Xmas Party anyone?

Coile stepped a few meters away from the street vendor with his newly-acquired hotdog and took a bite. The weather was cloudy and the December wind was starting to get through his combatwear. Upgrading the insulation seemed like a good idea.

Next to him was a street lamp covered with all kinds of small adverts. "Join the Freedom Corps, Ms. Liberty wants you!" proclaimed one. Huge pre-Christmas fleamarket in Kings Row on the upcoming weekend. Church of the Lost seeking new believers. Angrily Coile pulled the ad down. Filthy traitors! Then his eyes caught a familiar logo. Pocket D.

Oh yes. The Christmas party that Nightsparrow had mentioned. Munching down the hotdog he said aloud, "Dresscode mandatory. Thank the sky goddess, but she might still end up wearing wrapping ribbons. She said so. And Nadia will be gone by then so it's not like I can go there with my wife either. All I can hope for is it not turning out to be a complete disaster. And should I get some new wear for it? Something seasonal? I'm not into fashion. Maybe Angel can give me a tip or something."

An elderly woman standing at the nearby bus stop eyed him with suspicion and after the monologue asked, "Are you talking to me, young man?" Coile flinched. "Uh, no."

The woman looked around inquisitively. "I don't see anyone else." Coile smiled a little. "I sometimes talk to my sky goddess." The woman nodded slowly, an understanding dawning. "Oh, I am sure that you do, young man." Then she started to wave her hand wildly. "Taxi!"

Coile shrugged finishing his snack. This city was chock full with all sorts of crazy people. Absentmindedly he wondered who else would show up.

"See you later, Nene!" Margret smiled, the mid-fourties woman waving to Nene as she passed.
"Thank you: Margret, have a: nice day." Nene said as politely as her voice synthesizer and fixed expression allowed, dressed in a pale blue suit with a handbag over her shoulder. Her heels clicked on the floor as she walked down DATA's hallways, to the bustling street outside filled will christmas shoppers.

"Merry christmas, Miss!" A jovial Santa Claus called out as she passed, responded to with a light nod. Nene knew about Christmas, but the sentiment was lost on her. She had purchased presents for what few friends she had, but that was only done as it seemed a 'right' thing to do.

Her head turned curiously as she spotted a flyer on the lamppost next to her. "Pocket D: Christmas Party?" she said to herself. Nene was not that much of a stranger to the interdimensional nightclub. What better place for a gynoid looking to associate and learn human socialization to go? And a Christmas party would bring more oppertunities for her to learn. Data and variables began to click together in her processors as she started to formulate an approach to this event.

Tara Rose Phillips sat in the café, slowly sipping at a lukewarm cup of coffee. The coffee was poor, as it always was in this place but it was where she had arranged to meet her contact even if the surroundings were crummy. She could hear the voices of her ‘sisters’ in her head. They wanted to get out and cause more destruction, but her iron will kept them in check, preventing them from manifesting in this reality. She idly wondered what would happen if they ever did manage to break her will and a wild howl echoed around her psyche, her sisters capable of reading her every thought. She dismissed it and resumed staring out of the window, watching the wretched inhabitants of the Rogue Isles go about their business.

Across the way, she noticed that a young man was reading a newspaper, folded over so that the headline faced towards her. The article displayed a headline that read ‘Dark Rose Tara Spotted In Bank Heist’ along with a less than flattering photograph of her. As the man turned the paper over, she watched his reaction as he looked down and the paper, then over to her, then back to the paper again. She smiled her crooked smile and waved cheekily to him. As he hastily got up and left, she felt a warm glow inside that only comes from putting the wind up people.

She took his discarded paper and examined the article. It was less than positive as usual but it was the advert that adorned the foot of the page that got her attention. Apparently there was to be a Christmas party at Pocket D, all heroes and villains invited. She smiled and drummed her fingers on the table. Perhaps a night out at the old place would do her good, especially if the girls were invited. A deep howl from the back of her mind confirmed their willingness to go. Tara’s wicked smile crept across her face and she began to plan what to wear for the evening…

Several hundred miles away, Saffron Mackenzie put down the faded plastic receiver and thought about what she’d just heard. The guesthouse in the Scottish highlands was adequate for her needs although getting a message out there was a task and a half. She’d managed only two phone calls home since she had arrived there last Saturday, the cost of international dialling prohibitively expensive.

She hadn’t intended to fly back to Scotland to trace her family’s history but the revelations that she had been given in Croatoa last week had left her with little choice. She thought about back home and looked forward to Thursday when she could at last board a plane to take her back to Paragon. There had been fliers going up around the city while she’d been away promoting a Christmas bash next Monday. Trust her friends in the Militia to be only too aware of any big parties going down. She made a mental note to check her wardrobe when she got back home and see if she had anything suitably seasonal. Until then, further conflicts with the spirits in the forest and the restless entities that were the Bean Sidhe called. At least she had a party to look forward to now…

I'm not familiar with how the separated instances work. Once I had to choose between Atlas 1 and Atlas 2. I didn't check but did Atlas 2 continue existing until server reset or until the last person in it left? Was it available for anyone else until it vanished?

What if for the first people Pocket D 2 is not available? People will be split then?

My doubts and confusion may come from me not having a clear idea how the game functions. If someone can shed some light here, please do.

The split at the moment is intentional, so Pocket D2 will exist until the end of the christmas event. It's just there to help with server load in the area.

Normally, on the Atlas Park 2 front, AP2 is created when AP1 reaches a certain limit, and will exist until there's no-one in it. Everyone can see it, everyone can enter it. I think the highest it got to was AP6 a long time ago. The same goes for any zone.

Back when Bridger and RockJaw went head to head (with a horde of heroes and villains) in Siren's Call, I was in SC8 ...

Promise me you keep the party going for me until the Hogfather finishes right?

Sleep deprivation nonwithstanding I should be IG up to small hours. Like, 4 am. Depends on IC tho where all the chars will be dispersed by then.

EDIT: Oh and thanks Max for the info. Much appreciated.

Looks like instance PD 2 is the place to be. It would be good if people would make an effort to notify all of their aupposedly attending friends about it so folks would gather in one place.

Well I reckon we just wait and see what transpires. If there's only one club going when we begin, we meet there, if there's several, hopefully we'll have sufficient internal communication to know where to go. I won't be able to access the boards tonight so I'll just try and track everyone down if I can.

I hope the event goes on past 10 although I will probably be gone by that point (early start). I'll have the VCR set for Hogfather if I can bring myself to watch it after last night. *sigh....*

I have several Villains I might break out too (Torgo, Mr Necropolis and Dr Spelimino).

Some of my characters should be showing up too.

Do not go gentle into that good night.

This afternoon, there was only one instance of PD, but should be a second one this evening.
