If you happen to also know about Marvel's Ultimate and 616 universes, that is. All food for thought. As for those details, I'm sure some kind of schedule can be arranged.

Aww. No Galaxy Girl 1602?

I'm interested. Bit confused by all the slang used tho :P

Marvel's 616 Universe is the one that's been about since Marvel started, and is the one everyone's widely aqquainted with. Because it's old, and had many different writers and stories, lots of conflicting things occured in backgrounds. Ultimate Marvel universe was made so that these backstories could be streamlined, characters could be modernised if needed and it meant that comic buyers didn't need to go through a whole load of back issues to get up to speed.

I don't think we'll need an elaborete combat system, we didn't need one at GG...

[/ QUOTE ] Seconded.

[ QUOTE ]
I think we'd need a variant of GGOOC, which would also serve as a list of those online at that time? (Mandatory to join, chat on if wanted?)

[/ QUOTE ] A lobby channel, with the topic showing what channels are publicly open perhaps?

I'm up for an "Ultimate Ironclad", I've been trying to Ultimatise him already

How would we do combat then?

What about missions?

Would we use any "rules" beyond "Respecting others."?

And Z has a handy little dice script

Missions can be GM'd just like any IRC roleplay.

I've never taken part in IRC roleplay, hence the questions

Well... Four of us tried the freeform IRC roleplaying last night, and I must say... 10 hours...

It's fun!!!

Okay, been at work in the creative labs, and here's the basic background for the 'Ultimate' Galaxy Girl concept, a proper name still pending. Below is the IC background, and when I get back later the rough mechanics will be up, as far as I've gotten with them in any case.

IC Setting.
On May 23rd, 2002 the Rikti, a race of alien lifeforms from another dimension, invaded the capital cities of the world, with a large force attacking Paragon City, prior infiltration and espionage giving them the information of critical targets to attack. The heroes proved to overcome the estimations of the Rikti, and through a six month campaign the two sides fought a vicious and bloody war until November, when a team of heroes infiltrated the Rikti Homeworld and shut off the portals established underground, providing logistical support and reinforcements to the invading army. With no support from home, the Rikti soon were routed from the battlefield, their aggressive offense giving way to a guerilla-style of defense deep beneath the city's sewer network.

Many heroes lost their life in the war, including Kelly Graham, AKA Galaxy Girl, who even in her declining years took up the battle and, using the last of her powers, gave Ms. Liberty and others the strength and vitality to escape, saving many of the city's inhabitants in the process. As a tribute to the woman who would help them not only against crime, but with simple problems and give out advice, a tall statue was erected behind Freedom Court, to remind the city and inspire new heroes being trained by Freedom Corps.

The relevant safety of the area, being in close proximity to Freedom Court and the large amount of super-powered traffic that visited lead to the area surrounding to become a shopping centre, many of the city, and worlds, famous chains along with indepentant stores, clubs and resturaunts setting up shop. Civilians came for the safety while shopping, and heroes came to visit the Court, and relax in their free time.

In early March, 2005, one of the cities heroines called her fellows to arms and lead a show of force against the Council, a mysterious group who had taken control of the Fifth Column in a coup d'état, on their home turf of Striga Isle. As time passed, heroes soon began to group up by the statue at the time the meeting was called, 9pm, to gain strength in numbers, valueble allies in their battles against the cities villains, and friends and loved ones to support them, who understood the rigors and strife of hero life. Even civilians -whether relatives to the heroes, curious shoppers or herowatching fans- dropped by to chat, draw inspiration in their simpler lives, or simply be able to boast to friends about who they discussed the weather with that night.

Mechanics:
A pilot session to test out and see if it works will take place. The time and date for this has not been decided yet.

Those interested can use this thread to say so and post a basic character description of what they look like, and information that other characters are liable to know from TV/Newspapers and et cetra.

There will be a main OOC channel, and then the IC channels such as the statue. The topic of the IC channels will contain information such as weather and other information. The OOC channel topic will contain the names of public IC rooms for people to enter.

Rules are simple and follow the common sense rules that are currently in place at GG, don't godmod, respect your other players and try to have a nice time. Operators in the channels have the power to kick and ban players on an IP level, though a kickban will be for serious or repeated offences.

Missions that take place will be run by players and utilize a freeform system. Care must be taken not to abuse the level of trust and power that freeform gives. Make sure not to godmod.

I think that's more or less for now, though any questions and additions, feel free to ask/suggest.

It's certainly an interesting idea Z. Allow's you to "start anew" with your character if you wish, rectify any mistakes you may have made with them and not have to worry about explaining it to people as, in the ultimates version, it never happened anyway.

I've been thinking about this all day, and managed to come up with an 'Ultimate' Max, so I'll chat to Z on MSN later to discuss.

Not that I'm implying in any way that Hiki needs some retconning, but I think they'll be an ultimate Mina in there somewhere.

Now if only I could work out away to apply the same changes to the live version...

Sara Revision 2.0? A simpler story, no insanity.

Although I kind of like the idea of Lazarus Fortune, from the start.

just a note on the game being on a fan site -

www.cityofzeroes.com (i think it might be .net?)

it has a game on it using the atlas park map etc. I would think as long as you're not aking money from it and there's all the correct copyright labels you might be alright.

I can't settle on a character tbh. I want to use Ironclad but I'm just a bit worried his "Origin" is a little too "Hokey and old fashioned". Everyone else has these super modern slants.

Actually would it be possible to discuss my ideas with someone later on MSN?

and now I fear I've put a stick in the wheel or something, and sort of convinced FFM and Zortel to keep the IRC GG in line with ingame GG...

Personally, for reasons I can't really put in words, I feel very uncomfortable with this alternate version.

But, let's give you all a chance to have their say.

Pro's? Con's? Feelings?

The Grav Mistress, Mistress of Gravity

If you have nothing useful to say, you have two choices: Say something useless or stay quiet.

Sadly, this is on indefinate hiatus, the 'Ultimate' GG thing. The main reason for this is due to several of the players who currently play CoH expresing concern at keeping the two different versions seperate, which is understandable. We can't all pull a Z.

But current continuity RP can still take place on IRC if people want to interact with characters whose players have left the game.

Hmmm well I think I'll just stick to GG then Was interesting as an opportunity to add a twist to characters, but if we're just essentially "extending" the rp time for the game...
