Nice tracing there Gill
For some reason I always seem to prefer the sketched version over the inked version of a piece. I guess to me it feels like some of the detail is lost. I remember a Hulk comic drawn by Adam Kubert where he used a digitallly painted sketch for a transformation sequence. It was awesome, it just looked really gritty.
Thanks for the feedback thus far guys!
Mesmer, if this were to be an ink-only piece, I would have inked all the textures and intricate details in. But since this is a full color piece, the inks are really more like a transition stage, to polish it up so the final version in color will show all the details and bring it all together. To give you guys a better idea of where I plan on taking this piece, the location is a moonlit jungle. So I will have a lot of fun playing with the lighting. Countess Ivy has really fair skin and white hair so I anticipate her jumping right off the page considering the background. The slightly darker grey in the background is going to be the rest of the jungle scene that I will add in color with no hard lines so it wont pull away from the character. I will also add some atmospheric effects to establish depth of field.

looking forward to it
wow, just hearing (reading) you talk about your work shows what kind of artist you are.
Lighting; no hard lines so it wont pull the attention away from the character; i'm impressed.
You really know your stuff and everything shows that you love what you're doing.
Keep up the good work!
(and give me a discount ,
just kidding )

Anyone can guard fire.. ask a little favour and all you get is a look *mutters off* pfft!

Ahh, but they can't! It takes a certain type of person to be able to maintain the flame at a precise level of light/heat. The 'certain' type of person, of course, being a great one.
All right folks, Countess Ivy is now complete!
Wow! Okay, so she's evil, has an eyepatch, really pale skin, and a venus fly-trap as her best friend, but I'd still ask her out.
Good job!

Gill, as always, stunning work.....dammit, i need some money!!
Out of interest, how are things coming with the Statics Son stuff? That really is one of the best threads I've seen related to this game, you know. Who says the community sucks
We built this city on Rock and Roll!
Thanks Coin! The Static's Son art, although I really enjoy working on those characters, had to be put on hold so I can work down my current queue of pending orders. Once my schedule is more flexible and the new sites are launched, I'm hoping to finish those up.
Stunning absoultely stunning, what was the total amount of hours you put in? because i can deffinetly tell it took a lot of time and effort into making that. Keep up the good work

Thanks Omega. Hmmm, I'd estimate that the total time spent on Countess Ivy was around 18 hours.
Now for the next work in progress! The very first commission piece last year was a pencil combat scene for Missy K, which is now being upgraded to color. Here are the inks right now: Missy K

Really impressive! Bravo!
Kingwill: And a VG-piece sounds great pious.
Tell me about it!
I'm thinking everybody gives me a screenshot and I'll go work with Gill, then return with a masterpiece!
But that'll prolly not be anytime soon.. like months!
