I don't know much about brutes, but i've heard from various chit chat, that /stone brutes aren't worth it. Sure they get granite and heavy DEF + Res but brutes aren't tanks, and granite is a tank toggle (-65% recharge!!!)

If u wanna give it a try go ahead... let me know if i was right

PS. Hejsa CD :-)

Yes, granite has some defaults, but also some qualities : tp in a group of mobs, see your fury growing almost instantaneously without dying, and make your day
In pvp it's hard, but possible, and what price can have a victory without a little challenge ?
My advices :
- quickness (for hasten), fitness pool, TP pool, fighting pool (for tough and maybe weave - if you have room for it)
- before sets, put preci, rech and endu in your attack powers, after you could get damage too, and try to get preci, rech and quickness bonuses

Hi,

I have a lvl50 SM/SA,a nd I must say I luved playing him from day 1. The only problem I experienced was the end usage in Stone Melee, not the Stone defense.

My brute was above average below lvl38, and great when he was respected into a perma GA build. When playing in GA U change into a tank, not a mob2mob killing machine, but when fury is at 90% it's cool.

A mall word of advice : try persuading an sg-member to duo with a kin corrupter..... SM+SB -> AWESOME!!!

Pool Build suggestions :
Speed --> hasten
Fitness --> swift (3slotted) - health-stamina
Medicine --> stimulant --> aid self (6 slotted)
TP --> tp friend - tp self

Evil Jimmy - lvl50 SM/SA
Fury Green - lvl50 SS/Elec
Mad Dave - lvl50 SS/INV
Mad Fire Green - lvl50 FM/EA
Franky Green - lvl40 EM/Elec

P.S. hej Xander
P.P.S Aid self came as a surprise but i can see the use if it is a tanking brute.

im levelling my stone/stone brute atm and i recon shes pretty fun, im trying to get io's to cancel out the debuffs of granite, so if im in granite im hard to kill, and when im not in granite im a killing machine! (in theory.....)

Stone/Stone user here... Let me say that this toon is pretty impressive, play with it is simply easy before GA...

Im not much fan of TP, and although i have played with it around, i went finally for flight (Air superiority has nice sinergies with ur mallets), so my pools are fitness, speed, flight and presence (2 fears).

Actually, with IOs, u can easily skip the -recharge and -speed of granite, so it is easy to play it.

The way i play is always outside granite. If i get in troubles, i go into granite. If more troubles, earth embrace and rooted, and spamming fault.

The sloting must be heavy with endreds, consider at least, 70% endreds in ur mallets, fault and seismic smash. Skip tremor (meh).

Overall, SM is the best primary i have played with (tasted all primaries over 30s except fire).

Peace.

im lvling a /stone mainly for TF's, as granites are always needed for arggo etc.

Dark/Stone

It was a wierd combo I tried out on Infinity one night and it rocks (no pun intended). Cleared Mercy in one night. Dark Melee provides a lot of -acc and the stone armour provides a lot of +def in the early levels.

It's also quite fun as dark seems to have some fairly quick recharge and despite the -acc of your foes the fury builds quite fast too.

I was thinking of making a stoney as well. Anyone know if stone armor for brutes still has the same penalty's as the tank version, but only partial benefits?
IE. the same speed and recharge reduction, but less effective at reducing incoming damage.

Same speed and recharge reduction, yes.
Less effective at reducing incoming damage, yes too, since it's a brute, not a tank (but the regen of rooted is the same).
But the damage reduction is less effective with a full fury bar (a little more than 10% of total damages, without damage ios).

Thats the part I have trouble with.

These penalties are heavy, yes. I know it very well, since my 50 is a stone/stone brute.
But it's the price to pay to get a toggled god mode

I mean surely the penalty should be lesser in the brute version, since the benefit is also lesser. No matter, I quite fancy building myself a mobile wall and stone armor seems the way to do that.

Ok. Thinking of em/stone or dark/stone, leaning towards the dark one. I can see all the fancy powers being handy for keeping me alive and my endurance up.

If you only do pve, you can take any primary set. But if you want to pvp with a stone, I advise you em or sm (or maybe elec), because they are the only pools which can detoggle acro easily.

Quite interesting...

Was actually looking for some help with my /stone brute, looking for a hybrid PvE/PvP pointers. Am I goner get a lot of stick for the primary I choose. Meh any ways, went for Electric Melee. To be honest I really like the two, played through to lvl39 mostly solo dur to limitiations to Pc spec and the overwhelimg numbers of MM's that frequanted the few teams I did join. LR's tp effect has come in quite useful during the PvE side of things, means skipping the teleport pool is an option. However, beefed up my machine of late and been in Siren's for most of it. Have found /stone to be a major disadvantage.
