I have no idea in this game, normally its when a superior force simply beats the [censored] out of people that doesnt have a chance to fight back. So I guess 3 people with very good skill can be called gankers. Cause what is generally in the zones cant fight 3 good people with good choice of ATs working together.
I have beaten the [censored] out of 20+ villains with an emp by my side(Elerith). Did we gank them? They didnt have a chance really.

Imag's right though, it's all about how someone perceives it. Is it being attacked by superior numbers? Or a superior force in terms of skill?

A lot of the time (back then) most villains were noobish, didnt work together and were generally cannon fodder. Most of the usual pvp'ers remained on heroes so you were fighting those that hadn't the skills or the knowledge. So wish you tried to do that on union as there was no way in hell you would have gotten away with it as for some reason there was a fair bit of quality around.
I still wouldn't class skilled people gankers if they are fighting superior numbers. That is skill and pwnage and calling them gankers is an insult to them really. However Im sure they be used to being called everything under the sun and im sure it wouldnt affect them (just make them enjoy slaughtering them again).

Forr example, the other day, someone was trying tos et up a 3v3 Arena match, but couldn't get a 3rd person to join their team, so I said I'd help out. We ended up fighting Xanthus an a couple of others, and they absolutely wiped the floor with us - but it was all skill with how they fought and used their powers.
Even numbers and even levels can never be called ganking, no matter how one-sided it is.

I was one of the three, you really need to learn to use Integration.
@MaxPowerz: TBH, the quality of the zones has gone up slightly, but not by much villain side from what I've seen of late. And as for Union, we did the same on our villains for a while. I didn't think all those flying scrappers liked us very much.

Gankin in my eyes depends on how many people atually HIT you. if there is an empath nearby not actually doing you any harm but buffing and healing your opponent, i wouldnt necessarily call that ganking, just cowardly.
Ganking is 2 stalkers AS'ing at once, or several blasters pounding, or 2 on 1.
Tbh i always thought it was like ganging up =/

If 2 people can take on say 10 people from my sg then I might as well quit now. I do remember your corruptor teams and was a laugh but 2 people wont dominate a zone .... well not one im in 
The thing lacking is communication normally and having someone just telling people what to do (or who to get) is all that is missing. My opinion is villains are underpowered compared to heroes but not by that much. It must be a defiant thing because not seen anything like that on union (2 heroes or villains dominating a zone) and I have spent just a tiny amount of time in the pvp zones (ok I admit it, I have spent lots of time in there).

Thing is, it's the perception of casual PvP'ers that Villain's are vastly underpowered, which means newer players don't want to roll them. You've really got to dig deep and find the right builds to really get a good villain team going.
If you ask me, the amount of people required to count as a gank is enough to reliably kill me.

Ganking always strikes me as a random gang-up on an enemy.
What if the Villain side has quite a few Stalekrs, and there's a Hero spamming Clear Mind? Or an Empath tipping the balance too far in the Heroes favor? Wouldn't a double of tripple AS on them be a justified attack?

I guess its a case of perception. A lot of people as already mentioned claim they have been ganked when they have been killed, i guess just to save face or somehting.
The way i see ganking is basically when its quite clearly an unfair fight and there is no possible way you could win.

In my view to be honest ganking in CoX is using team to repeatedly kill same people in short time again and again and again till they cry no more.
Its a double edged term to be honest since sometimes u are forced to gank in order to get out of a situation of being ganked.Some other times is just to become pure evil towards some morons in the zones >:]

its a fine line between fighting your way out of trouble and ganking, as far as becoming pure evil towards the morons in the zones, i assume you are referring to spammers, gloaters and people who are generally unpleasant?
Maybe im just soft in the head or something but even when playing on my villains i still refuse to play "Unfairly" i.e i dont gank and i generally dont attack lone toons that have no chance, unless of course they start it or they challenge me. Not my definitive playing style but generally how i play, i wont attack easy targets unless they give me reason to. Maybe thats the wrong philosophy for PvP, i just dont know. But i see the fun being in the challenge, rather then the ability to gloat over a high rep because i play the vulture game.
I agree with Thundorn on this matter to be honest, i'd consider a gank a fight where the odds are so stacked against you the liklihood of coming out on top is a futile venture.
I'd say everyone ganks at some time or another, but thats not necessarily a bad thing. A win is a win, however i think if you gank to acheive the win (anything above equal terms, 1vs1 - 2vs2 etc, you kinda lose all bragging rights)
It all depends on who im fighting and what kind of mood im in as to whether i myself gank. If i know the villain my group wants to attack, i'll hang back (alot of villains now :P). However if its a villain i don't like that much i'll take much pleasure in joining in on the action :P
Also depends on mood, if i think the group can handle it, i'll hang back and watch the fireworks, but if im just in an annoyed mood (if the enemies religiously say you suck after getting ganked), there is no force on heaven nor earth that could stop me from attacking relentlessly in any circumstances i could to win.
Now heres one, if your not a stalker or have no invisibilty powers, can you still stalk?
I think alot of players forget that other people only can see infront of them and slightly to the side, i know on my blaster i have followed a enemy, ducking behind trash canisters and hiding behind walls until a situation is favouring me (MM's use their minions to attack something, thus dropping bodyguard.
Would that be considered ganking or tactics?
