CoV what happend
just died.
I tried playing in character, but kept using stupid emotes at inappropriate times becuase of how my sense of humor works. Never quite managed the whole RP thing properly...

It's been a while since i played CoV and only recently came back so i've been wondering where the RPers meets these days to heh.
We tried a Clocktower meet, but it didn't really take off for some reason.

Personally, I've always thought the social type of meet as seen at GG, just doesn't suit villains that well. Mission based RP is far more appropriate for the villain genre I think.

It's around, there are a few people here and there but nowhere near as many as in CoH. The few villain RPers I've met have been due to putting 'Roleplayer' in my Bio and Team Search box, otherwise I'd never have met any recently. Really rather sad.

The real problem seemed to be that Villains are, by necessity, antagonists and solo. Most Villains are also INCREDIBLY self-centric, egotistical and paranoid (In a nice way ).
Heroes band together for the common good.
Villains band together until they find something better to steal.
Without anything meaningful to fight over, Villains will drop back to "I'm so lost" or "How much more power can I get?"; so Villain RP tends to only work in PvP areas, surprisingly.
The other thing is that MOST villains are RP'ers, by their very nature. It allows all the freaks out of our respective brains to play; in fact, some of the best Villain RP I've had is either in PvP or Hero/Villain missions.
Auto Assault/EQ/EQ2/FF also suffered from this as without a RP reason to be together; Villains work on their diabolical plans solo.
Without any disrespect to the fine RP at Clocktower, I always felt bored when there because there seemed to be no IC reason to be there.
I'm a RPer. =) Netherwound being my main RP character.
to be honest I think the whole GG thing needs to be scrapped in favour of Pocket D as it allows both sides to meet up, creating intresting RP events.

Never happen. You've got 2 years of RP history against you there. Plenty of people go to PD to roleplay, especially now whilst the ski chalet is open; but once that's closed, people WILL return to GG.

I'm currently trying to revive villain RP on Union with a themed group of people coming together for some RP fun. ^_^
Hopefully other people will follow our example and we can revive some of the RP spirit on the villain side.
"Needs to be scrapped"?
I'd say people are free to play wherever they want. If there are people who think GG is the hip place to be, there is in fact a need to retain GG.
I don't attend GG with Coile except very, very occasionally but nonetheless I steadfastly argue that GG has a very important role. It has been there long enough to have been there "always".
Telling people who RP at GG, or in Pocket D, or wherever, that they must cease their current activity and do as someone else tells them to is very arrogant. I could come up with dozens of reasons for people wanting to rp at GG but I'm not going to bother. The bottom line is that it is their choice, and they are free to choose so.
well,if im not mistaken the developers have stated 2 times now that theres going to be a hero+villain event
and i heard rumors they might be making a "Heroes and Villains fight a common enemy" zone
But that's game content, not RP content. RPing is a totally different thing, and it's what goes on at GG on a daily basis.

I see PD for me as a special occassion zone.
Too many griefers and crappy music to put up with anytime else. Last night for example a bunch of heroes in the chalet chatting with 6 idiots around them spamming powers and MM pets. I can ignore some things, but sod that!
what i meant was it gives chances for villain and hero co-op RP

If you have nothing useful to say, you have two choices: Say something useless or stay quiet.
Ive seen 3 things that point to it
1) announcment said "Heroes and Villains fight a common cause"
2)rumor about a zone for heroes and villains to fight a group
3)it makes sence when you think of it
What should also be taken into consideration is the fact that just coming from the Rogue Isles doesn't make someone a criminal.
What's to say that the Brute or MM standing in Pocket D leads a life of frenzied crime apart from the narrow minded view of the heroes that also frequent the club?
It would be perfectly possible for the afore-mentioned CoV toons to have a very heroic life, dealing tough justice to many of the groups of enemies available in the Isles (after all, there's so many Arachnos squads walking around, it'd be a shame not to beat them up, and the Skulls, and the Hellions, and the CoT. Hopefully you get the picture that we fight common foes by now)
Just because the Isles require a more 'enthusiastic' method of crime prevention, does not mean that every one you meet from there is a bad person. Hell, after seeing some of the things that have happened at GG I'm sure half the hero community belong in the Zig. (wasn't too long ago there was a fight breaking out almost every night, in public, with a large group of heroes stood watching like children in a school yard)
My own character Nightschild is based around the idea that he isn't evil, he just sees no difference between the Heroes and Villains other than the Heroes having a better PR team. He was given a very rough deal by Longbow early on in his career, and that led him to working for Arachnos, not any choices on his part.
I've started meeting quite a few Villain RPers recently, and the problems people raise about Villain RP makes the assumption that the people involved are all completely evil and selfish. This might be the case for some, but not for all. The types I hnag around with seem more like Mercenaries than Villains- they don't want to torture or kill people for fun, it just doesn't bother them if they have to do it as part of a job. Arachnos pays better and places fewer restrictions on its operatives.
And as Pistol said- in Comic Books (and other things as well), there are all sorts of situations where people supposedly on different sides end up being something other than enemies. Even if they ARE enemies- look at how much great dialogue there is between Lex Luthor and Superman at times. Enemies like that could be just as much fun to RP as friends or lovers for the people involved.
Ive recently started plaing on CoV again and theres No RP to be seen, what happend? I cant find anyone who roleplays, has the meeting place changed?
