The GLB League

Hello I am Blinding Steel the founder of a new Super Group (opened yesterday evening) called the GLB League.

What is the GLB League?
The GLB League is a Super Group for homosexual, lesbian and bisexual (GLB) players of City of Heroes, though we do not exclude heterosexuals from joining as long as they are not cruel to our members.

Why makes this SG?
I made this SG because I am fed up of going to some SGs and letting it slip (or just out right telling people) that I am a homosexual and getting a poor reaction. It is a SG free from homophobia where homosexuals, lesbians and bisexuals can meet people of with similar, with lack of a better word, interests.

City of Heroes is not a dating service!
Neither is our Super Group. We are just here, as I said before, to help people meet people of similar backgrounds and interests.

How can I join?
By sending either me (Blinding Steel) or Queerman (though I am not sure if he is willing I haven't asked him) a tell when we are online.

I'm a homophobe and wish to be cruel to you in some manner, how may I go about doing so?
Hm... I won't stop you, but I won't encourage you either. You are after all entitled to your opinion. XD

Well that's all, if there are any more questions just ask.

-BS

P.S. I am going to be underneath Atlas today at 9:00 be there if you want to join tonight or wish to hurl abuse in person.

Quick thing, I guess I didn't say why I am actually making this post... my bad. I basically wanted to tell everyone about this SG and to get opinions. So... post away.

P.S. I know my thing is Villainous_Hero, it was my friends idea and I am now regretting it

My SGs accept people who're Homosexal/Bisexual/Lesbian. Personally, I don't know why you'd get into a conversation where you would talk about that, but if someone says something offensive, be it about your sexuality or anything, you are entitled to petition them. I personally don't see a reason for such a SG, but feel free.

Well, you can change your forum name easily enough, in your "MyHome" control panel.

As to the SG, I must honestly admit to some surprise that you've had problems in-game. In the 2+ years I've been playing, I've never seen such an easy going and non-judgemental group of people. If you want to make such a group, be free and go ahead; but with such a name, don't be surprised if you get a lot of stick from the less mature players, and it's possible you may be fall foul of GM's with the name.

Still, I wish you the best of luck with your SG.

I doubt he'd care.

As for the SG getting Generic'd. I don't care either. I just set out to do this because it is something personal to me and thought it should be done.

This debate has come up before and didn't end well.

All I can say is CoX is a very open community as is, and gender orientation really shouldn't influence anything you do.

Ok, this is my OPINION

I think that getting all those who are Homosexual's together is NOT a good thing, its preety much saying, "LOOK AT US, WE'RE HOMESEXUALS SO LOOK AT US". No one is mean about if your straight or not. It is also going to be easy for you to be attacked by less mature players and makes you an obvious target.

Of course its your choice, but personally i am against the idea of this SG.

...Queerman didn't happen to have another blatantly suggestive name before that was changed, did he?

You said that CoX is not a dating service. You said this too, though. : Why makes this SG?

I made this SG because I am fed up of going to some SGs and letting it slip (or just out right telling people) that I am a homosexual and getting a poor reaction. It is a SG free from homophobia where homosexuals, lesbians and bisexuals can meet people of with similar, with lack of a better word, interests.

"Interests." Ill stay at this. Shouldnt your interest be playing the game? Which means, get xp, pvp, badge or any other sort of fun can this game offer. And its community of course, but not this kind of community. I just cant understand why a SG is based on people's sexuality. As FFF said, you could make a SG but not with such name because seriously you will get annoyed.

Okay this is a sensetive topic, maybe i better shut up but i think i have to say somethings.

First of all this idea is discrimination based. You're, as a [censored], doing it to yourself. Hidden Healer has a point. We are here to play a game, enjoy company of others. Not advertise our differences. In some point people came to me and suggest we should start a Turkish SG. I will say what say to them; "If you want something like this so badly, go ahead. But it is wrong to categorize people for their nationality, sexual orientation or gender..."

In short yes I am a Turk, yes I am a homosexual. So what? These are not who or what i am, these are parts of me, making me the man i am. You know they say whole X-Men thing related the homosexuals. If this is true what you're trying to accomplish is not the way of Xavier, more like Magneto.

If people give you trouble because of your sexual orientation, send a petition. But forming a SG for this not a good idea IMO. If you need company, come join us. Blinding Steel iirc very close to Psy-Knight and Bloody Wail in levels. I was teamed with Queerman as Knightly Defender so his level must be little higher. But please don't make discrimination while you are hurt by it.

Love and Peace

PS: I hope i didn't offend someone or hurt any feelings, as i always say, English is not native language and sometimes it is very hard to decide the gentleness of my words.

Hmm...Lesbians are [censored], last time i checked. So, shouldn't it be the GB League? Why do lesbians deserve their own letter?

&& What about aesexuals? Are they just to be ignored?

Wow, guess I should answer some of these things

I thought I had mentioned that it would be free from heterophobic and homophilia. It is just a place where people can join if they are a homosexual or a bisexual.

And to me saying homosexuals AND lesbians it is because the G word is censored and I just went through replacing it with homosexual. And normally the G word means guys hence why we are the GLB not the GB.

As for the name,I picked that as it drew attention to what we are but didn't use the actual words. It has actually helped us get a member already.

And I know people are apposed against this SG and I'm not normally one to do something like this, but until quite recently I have been a rather closed homosexual and am only now coming open about it and have been expressing it openly and this is one of those ways. And people like the idea of this.

P.S. As for Queerman's name queer actually means odd (which is why it was used to describe homosexuals in a sense some people think) so maybe he wanted to be called Oddman but it was taken.

There a Super Groups for certain ATs, certain genders etc. why not certain sexual preferences?

And? The player makes the character so we should be able to make a SG based on player qualities.

Uh, Femme Fatales?

Best of luck to the OP, SGs are a pain to run at the best of times, I find.

Really? My mistake, then. Must've misread something somewhere.

I'm actually all for this SG. Maybe it'll get Genericed, maybe it won't...but the name isn't as important as the thought behind it.

As an MMO, the most important aspect of playing is the social aspect to it. If someone feels they want to team with people who've had similar experiences in their life, to befriend and support each other, what's wrong with that? In saying that heterosexual people are allowed to join if they wish, the SG isn't being an exclusive group. It's just a group of like-minded people who enjoy the game.

I might not join, but I wish you all the best with this endeavour.

Actually, while people are entitled to their opinions, when playing City of Heroes and Villains, they are not entitled behave unpleasantly towards others.

I would strongly urge you and anyone else who experiences any homophobia in-game to /petition each incident immediately. Such behaviour is a violation of the EULA and will be treated seriously by our GMs.

Good luck with the SG.

Please don't open this particular can of worms here - there are whole websites and message boards dedicated to this particular issue, and they're far more appropriate places to discuss it.

Thanks.

There are? Whoops, didn't even know that was an issue. Sorry for that, B! Thought I was just making a silly comment .

I have a question about this situation. By homophobia i guess you mean insults. Or is it cover other situation. Like, lets say Hero X is forming a PuG, invites heroes from other zones. When everyone come together he/she saw one of them is member of this sg and say "You are member of this SG and i don't want you in my team". Is it violation of EULA? IMO You can't force people to play with others who she/he doesn't want to. Of course this is my opinion but what laws say about it? Just curious again.

Hmm on the other hand this kinda situation can divide ppl into camps. Anyway i shut up and waiting for an answer.

Thanks in advance.
