Fire/storm is incredibly fun, and its a rare combination. It does seriously insane damage, not to mention looks really nice. Only thing its a bit of an endurance [censored], bu thats mainly on storms part.

I'd go with Fire / Storm too for the fun of Fire Cages > Freezing rain with maybe a snow storm and/or flashfire thrown in for good measure. With the -knockback of cages you can use Tornado and not have it aggro the entire map too. Plus stacked -accuracy from Smoke & Hurricane. And all the knockback under the sun if you take Bonfire too.

Although Grav / Storm would be pretty cool too, but without the Knockback control of Fire Cage(s). Good single target damage though, esp at lower levels.

I have to concur. My fire/storm controller is almost level 39 and she has been a blast to play. I have found that the storm set makes up for the slight lack of hard control offered by fire, while the fire set's damage output is superb. Fire imps are awesome. The combination of fire and storm is also visually spectacular. While I originally chose storm for conceptual reasons I have been so impressed with it that I am rolling a storm defender too.

You'd be pushed to fit Steamy Mist & Hurricane into a pre 20 build if you're going for Stamina & a travel power anyway given their from the secondary set.

Good choice!!! I've found the Storm set to be my favourite out of all the sets I've tried.

The beauty of storm as a controller secondary imo is:

1) Coupling hurricane with an aoe immob for ridiculously easy herdicaning/acc debuffing.
2) Providing tornado and lightning storm with knockback protection by using an aoe immob every 10 seconds for silly aoe damage.

I recommend ice/storm/fire as grav immob doesn't protect from knockback apparently (rumour or true?) and heartily recommend ice because the -Rech of storm and ice stacks perfectly for big team protection (shiver spam, snow storm, arctic air, freezing rain, ice slick).

That and the beauty of 3 confuse SO's in arctic air, plus aoe immob, jack frost and storm pets is stupidly fast and safe killing. (although for large, hard spawns you need to set them up first with ice slick+freezing rain from out of line of sight to avoid you or jack getting one shotted by an alpha strike before you can get your arctic air on them for a while and let the confuses kick in)

Ice/Storm. Awesome synergy.
