Our prestige prayers answered!
Very nice
Now if they only could get a rebate for all that extra prestige I have been paying I be sorted.

Here's a tip - once every two weeks, get a team together from your SG and farm pillbox turrets in RV for an hour or so - that'll pay the rent of most SGs

Only upto a point.
Posted in general yesterday but basically theres a point at which a 75 member sg all active 24/7 cant generate enough prestigeto equal rent due. (its at around the level of 3 plots below the largest).
And dont even get me started on the purpose (or lack there of) of rent and the fact im being made to rent something ive already bought...

A new 1x2 Workshop will be available costing 50,000 Prestige. It, too, can not have any Dimensional Anchors in it, and it is limited to 1 Worktable and 1 Storage object, as well as 1 Empowerment Station.
[/ QUOTE ]
if it's 1x2 you can only fit one item in there since you need the other square for door access, so it's 1 workstation/storage/empowerment not and. Or am I confused on this?

Great news for smaller bases looking to get somewhere, also great new for the earnings, i doubt we will see an Inf bump, although as all inf ever earned is recorded (look at the registrar desk), it isnt unreasonable to ask for imo. we'll see, but this is fab news for us all
3 Mp for the next 2 items we want for the hero base! w00t

YES! At last! We have a decent SG, it is fairly active atm, and wehave all the basic parts of the base installed so its nicely functional but we haven't been able to expand for ages!
This is good news Keep it up Posi!

Almost as bad as paying for something we make ourselves out of scrap using equipment we've already bought

In a 1 X 2 area you can fit 1 worktable, empowerment station and storage item depending on how you place them. Items cannot be placed within a certain distance of doors but they can still be placed in the square that a door connects to. For example my sg at one point had 2 wroktables, 1 empoweremnt station and 3 storage items in a 2 X 2 workshop so thats 6 items in 4 squares.

Yes but as it is designed to be of limited use and will probbly be used with the oversight room then you could easily place it so it only has one door, the same could go for the new medical and teleport rooms.

Ah, thanks, so I was wrong, couln't remember what size the smallest current workshop is (have 1 worktable, 2 empowerment stations, 1 salvage storage, 1 insp storage and 1 enhancement storage in mine). Makes more sense now.
a few weeks backi stuck a post in a thread somit like thos for how to change rent basicly instead of thecurent system thats worked out by how much your group has earned
you get a set charge for your base plot size starting with zero rent for the smallest base and going up from there. as the plot size a group use's is normaly a good indicatoin of how much that group can earn and aford to pay out pluss it also alows better management of base's as well you dont upgrade you plot size and ase untill you know your group can aford the rent
that way the devs still get the joy of charging us rent for nout and we get and easyer system to manage
There isnt a problem on earth that cant be solved with the proper aplication of hi explosive's

How about scrapping rent, prestige and salvage in one whole swoop and just have level limits to items usable/buyable?
If anyone can give me a solid reason that doesn't revolve around an unworkable currency system then I'd be glad to hear it.
Bridger's explanation, while laudable, simply implies that Cryptic want us to work for our fun; and then nerf the h out of anything that's more than remotely useful (Teleporters/Medbays/Enhancement Stations)
I.E. If you gave every level 50 character access to ALL Base purchases, what would be the failings in that?
Simple words please; and no use of "Having to work for it", as that's a concept that goes against the rest of the game and the idea that almost all of us have of fun. Work is not fun.
This is true and can be very hard work sometimes but i think a reworking of the system is in need and is in the works already. I do think that at the moment prices are far too high for the income gained and then the calculations for rent are far from rational its like taxing a charitable institution based on how much they recieve in donations for buying the stuff they need to help people, and then taxing them for the stuff they now own on a monthly basis. Which in itself is double taxation and shouldnt be done for the charitable work our heroes do for the people of Paragon City.

The simplest and perhaps most popular (certainly with me) solution would be to STOP charging SGs to place items they've built themselves.

er.. ok.. 2 things are discussed here, and i think ur all wrong
1x2 squares is enough to fit 1 workbench, 1 salvage rack, 1 enh storage (not the insp storage tho) even if the room has 2 doorways (ie a corridor). dont complain about stuff that actually is a great solution.
Rent: very hot debate. i can see a very usefull reason for paying rent, regarding gamequality, but i do agrea we pay it to often/too much. as i have led 1 SG in CoH, and 1 in CoV during my time in CoX (oct 2004-)and both been 2 huge SGs, i can say that even large SGs tend to risk withering and abandonment if its not ru actively and with comitment. it takes for a full SG 3-6 months to virtually die, if its not taken care of. The purpouse of Rent (if i am to read between the lines) would be to avoid big SGs that has shrunk in size/activity to control a big base. as u no longer can afford the rent as ur SG slowly gets inactive, u have to sell off rooms/equip, to make it work.. therefore ur SG will always have a base that is suited for the activity/size of the SG. at most we earned in Violators 1.2 mill/week for a short period of time, and as lowest, we been down to 600k/week.. if we where to stuck on our low-mark, we wouldnt be able to expand much more, since we at this point pay aprox 650k in rent... if we where to stick to our high-mark, we would be able to pay for a twice as large base.. and im sure no1, wants to raid an outdated, dying SG, that 'used' to be strong.. since the base would defend itself, not bothered how many active members actually control the SG at that point.. and that would be wrong.
Rent forces us to adapt base-size to SG-activity as SGs has a history of having their ups and downs. but as i said earlier. the rent might(?) be too high or too frequent.
note: regarding having the 3rd to best plot-size and founding it......... i can see why for RP-reasons.. but tbh.. thats one major big base to defend in a raid.. and i cant see how that would be succeeded with only 16 defenders. we have 12x16 square base, and i will not go above 16x16 since it would be impossible to defend.. i even doubt ill get that big.. 12x16 fits our needs perfectly (tho 16x16 might be prefferred by thoose that choose to make diff layout)

Err can I get a WOOT! on that.
GJ Devs for listening to our pleas and reviewing what's going on - a 25%ish boost to Prestige will do very nicely thanks. The new rooms also sound ideal both for startup SGs to get a nice functioning base and for those of us with more established bases to tinker some more!
And it sounds like Posi and States are still looking at the larger groups currently so we could yet see more goodness!

This week Statesman and I (among others) will begin looking at the larger Supergroups and determining where the shortcomings are at that end of the system and figure out what we need to implement in order to get larger Supergroups to a level where both they and we are happy.
