Fire/Rad
[ QUOTE ]
I'm trying to build a decent Fire/Rad, worthy of challenging and possibly beating an AV.

That is not happenning if you are alone
[ QUOTE ]
Also that would be good for PvP.

Sorry to be the bearer of the bad news but to have a decent PvP build you need to gimp your PvE one

Oh...it can be done.

But it will be sooo hard. Because of only one thing; Endurance. Your two toggles from Rad consumes high end. Also afaik all controller powers drain high endurance too. Yes you can rest while toggles on but i don't think AV will let you do this (in teams i can rest outside of his or her reach). Keeping up toggles and keep attacking is even hard for my Rad/sonic defender. But i can't remember if AV fights of Faultline was before stamina or not.
But as Archy said it can be done, with a huge luck on your side and full inventory of inspirtations.
With the epics you may be able to do it. Hibernate slotted with recharges gives you Invunrable resting fairly often.

Not really. The AOEs like Fire Cages tend to but you won't be AOEing other than having Hotfeet on.
I'd favour Illusion/Rad for AVs though as the PAs are a much better tank than the fragile munkies.

Even with nukes, shivans and temp powers, imps are far too squishy and melee oriented me thinks... maybe Illu/Rad would be a completelly different thing tho
I agree with dark here, imps are your main dam dealers and they are way too squishie; one or two (AoE) attacks from AV = dead imps.
Ill/rad makes a better fit indeed. (ofcourse lvl dif with AV makes a lot of difference) But still, what's the point really trying to solo an AV?

Hmm, think i'll have to look up that word

Yes, ill/rad is clearly the best for this kinda thing but it can still be done with a fire/rad.

To see if you can basically...like a good challenge. For instance both Imaginary and myself have solo'd Lusca just because we wanted to see if we could (not after i7 though).

You need Primal for power boosted Lingering radiation. Endurance would be managed with a mix of blues, conserve power and geas of the kind ones.

To test your limits? There are always egocentric super heroes who think they can take everyone down by themselves.
I tried to solo a few Monsters, GMs and AVs myself. Beaten Paladin with my Fire/Rad a few months ago (still on I8). Got my [censored] kicked by many others tho. AVs tend to be a bit harder to solo imo. Maybe you can do it with a few temporary powers and filled up insps tray. Still it should be pain in the [censored].
Myself, I have the most fun and feel more like a hero when I'm in teams. Never been the solo type.

Erm...i'm not one to generally take things the wrong way...but i'd hate to think you was calling me egocentric.
All i want to do is build a damn good controller with the powersets i've chosen...and i'm not going to go around after (and if) i beat a GM or AV and boast about it, i just want to see it as a challenge rather than make a toon thats easy to level and get to 50 in 6 weeks.
Sorry about that. Probably I explained myself wrong. I was talking of "real" Super Heroes like Wolverine, Human Torch and many others. They're heroes who like to try things on their own. I never said it was a bad thing. They rock
Fire/Rad is a good combo. You might be able to solo GMs/AVs, but it will be tough and will take a long time.

Fire/Rad is pretty amazing (right up there with fire/storm and fire/kin).
Could you 'solo' AVs? possibly. Is it going to be worth it? Probably not. If you want to try it, go for it.
I'd suggest taking a long hard look at Inventions with an eye to maximising +end, =rech, since endurance is one of the big things that will bite you in the [censored]. AM will help with this (hence the need for +RECH).
Rad infection and EF should help increase the life expectancy of your imps, but they will be pretty squishy vs. an av.
Good luck with it.

Couldn't agree more with what said here.
I know there are several posts to this question...but I'd like to get a more up to date version of what you guys think.

Any suggestions or comments that would help me build this to the best it can be would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
