[censored] Heroes?
Please, this thread was started to be about g*y superheroes in City of Heroes. If you wish to start a seperate thread to discuss a far wider range of gender politics in the real world, then please do so, but can we [u]please[u] bring this derailed thread back on course, before I claim the original topic as dead and ask Bridger to lock it.
Thank you.

(and if you have any plans on quoting John Grey, we'd better end this discussion right about now. I tend to become quite angry when I think about that stinking pile of doo-doo. The only other person even coming close to making me angry is Ayn Rand. Not much makes me actually angry)
[/ QUOTE ]
The assumption that I could want to quote someone like John Grey shows that you - despite your claim - don't understand what I am talking about and that you don't intend to change this since you seemingly want to think you already do, no matter what. This is getting quite annoying.
And if that alone would not suffice your statements show little reflexion and a very limited point of view. Your goals are noble, but your conclusions are fundamentally and obviously flawed (if you would care and actually take a look). You want to amputate an arm to get rid of a particularly nasty splinter in the hand. You may well realize one day that people, regardless of gender, don't want to have their arm amputated.
So, if it makes you happy, devote all your life to your cause while I rest assured that you will fail miserably. You will even achieve less than what might be possible to achieve, just because your loud-mouthed but flawed ideology appalls people that otherwise might have listened.
As a logical conclusion and to stop this thread from derailing any further I won't be listening anymore. I have had my share of propaganda. Thank you!
If it has eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.
Hey Sitriel, happy birthday!
Krank, if you want to discuss things like this, why don't you and Sitriel visit the offtopic forums? This sort of thing is exactly WHY they're there; so people can discuss offshoots of topics without wrecking those topics.
You can find them here.

us women
[/ QUOTE ]
You see, here's where you make two pretty weird basic assumptions. You kind of assume you "women" are a heterogeneous group. You also assume that no person who happens to have is genitals on the outside of his body could ever even begin to understand, sympathize, or wish to change things.
To me, both assumptions are simply wrong. First of all, I know enough women to know you aren't a heterogeneous group. You have more or less the same range of personality, interests, knowledges etc as "men".
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't remember making either of these assumptions. I know very well that men can, and regularly do empathise with women - I also know a couple of biological men who are, to all extents and purposes, female.
However, I do object to being told "what women want", and I apologise - but this is exactly what you have been doing. What happens if a woman (biological or otherwise) wants to wear make up, flaunt her sexuality, stay in the kitchen - respond to a man as her better? What's the matter with being proud, and rightly so, of your biological gender - but not striving to be identical in personality/knowledge and interests as those of the opposite?
[ QUOTE ]
Women have, for most of human history, been taught to like being in a certain way. That doesn't mean it's a good way. "What people like" is determined by the culture in which they exist.
[/ QUOTE ]
What people like is determined by the person, and the person alone. Whether or not they can be vocal about it is determined by culture.

Prove it.
There have been a million Years of Humans on this planet, I'm pretty sure you couldn't information get anything much further back than 8 - 10 thousand years. which a only a fraction of that existence.
Okay everyone, it's clear that the discussion about g*y superheroes in the game City of Heroes has been thoroughly hijacked by gender politics in the real world, so as of now I'm contacting Bridge and asking him to close this thread as the topic is dead.
Thanks to everyone who contributed with some interesting on-topic posts.
Peace.

Probably a good idea Crimson. A shame really, as it was an interesting thread until it got hijacked.

before it gets locked i'm going to jump in here. i don't roleplay on cox, its something i plan to do but have never really seen a easy way in.
yes there is a chance your going to get more [censored] toons appearing. the reason could be that after reading this there must be people other than me that are thinking to them selves if they could role play a [censored] toon

He could just remove the gender discussion (or move it to off-topic forum). There might still be some interesting things to say about g*ay heroes. Especially after PD is flooded by the pink handbag brigade!

He can't move it to the Offtopics (if that's what you meant); but deleting the off-topics bits of this thread might work.
It's certainly an interesting discussion - would be a shame to see it locked.

I agree, but as I have already politely asked for the off-topic posts to stop, and they didn't, I see no other option.
Perhaps we can start again somewhere and hope that people remain on-topic second time around.

I'm afraid that on a quick read, I have to agree - and these boards are not really the place for discussions of gender politics in the real world.
So, I'm going to lock this at the request of the original poster. If anyone objects strongly, or would like the thread re-opened, please drop me a mail and we can discuss it.
Thanks.

You mean women aren't homogeneous group, I think. Or then I am baffled.
Hey, I said homogeneous. Does it mean I was slightly on-topic?
