PvP Arena Weekly Workshop - Tuesday Nights
Although this is a great idea. but why not make it wens night at 8:30 on test. as thats when we do a lot of praccy PVP and test builds etc anwyay - that way you can join us. and even have a few mixed teames too of hero/villans
Just a suggestion anwyay..
I'm guessing it's because Kin was being considerate, and not wanting to step on anyone's toes. That said, it would make things a lot easier to try to get everyone together on one night, and would also have the benefit of being able to test villain tactics vs heroes. Also, you could start tonight instead of next week.

Monster Bru SS/stone brute lvl 50
Carman thugs/dark mm lvl 50
Got a couple of reasons for not doing it on test.
- Quite a few of those turning up are new to PvP or inexperienced, especially in arena terms.
- Many of those probably don't have test set up
I'm sure some of the more experienced players will turn up on Wednesday as well and once I've got a few sessions out of the way, I will be joining the test sessions. For now, I think a couple of very basic warm ups are needed before we even understand and appreciate what we should be trying to get out of test!
That said, I will copy my main PvE toon over to test and respec him for PvP so I can at least have a little try out.

Thats a great idea Zak i was just thinking the same. Come join on Wed Nights from 8.30. We play heros at the moment but from tonight im gonna take my brute instead theres lots of fun to be had..
Just remember you learn more from losing than you do winning. A great exemple of this how Well AoW has come along. They didnt used to be a threat in PvP but kow they have proved them selfs to be one of the best teams on union. Gratz Guys
They learnt from being destroyed alot. But came back and know have good builds and teams.
Read this thread for more info on the PvP fun.
PS its on tonight if your about meet in Port Oaks Arena fellow Villains
Well you've seen my stalker out and about mixing it about with the big boys. One issue of balance I feel might arise is when fighting with heros you are not allowed to join there team. Thus you are abit limited in knowing where all your team are and how they are doing. For my stalker it has been able to get away with this but for others it may prove difficult. I give you a quick example - say our team comprises of a empath defender, brute, stalker, controller and blaster. The empath can react quite easily to the blaster taking damage as can see his health and also location on map. The brute taking damage would be alot harder as you dont get to see there health bar or location. Thus teamwork and synergy is alot harder to do. Not sure whether that means it would be better to fight with your own kind or not. I suppose isnt a real option yet unless a number of villains make the jump to test server (although I do feel its possible as there is abit of interest out there).
Heros
Max Powerz: Lv 50 Tanker
Villains
Max Khaos: Lv 50
Overlord of E.V.I.L.
My Brute - http://maxy-khaos.mybrute.com/
LF SG! Arc ID# 193083
We could do villains one team heros another.
Given a bit of notice, I can bring out my Brute or my MM - but both really need to be 50, and be respecced before they'll be any use in arena PvP. If you just need numbers though, I can provide them.

I'll come down to the tuesday night sessions and see if it's my kind of thing. I am nowhere near experienced enough for the wednesday sessions, plus I am busy tonight anyways :P
I think this is a good idea tho. Count me in with my Energy/Kin!
The timing is a bit rubbish, i have to get off at 7. My lv40 MM has poison so its pretty good at de-buffing, and im very experienced with PvP so i can help out if you need. All i need is some other time if possible.
OK, first one of these is tomorrow.
I'm hoping we get a good turnout and these can carry on as a weekly event, with a view to joining in the Test server nights once we have a bit more experience
If I can get around, I'll try and bring Wynter in, she's my main for CoV, so getting *some* ability at PvP would be helpful... obviously depends on work commitments though.
What time tonight Kin? I need to practice as Doctor Dust...
Well, I'll be heading over around 19.00.
Will make sure to be there with .Kosmos
OK, first night out of the way.
Numbers were down a bit due to a certain patch on Test but it was a good session for those of us who were there.
Had a particularly good 2 on 2 with Doctor Dust, Beta Module and Kosmos.
hope to see more people there next week as we certainly learnt a few things and had a few good questions raised.
Yup, disappointing upcome, but that was one hell of a fight. Great fun, altho the learning part wasn't really fulfilled. More people join next week! :P

Aye I hope we can develop villain strategies next week... but I think I'll allow WBG to fight instead
of Dust - Doctor Dust

lol, don't know why. DD was a real pain in there and in a bigger team situation, could cause real problems
I'll be there with Captain Cognitive next week hopefully.
Are we on for tonight?
Kosmos is ready
OK, just wrapped up for the night and I have to say... it was bloody good fun!
Had a very good turnout with a peak of 20 people at one point and had some very good battles.
A couple of the 'experimental' ones involved scrappers V brutes. Most of us had our money on the brutes but the stalkers won.
Corruptors V Brutes was very even. The corruptors were debuffing and hitting but couldn't seem to call up the damage needed to finish the job and the brutes were killing the Corruptors when they got close. Finished up all even on that one.
Stand out powers were hurricane and fear for me as they had me disabled for a lot of it and in the smaller maps, hurricane was very uber.
Main concern on the villain side was really a lack of heals. Even with thermals, we just cannot heal efficiently enough compared to empaths and the other heals need enemies so weren't particularly effective.
We had a few heroes turn up and the mixed teams actually proved very interesting.
The 12 man battle at the end with 3 teams of 4 was also a bit manic as it decided to put us on the smallest map available
Hope to see you all there again next week.
Actually, the corruptor vs brute battle ended 3 - 2 in favour of the corrs. So it was a victory for us Kin :P
I agree that the lack of heals make things hard. Buffing might help, but really, at some point a player is damaged and needs healing. Without a /thermal this can't be done properly.
As I said during the training, it makes it very important to have 1 person who targets enemies, and that the entire team listens to him carefully. It's hard to do the targetting properly however, IMO, especially if your one of the squishier chars. Ideally, you'd have a stalker at the stealth cap roaming through the battle doing the targetting.
fear/hurricane user reporting:P
Matches where great indeed..villains and heroes where combining their AT's which made a nice change in the battles
Small map was a bit chaotic indeed..but loadsa fun..
Think kinslayer said enough...big thnx to him for organizing this all...hope to see a lot of people turn up the next time we hold one...good goin
Mini Icy
A couple of us have been discussing the lack of real PvP teamwork and understanding of min/max principles on CoV.
As a result, we're going to get a few people together on a regular Tuesday night basis to try different things out.
The format is simple enough, turn up at the Port Oakes arena anytime from 19.00 onwards. The first few sessions will involve a bit of testing so we'll be forming different teams form the various members who are there to test out different combinations. Simple things like a debuff pentad team against a buff pentad team. A damage heavy team against a defence heavy team, a balanced team against a min/max team etc.
We'll be concentrating on things like keeping the stalker buffed for one fight to keeping the brute buffed for the next and so on. These won't be real competitive matches but more an experimental workshop for the first few weeks.
Once each session is over, everyone taking part is encouraged to post here with what they think worked or didn't work.
Once they've been running a few weeks, we should then have a feel for the best builds to complement each other and can start getting a little bit more competitive and start pushing each other with specific team make ups.
Hope to see you all there.
