Rise of the Phoenix ?

OK, my fire/fire is rapidly approaching lvl 32, so the question is, is Rise of the Phoenix any good? As i understand it, big blast knocking foes down, rez with half HPand endurance and invulnerable. It sounds damned good, but is it?

this body is merely a shell
you can not touch me
you can not harm me
I am not afraid

It's really good. It has even a stun built in it. But. It has a downside that you need to die to activate it.

it's the best lvl 49 power ever :P

I took it at 49 and am yet to use it on my Brute

However, I have seen it been used (by Alvan mostly ) very well on a Blaster, and it also has the added bonus for you of not having many toggles to shove on!

I believe he has it as part of his main attack chain.

Edit: I've got it on my fire blaster too - like most others I took it as a last power because it does look very pwetty, but preferred to take stuff to keep me alive before then. I plan to do the same on my brute.

Well if you die then it looks good but that imo is about it its the worse tier 9 power on any tanker set, if you wana get it then pick it 49 that way you can pick up more powers that are worth having.

I was most dissapointed by this power when i first rolled my tank tank. Its fun, but as a few have said a realshame that you have to die to activate it :P

I have mine tucked away in my fourh power tray and only use it every now and then. I'm probably going to respec it out when i next respec my tank.

My opinion, get it, use it (until you're bored of the eye candy rez) then chuck it and get another shield

If you can overcome your fear of debt its good.

Heck, it's a self-rez and a damn good one on top of that. So, instead of having to wait for the defender's (maybe even inferiour) rez to recharge (in my experience the tanker is seldomly the only one to fall) or running back to the mission from the hospital (great perspective in those huge danger zones with the mission usually in somewhere in BFE) or having to wait for others to clear the remaining mobs dancing on your back so that you can use your rez inspi... well, you can just get up with a big BOOM and turn the tides of battle.

Plus, I just love self-rezzes, especially for toons that are quite tough in the first place. There are your enemies, still panting from the exhausting fight and quite happy to have finally brought you to a halt... and the next thing they see is you just getting up from the ground with an evil grin: "So, you think you have beaten me... Think again!"

If it has
eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.

I left it until 49 - it's great fun to use on UFO raids.

I took the self-rez on my scrapper a lot earlier though - once you get over the debt thing and accept that sometimes you will be defeated, it's so much fun to do the Freak Tank thing and just get back up without any hanging about.

aye.. its a self-rez, now its debatable if you WANT a self-rez on your tank, but i suppose thats not the issue. For as far as self-rezzes go, I think RotP is a damn nice one. Does a bit of damage iirc, but the nice part is how it stuns your enemies, leaving you with the upper hand for a few secs. As said before, by the time they managed to bring you down they should already be weakened from the fight, and you are ready for round 2!

"god, how many devs did hami have to sleep with to get ED?"

I took mine at 32, I don't give a monkeys about taking one for the team and self ressing. The great thing is you can get back aggro after defeat and thats enough for me apart from cool looks. I like my tanks different in concept. If they were the same I would just have one type. I will say that you can use it and abuse it and still be a good tanky.

Having a self rez is the same as haing an unlimited duration phase shift.

Hibernates got more in common with phase shift imo.

Hibernate is a phase shift. But the duration is limited.

If you are defeated and have a self rez that makes you instantly combat ready, you can remain invunerable for as long as you like, waiting for the oportune moment (or recharge of key powers) to rise up and slay your foes.

And your mates can Vengance off you too!

Not as invulnerable/untouchable as Hibernate and for as long neither. In fact! Its not good to easily fall but better to fall on ones own terms. Clockwork king can be done with or without that pbaoe but as a Firetank I'll go take it for fun being reasonably sure that I with the team can mitigate the aftermath.

Its the best Debtprotection there is!

Take it at 32, I did and hardly died after that.

Allthough that might be to the fact I finaly learned about propper slotting at that time :P

It's a nice power and people who want it out of the set I will never understand, Move it to not be a tier 9 sure but remove it NEVAR!!!

Never give a second thought about debt, you will have more fun and level faster as you wont be restrained to take on the chalange, then take that secondary and shove it up the npc's backside!!

GO GO FIRETANKS!!!

*cough*

I'm better now...

Well it recharges faster than it runs out, so its duration is not that limited.
