There's way too few mind controllers around, considering it's the best set... so go mind

Depends... Mind isn't so good if you want to hold your own... Stone/Storm is very good for PvP. Ice/Storm is also very good.
I'd either go Stone or Mind.

I have to say the aoe immobilise + freezing rain is awesome

Erm, I've got an earth/storm, and found him lots of fun to play so far (he is the fastest toon to 7 so far, by a clear distance).
Mind/storm would be good too, with the fun of TK/hurricane for putting mobs into corners, like so many naughty schoolkids. 
And i like grav, just not sure how much synergy there would be between the sets.

Just started the 4th. Only at 12 so no expert, but can confirm great fun. Is heavy on end though 
. But imps and lightening storm if not FTW will be a good laugh and there is definately synergy between the sets. Hopefully she will be good at pvp to.
grav/ actually goes really well with /storm since the AoE immob from grav doesn't stop the foes from falling over when you put Freezing Rain down.
Aha! That'll be it then X. My only experience of grav is on my little dom, where AoE immob = faceplant

I hope you'll keep at it . While levelling my own fire/kin I teamed up quite abit with a very good fire/storm (Xiddo). It was clear that storm got alittle overlooked because all we heard from the team was 'sb plz' and 'yay Fulrcum' while it were the storms that kept the team alive(mostly).

Got a Grav/Storm myself at lvl 7 and he is a lot of fun.

I highly recommend Mind/Storm, I mean anyway it is very popular and a (relatively well laid out, i hope) guide is here
I've got a lvl 15 Stone/storm and it's been a blast so far, the main problem I've found is I seem to loose end like you wouldn't believe
Never had that problem on my Earth/Storm.
Run Steamy mist, hurricane and SS all the time, with 3 slotted stamina and 2 end reds in mist and hurricane my end doesnt move even if I spam powers like theres no tomorrow.
all I have to add is the most fun I am having on this game atm, is with my Fire/Storm
Ice/Storm.
Ice Slick + Freezing Rain + Snow Storm is great!
Tornado is the only reason I keep Frostbite in my build to keep them from being thrown around. Nice (if small) AoE damage.
Thats the AoE thats small, not the damage
I have a level 13 mind/storm and I can say that it is a very good combo
Good fun to play, good damage (enough to keep it good in PvE and PvP) good amounts of controll, debuffs, knockbacks, sleeps, immobs, confuse and later on, fear!!
I am the Blaster, I have filled the role of Tank, Controller and Defender
Sometimes all at once.
