Hi all,
I got the game in Jan, have been playing on and off for a bit all PvE.
I strayed into a PvP area whilst teamed up with a brute, I was playing a dom - we kicked [censored] as a duo.
It Kinda fired up my blood for a little pvp action - so what I'm asking is
a) - what server do you guys recommend for PvP?
and
b) what AT would you recommend as a good one for a newbie at PvP?
cheers y'all

A) Union
B) have a go at them all then make your mind up. if you wanna 1v1 alot make a scrapper, blaster or roller. If you team make any. Real PvP starts at 50 so get lvling

a) Defiant

b) Any. Just get into a team, and any build can do well in PvP.

For PvP - Union, I think is the better choice.

It may depend on the question... Do you want hard-core pwnz j00 PvP or friendly fun PvP. Honestly I wouldn't know what goes on over in defiant PvP, so I won't comment on them, but PvP on Union is usually fun.

If you're just looking for active PvP, then just pick the server that you know more people on, or whichever you like the name of the best. In my case it was disliking the name Defiant, which is why I'm on Union. But that's all really, I'm sure both servers are very similar.

As for an AT and build. It's interesting that your sig only lists villains. Can we assume that you only own CoV then? I haven't played a villain high enough to get into PvP, but it looks like most of the hard core ones will level Stalkers, for maximum one-shot or killstealability. But I definitely agree with that other guy who said build doesnt matter, just get into a team and you'll be fine. Or something like that.

Shrug.

A) union

b) you should make a scrapper that's by far the easiest as a beginner. Try something like Spines/regen Broadsword/regen.

Maybe I should have stated that I only own a copy of City of Villains (oops)

Well,

PvP wise, Coh really seems to be where it's at. on the CoV side, I don't really think either server has done much to distinguish themselves.

That said, I'm in the process of trying to change that so you may want to take a look at my thread HERE

If you fancy joining us, send me a tell on @Kinslayer (BTW, we do seem to have openings for stone brutes if that influences your AT choice at all!)

Stalker is the way to go for the zones, they're really suited for pvp. Try something like energy melee or spines for primary with either sr or ninjitsu.

Well, things can be weird in PvP from what I've seen...

My first foray was during the special event in Siren's and as a villain I was trapped when the "heroes" camped the hospital - which has since caused a map correction

I went back in last night, and discovered that for some unknown reason I was the highest bounty target! I let people know I was just there searching for the history plaque, and didn't get hunted down like a dog - which was nice!

I did get ambushed by an ice troller, but he just immobilised me (and pets) so I popped a break free and targetted him - he had a couple of seconds to regret attacking before succumbing to the combined fire of my ninjas...

I did eventually find the plaque, and I left the zone. My point is that although most of the players there are there for PvP brawling, they are sporting enough to leave you alone if you let them know that's not your thing, and don't suddenly start ambushing people

So thanks to all those heroes on Siren's last night for not making my search hell

I may even try some PvP with my dominator in a few more levels...

I was too busy chasing someone with a big mouth instead

Brutes are fun, but suffer from needing a large group to go against and needing to get into melee.
Corruptors, like Blasters, really need to keep back and finish off.
Dominators are great in a team.
Stalkers are bloody nuisances, and thus fun to play.
Masterminds are very good, but work so much better in a team.

In a normal team, Masterminds should 'worry' the squishies constantly, Stalkers sneaking in to finish them. Dominators should be on Crowd Control, Brutes 'travelling' into the thick and Corruptors AOE'ing the lot of them.

Always be on the watch for sneaky git moves though, like Confusing Pets, TK'ing into Enemies, TP'ing into Drones and other such 'unfair' moves.

Is there such things as unfair moves in PvP?
As long as its not exploiting a bug or such surely its should be no holds barred?

Well ... I don't know about you, but my Dominator will stop considering the rampant use of Break Frees, Emerges and Escapes in PvP as "sneaky git moves" as soon as they come up with some new Inspiration which will provide 100% defence against Tankers, Scrappers and Blasters.
