Creating a new SG, But need numbers...and thoughts

Sounds good, other than the russian thing are you thinking of any other restrictions/guidelines?
It'd be difficult to protray. Traditionally, Communist characters in comics have been the villains, so you've got that hurdle to overcome. Communism is seen in most forms of fiction as going hand in hand with dictatorships, so the SG will have that stigma to contend with.
Original, yes. Difficult? Very.
Choosing to avoid the political side of things is a very wise move. Also something to watch for is heroes who may have fought in the Cold War.
I'd say play up culture, play down politics. More Mother Russia, less Party. Place of music, of art, of architecture. A proud people who hail from a country that is somewhat inhospitable in several parts. Although I'd say you could key into the sense of decayed empire a bit. Ignoring communism and such, Russia was once a great world power, now it's a country in debt and trying to grope its way forward.
Just thematic ideas.

That means one of two things:
1. You keep secret files on everyone and so are able to stopany crime before it takes place (unlikely, you don't have the staff).
2. You're enormously ineffective and probably corrupt.
Neither of thses options sounds good.

When you have an idea like this in your head its hard to let go and often a shame if you do. Posting this and asking for tips/advice looks like it may well of been a very smart idea and will save you headace in the long run. I hope you (with help from everybody else) get this down to something that works well and is enjoyable. I don't think i could play a red anything except maybe an imp or faye. so i wont be asking to join but did want to post to say GOOD LUCK! Hope it works 
This sounds like an interesting idea - I would certainly be interested in making a character for this if you get it up and running.
I must warn though that I am a not an experienced RP'er, so I may have a steep learning curve ahead!
Just one question for clarity. It has been indicated that the politics part will be toned down a bit, but I just want to be sure that it would not be a problem compared to your basic idea to create a character who was perhaps a bit disgruntled or desillusioned (spelling?) with the old regime - perhaps having even been "forced" into doing some "heroic" acts against the character's own beliefs.
Would something along those lines be okay?
Hmm. I'm reading this and nobody's mentioned "The Red Star" yet.
Methinx should be poked if you want to see how to portay Russian Heroes in a good light.

I do like the idea of focusing more on Russian and Eastern European culture, and if there is anything slightly to do with politics I'll make sure it stays away from the Stalinist era and the whole 'we will bury you thing'.
For most part, Politics would be either a theme and image or something for the older heroes to remember back on.
And yes, Heroes who hated the system can join. It would be very interesting to see what a Polish Super Hero from that period would think.
There are bound to be some Cold Warriors clashes, but meh..., most Cold Warriors are codgers anyway and would just sulk now.

To be honest, an SG like this could be perfect for you, then. Part of the trouble of RP is working out how your character should think and act. This SG helps by fixing some of that (or at least providing some framework for building it). You need to know less about 'roleplaying' and more about 'the Soviet Union'. (And that's half the secret of roleplaying, just getting on with acting like you're an alien princess instead of worrying about roleplay technique.)

I'm not much of a good guy managing a Super Group, maybe some of us can form a Soviet and run the group instead.
Though it won't be Military much, I'll be using Red Army ranks. The group will accept the workers, farmers and others too.

Besides, you said you wanted to avoid politics. You don't get much more political than a national anthem!

It can be shortened, and the anthem is pretty much obsolete.
When naming the SG, I'd try and steer away from as many stereotypes as you can. Just because they're the most obvious choices. So no, "Former Republic Of..." or "Red..." type names.
Of course, it's up to you -- but I'd try and make it as original as possible .
It's pretty hard though. Anyone got any other suggestions?
I was considering MIR at one point, since a MIR means community.
I would seriously consider getting in touch with the US servers' CCCP and asking if they'd feel bad about CCCP expanding over to the EU servers as well. (In effect, asking if they'd allow us to use the name here as well.)
I think that building up an estabilished brand is better than having scattered groups across servers that try to do the same thing but have no unity.
That's just my two cents though.

I'm thinking of creating a RP Super Group for former Heroes of the USSR, but I am not certain if there are much RPers out there who are interested in playing such characters.
I mean, this could be a window of oppotunity for some RPer who's always wanted to RP the bitter former KGB Agent or a Veteran Red Army soldier from the Civil War. We won't mess with the game CANON too.
It won't be a group fixed on Politics because that can cause griefing or conflict. I simply want to get some old comrades together with RC and fight crime Eastern European style!
It's certainly an original idea.
I just need some opinions...
