Taunt enhances in your attacks?

I've decided to dabble my tastes into the dark worlds of Tankery, which I have NO knowledge about. In the end I decided to roll a inv/ss.

Now i've noticed you can slot your attacks with Taunt Enhances, is this worth doing?

Sorry for the newbie question.

Only if you have the spare slots. Well, actually, if you're making a more team-oriented character, you can always sacrifice damage enhancements for taunt enhancements, but that will hurt your soloing ability.

Personally I'd rather slot a Taunt in your aura(Invicibility, lvl 18)instead than attacks, I'm not sure if the more damage the foes take increases the taunt duration but I'm sure that if the foes takes more damage he'll plant faster, hence less needs to Taunt
For anything you need just send a tell and we'll discuss of your doubt about the build as I've got the same tank

As Jiazoy says, not worth slotting at all. If you do have an aura of some sort, then a taunt or two in there is definitely worth it but there is also debate on whether slotting taunts in 'taunt' itself is worth the slots.

The way taunt enhances work is that they don't allow you to taunt more targets or even get the taunt itself to aggro an enemy more efeectively, all they do is increase the length of time a taunt lasts.

So, if you have a 3 recharge reduction taunt and the same in hasten, it's very rare an individual taunt will wear off before you can re-taunt anyway. The same is true of any aura. As the aura's hit very quickly, there is absolutely no need to put taunt duration in as the in built 'punchvoke' will not have worn off before the next cycle of the aura hits.

I think i've put one taunt in Blazing Aura and Taunt just to be safe, mainly because BA can miss now and then, but other than that, there are much better ways to spend slots and the benefit of slotting taunts will really be hardly noticeable.

As a Inv/SS tanker, it might be worth putting taunt enhances in one of your attacks if you don't solo and can take the aggro. This is only because you get your taunt aura late at 18. However I never have

Remember that Taunt duration scales drastically as the level difference between you and the foes increase and their ranking goes up, so IMO the taunt aura is well worth a Taunt to make sure that even that +2 AV sticks with you.

Yep, I 3-slotted Chilling Embrace (EndRed before Stamina) and will change one of those to a Taunt (Maybe even add a second) later in the game.

On Gen 2 I have a taunt slotted in Bash (my fastest recharging attack) and also in whirling mace (which I also have a few recharges in). I generally use whirling mace and invincibility's aura to keep the close guys on me and I use taunt to keep the ranged guys interested. If someone starts beating up on a squishy and taunt isn't recharged I hit them with Bash to get their attention. Granted it probably doesn't add much to the length of the "taunt" but every little bit extra can help at times.

With my old Inv/Nerg tank I found that a slotted taunt in my PAoE Whirling hands was mighty usefull at the start of fights. Instead of maiing the foes come to you with taunt, I just rushed up and whamo instant taunt. Though I can't see how sloging single foe attacks can be usefull.

In my case I only have the default slot in Bash so putting a taunt in there is no great loss or cost to my attack chain

The taunt in your aura lasts say just under 2 seconds, but anyway 1 taunt duration in your aura should tick the taunt to 2 seconds which is about the duration of time the aura sends a pulse out so it covers nice. If your hitting something in melee range and you have a taunt aura you dont need a taunt as your aura does the taunting anyway and guantlet becomes a nothing thing. So taunt in melee attacks is a bit of a why bother thing.

Because I didn't factor in any room for taunt durations in my aura when I did my last respec

as i saw was said its more the question of how much of a teamplayer you are. the more you team the more tanunt effect you need.. but keep in mind that taunt enhances only effect for how long the enemies are taunting not the amount of them or anything of that kind.
it does in a way make them more effective against +lvl foes since the higher the foe the shorter the taunt..

Ahh, fond memories of attempting to tank lvl 54 Rikti on the third respec on a 5 man team composed of me, 3 blasters and a defender... ever since then I've erred on the side of over-slotting taunts in Taunt and in my attacks.
