I'd definitly be up for this! Would probaly prefer a league tbh, as being knocked out straight away would take a lot of fun out of it IMO.

Rules as i see it regardless of how you set up the matches (althoug i like the idea of 2 matches each per player, 2 poitns for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss then make a ladder at the end and you start to challenge eachother, or go for a tournie at the end. basically fast knocouts = no fun); test server, rated rules, they are the only reules .

For the knockout tourny i think the wimbledon seeding would be best with each match being a best of 5. This way if you don't do great you have a couple more chances. And although knockout is a bit meh, this way we could perhaps do all the matches on one night.
Make it top 16 from the league (if there are that many). That way it will be done in a 4 hour stint. Or break it up over 2 days and 2, 2 hour sessions.
For the league though it might be good to do 'best of 3', twice and count the 2 best results for points - meaning you could total 6 points for 2 wins and anything else, 2 points for 2 draws and anything other than a win, 3 points for a win and 2 losses and 4 points for a win and 2 draws.
Would give a little bit more variety in the table and should hopefully give everyone a chance to get some points.
i dont think there is much need to credit 'losers' with many points, the harshest thing is being eliminated. i would rather play at the bottom of a league with no chance of winning, than be eliminated early on. a top 3 can be announced monthly maybe? or even reshuffle a ldder once a month? just ideas, but dont kick ppl, they hate it, and no one is guaranteed to pwn, no one.

I think you misunderstand Plight.
I'm suggesting a tourny in addition to the league. The league will run until everyone has fought each other twice (that's 2 fights with each one being a best of 3 with the scoring as per post above). So no-one will be eliminated as such and will only finish when they have fought all other contestants twice.
Then the top 16 from the league will have a tournament afterwards with a wimbledon seeding type affair from the results/table order the league has produced...i.e. league winnder is seed 1, runner up is seed 2 etc etc.
Then we all get together for a Royal Rumble or 2.
Aye go on then, i'll sign up. Always game for a sound whooping from you guys.

seeing as only nrg/ blasters have nova i imagine it to be a lot less devastating than you imagine

not that i use TB, but elecs have thunderous blast, yes that's right, yet another tier 9 blaster primary that isn't called nova. thought you would know this being fire / fire

Well your right in reguards to the name of the "nuke" Plight. But I was just saying this in regards to everyone trying to take out as many as possible with thier initial attack due to the chaos that would happen in a massive free for all

Hmmm...time to get to grips with Ruby on Rails i think.

For me, if you're going to go 1 v 1, blasters are the most fun - reminds me of Doom, Timesplitter 2 or Goldeneye - especially Royal Rumbles.
So, this is an enquiry/discussion on who would be interested in a blaster only PvP league and/or knockout tourny?
Say 20 blasters. Lvl 50 matches. Play each other twice giving 38 matches in total. Play the league first then go for a wimbledon style seeding for the tourny? Or just random match ups whilst the league is running?
Or just a knockout tournament on it's own without the league in a best of 5 match? Or all of the above?
Thoughts please.
