I'd prefer an Ultimates continuity, I'd find that easier actually than keeping an IRC set continuous to the "live" CoH based storyline. But that's my personal preference, I'm willing to go with the concensus.
Lots of us have expressed an interest, I'm certainly willing to give it a go. I'm even willing to try simultaneously roleplaying 616 on CoH, 616 on IRC and Ultimates on IRC, although I think that will require a lot of sleep beforehand. 
So, with that in mind, and since there does seem to be interest, what's the next step?
The next step is deciding a time for the test session based around when interested parties can be present.
Also, nothing stopping those who want to join in but may have difficulties with keeping two versions of the same character from bringing a new character in.
Currently there's 4 versions of Fusebox and 4 Jessica Kade's in my head. That explains everything about me. @_@
OK, as part of the next step then, people will need the IRC server information!
I would rather not put it up on the forum as anyone can read it, so if those interested fire me a PM, I'll reply with the login details.

Not sure if this is necessary or not, but...
Is it worthwile asking people to give certain personal information (specifically age and country of origin) since on the live servers this information is given, and public channels are (technically) moderated.
We tend not to run at PG13, graphic torture and murder break it I believe, along with pornography rules IIRC. I'm not saying it's likely to be an issue, but I know some of our newer members are under 18, and if we don't know who mods can't ask them to leave an unsuitable channel if it ever does become an issue.
Basically it's to cover Lorne's back, since we're running on a private server, so if anyone got into trouble it would be the owner.
That said, I'm over 18, so gimmie the server details.

616 is the traditional Marvel universe.
Ultimates is a retconned Marvel universe.
Aoa is... I've no idea!
MUD is a Multi User Dungeon. The precursor to MMO's. Text based and played over the telnet protocol.

AoA - Age Of Apocalypse. It was a series showing what happened if Charles Xavier had been killed before his time, and the resulting after effects. Not sure how it'd work for GG though.
616 is the regular Marvel Continuity. Think of that as the continuity at GG at present on Union.
Ultimate is the new Marvel Continuity, cleaning up backstories, modenizing some older characters and meaning that you don't have to read all the hundreds of back issues to read the newest comics and understand.

Correct.
For Paragon it could be that during the Rikti war the vanguard and other large hero groups failed in their endevours, leaving it up to villain groups of our paragon such as the crey and the council etc to be the ones to fight and eventually win (after a longer period of time) the rikti war.
Now those first villain groups have come to power, paragon protectors patrol the streets, superpowered beings are taken openly for testing and used for entertainments, Normal humans are becoming increasingly rare as crey's enhancment operations are becoming cheaper and easier to get. The rest of the world has cut off the city nicknaming it Pariah City.
Super powered being such as arachnos have slowly started to challenge the power of the Crey and others, they are just as nasty as they would have been, a smaller number of people have survived, remembering the heroic ideals the vangard taught before and are trying to stick up to all warring factions while still staying out their way.
Obviously there would need to be a different meeting point as the statues would never have been build and it would be dangerous to have an open meeting but a meeting would have to happen. Also this makes sure there's a built in newbie reason for joining - they wish to join forces to try regain back some of the old ideals of heroism.

Hmm. Sounds interesting. I'd be willing to give it a go. In fact, if you give it about 20 years between present and what we may as well call The Event, I can even come up with the perfect character.

I would adore playing an AoA thing again.. There's a few thing I can do with TK and many many things I can do with any of Pink's kids and lots of othercharacters I've never made for coh since it's not the right sort of setting for them.

My personal vote is also for an 'Ultimate' style. I don't feel it's there to replace GG or anything, it's just, as Ironclad put it, a nice twist.
There's still going to be the 616 GG, and still people, including myself who will attend (from time to time in my case anyways)
