opponents in mere seconds. Either way, it does seem everyone has a farming toon now, n' you know what they say "if you cant beat 'em... then join 'em"
(PS- there are some very nice spines/fire guides out there and ill try find a link for you all)
Hope it Helps Peace Out

Actually no. I hope that the OP is still reading this thread because I would like to offer them some hope.
As a serial alter, I have been playing for almost three years and never hit 50. Last summer I spat the dummy, chose a powerset I wanted to play and just made it happen. I hit 50 just after Christmas and it was fun all the way. The set I chose to play? Dark/Dark Defender. AKA Team Support as you stated you prefer. Teams do still exist and team support is definitely valued still so dont despair. Just stay focussed, run your own teams occasionally and dont be afraid to organise things. People flock to arranged TFs and dont be afraid to bug your friends when theyre online to see whether they have a spare spot. All in all, dont give up. Yes, post 40, there are a lot of farming teams and Id be a liar if I said I didnt join a few in my ride to 50. The only thing I refused to do was bridge, I wanted to earn my 50 and as much as farming teams get knocked, you do actually get to fight things in them rather than just hanging by the door. But mission teams do exist still, so dont despair. If a serial alting pillock like me can make a team support toon their first (and so far only) 50, you can too.
Best of luck to you.
Now, back to the farming debate.
