The team as far as I can tell. Let me know if I've made a mistake please:

Dante-blaster-Amber Banshee
Dutch_Barbarian-blaster-Extrisity

Leif_Roar-tanker-Diamondskin
Finn29-tanker-Manolith

Pious-scrapper-Dragonfly
Hot_Head-scrapper-Tatters

Blitz Arrow-defender-Blitz Arrow
Battleflag-defender-Devlin Saint
Ashen-defender-Brother Tchall

Universe-controller-Booster Ice
_Max_-controller-Hawkshaw
Cognito-controller-Astrophobia

To my inexperienced eye it doesn't look a bad mix; a bit controller/defender heavy if anything.

Here are the two teams. I've given a little bit of thought but not too much. Any problems?

Team A
Dante-blaster-Amber Banshee
Leif_Roar-tanker-Diamondskin
Pious-scrapper-Dragonfly
Blitz Arrow-defender-Blitz Arrow
Ashen-defender-Brother Tchall
_Max_-controller-Hawkshaw

Team B
Dutch_Barbarian-blaster-Extrisity
Finn29-tanker-Manolith
Hot_Head-scrapper-Tatters
Battleflag-defender-Devlin Saint
Universe-controller-Booster Ice
Cognito-controller-Astrophobia

Are we too support based at the moment? Remember, we still have 4 slots to fill, they could be tanks, scrappers and blasters.

If you are worried about lack of damage, then it depends on support class. Personally, Astro is taking assault + tactics, and will be debuffing damage resistance / defence, so although wont personally be doing a lot of damage (although mind control can be nasty damage wise), will add a lot to damage output.

Depends on defenders / trollers. If enough take assault / tactics pool and can buff/debuff enough, this will add a lot to damage. Empaths not the best at buff/debuff damage tho, so really depends on the sets.

I think we should flesh out teams by +2 each tho, seeing as we should anticipate 10-30% non attendence each week due to commitments / illness/ holidays etc.

My Controller is Mind/FF, so is not much of a buffer at all, and won't be taking the Leadership pool either, in order to save on Endurance costs.

So we'll have to see what the two Defenders in Team A are, and then see about whether we need that extra damage/aggro management

Hey, im a pure debuff/soft holds AT, but i am taking alot of attacks as the recharge in T.A is long if that helps with damage.

Cognito- Astrophobia is the fear of celestrial bodies and stars, Astraphobia is the fear of storms and lighting( just to help with the name not knocking it, just thought u wanted the name to be as ur character description is "projecting her/his fear of storms, so a mind/storm troller".)

well hopefully we will get one more blaster and scrapper, still thinking at least one kheldian would be cool story wise ( thinking like martian manhunter in JLU )
can't wait for thursday now...

oh and will we ever being doing task forces IC? like we get together earlier and try one or on another day?

Organised TF are great!

And in-character, organised TF are even better!

TFs sound good although I've never done one before. I don't doubt that as long as we stick with this we'll see a variety of approaches to play, maybe even a team split. Anything is fine by me as long as people are getting something out of it.

If anyone knows someone who'd like to join(not this week ideally)please let them know and tell them the AT preference:

As regards the rest of the team I'd say we're looking for Firstly scrappers and tankers with blasters needed least(the aggresive nature of defs and trollers could make up for this...I think). Agreed? We seem to be pretty good for healing but lowish on damage.

I must take the time to look at planning a character. Will I be disadvantaged at later levels by not doing this?

Isn't that a kind of odd viewpoint there? You say you don't need blasters, but you're low on damage? Blasters are damage kings, there is NO way a defender or controller can match their damage output, no in lower levels. An illusion controller can do it, but ONLY after they get all their pets, at level 32+.

Blasters > Scrappers > Tankers - Def.

In Teams, Scrappers are progressively less valuable as they are solo focussed (some sets have more AoE than others of course). Id say we are looking for blasters first def. In fact, its probably best to have a debuff defender with leadership pool than it is to have a scrapper. And tankers will not be particularly helpful damage wise.

On reflection, in order to up the damage, I can play Astra as a storm/psionic defender. This will up the damage inficlicted directly, the assault/tactics buff, and the defence/damage resist debuff which should make things much more focused in terms of damage?

Also means I dont have to take gale!

I can play either way, so let me know... I would think defender option more damage heavy, but it might depend on if we fill last few slots.

Thanks for the responses All.

Cognito, it's up to you. I don't want to sway you at this late date. Okay then a couple more blasters needed and tanker/scrapper places for the last two. That would even things up I suppose. Of course there might not be 4 more people who want to join us. No matter what, I'm sure we'll manage. From an RP/IC point of view, that's just the kind of group we are.

As one who loves scrappers, I'd say you are a tat wrong, yes we can solo more easily then others. But in teams we are better, as a good defender can keep my health up while I focus on the one thing we do best, doing lots of damage fast. I had missions with a team where I didn't touch the heal buttons at all, infact even trough several missions in a row.

And I agree, blasters are the king of damage over scrappers. The blaster dishes it out even faster.

Im not knocking scrappers. I just have a fairly simple rule of thumb - as team gets bigger AoE > single target. Scrappers do relatively badly out of this formula, but you have to look at sets too - I view spines scrappers as more valuable in a big team than ice blasters for instance.

Ultimately, since scrappers are the most solo-freindly class, they are the least team freindly - not that I they are bad, its just not what there focus is. I once had the pleasure of ripping through +3/+4 mobs in the hollows like butter with six radiation defenders for instance. When enemies hit you 5% of the time for 5% of their damage and you hit them 95% of the time with +100% damage against enemies with no resistance, the world is your oyster

We have more single target attacks yes, but that allows us to focus on the luits and bosses more.
Tho with my scrapper I team more then I solo and when I'm doing AV's with my regular team, I am on cleanup duty. Killing the minnions arround the AV. And I do a fairly good job, if I may say so myself.
I can honestly say, any team will work (even with gimped builds), if the persons know how to play with each other.
Debuffing is cool, but you need to do damage too if it is to work .

Battle,

After seeing all the support to your idea and the fantastic bios posted, and seeing that there still seems to be room on one of the teams, I've decided that my desire to be part of this must prevail over the wish to save my last Union slot for another concept.

So, if there's still room for a Ma/Regen scrapper, I will make one up asap and relocate my designated WS to Defiant.

Posted

Eeeeek not a Ma/Regen - the king of solo'ers! all single target attacks and a secondary entirely devoted to the self!

Go on, treat yourself to a team based scrapper!

cognito, please quit with the build talk. the team is fine.

I promise she'll be a very altruistic and team-orientated one of the sorts

Lotus

Glad to have you with us. Now, please let me know your name asap so I can list you in a team. Oh, and post a bio on The Militia thread when you can please.

Thanks

Thanks, and will do - I won't be back with access to the game until late tonight though, but I'll create and post ASAP

Thanks Lotus

Here's a thought: Will our teams be able to fight in the arena or are there too many of us?

Of course you can... But would you WANT to go beating up your friends? Hehehe...

But sure, you can easily set up FFA style matches in there, not a problem. I assume you're after a "danger room" style training area maybe? It kinda works for that purpose, but let down by not being able to select the map...

Arena for me = no. I don't pvp, period. IC or not I'm not a fan I'm afraid.

Also, though it's been posted before, Brother Tchall Empathy/Archery. I'm going to be taking several archery skills, it's not much extra damage but it's some. As for power pools, we'll see when I get there. I tend to just take what's cool. Though IC Brother Tchall will probably try to find ways to take powers that are useful, since he's meant to be team based as a character anyway. We'll see what I think will help the team most each time.
