Sorry about no spaces - I'm sure you got it though.

Ok, what was the most annoying time for you as a tank?

Ever had the feeling of kicking someone after they spam "Tank!!" a gazillion times?

Type about them here!

EDIT: When I said career I meant tanking career.

Sorry, just though I'd add this in.

Whoever spams "Tank!!" I call a TankerSpanker

Never seen that.

I've never seen/heard that either.

What it is suppose to mean? Is it an order ( as in Please start tanking ), an observation ( I see a tank ) or a cry for help ( This big thing is attacking me, please taunt it ) ?

I generally tank from beginning of the mission to the end so I don't usually need reminding Having said that though, your post is setting off vague reminders in my head of having someone telling me to go tank at some point in my career (if I recall correctly the person in question was face-planting a little too regularly and was blaming me for it).

I'm not sure I've heard cries of 'Tank!', but I understand the sentiment. Many times have I been patiently waiting for the tanker to staring tanking - to absorb the majority of the aggro so the team could unleash their firepower in relative safety - only for the tanker to hang back and wait....and wait.....and wait....

Yet, in the majority of times, I've waited also. I think thats the pain of some tankers, not sure when to take the initiative and just tank mobs. Check the team is ready and go. If your toon is an aggro magnet without a tanker (decent tanker I should add) then you're stuck waiting on the tanker.

I must add that with my spines/da, I can take out relativley large spawns and with eclispe on the ws, even bigger spawns - but with a decent tanker, its so much easier - a pity sometimes you have to wait on them to get into action.

Alternatively, there's the tanker who rushes past a spawn on the way to another, aggroing both in the process and only maintaining the aggro of one of them While the tanker is peacefully taunting his nice grouped spawn, the rest of the team are fighting for their lives with the other....

Tank!

With a decent tanker and decent shields, you usually have the luxury of being able to turn and view the health and situation of your team mates and then aggroing the mobs it appears they can't handle whilst keeping an eye on the aggro limit.

When I play as tanker, I probably look at my teammate's health bars almost as much as when I play my defender - If their health is dropping, I think; What can I do about it? ..... then do it

Never known that before but I have felt like saying for all the reasons space dog has mentioned, you wait and wait and you begin to wonder who the tanker is waiting for, or with tanks i have teamed with as a non tank peoples healthbars are up and down like a yo yo but they have their one "omg threat!" white conned minion to deal with.

Being acused of being a bad tank by the team scrapper when Dreck launched his AOE blast and the blasters, who where standing next to him, got killed. Needless to say whether or not I aggroed him an AOE would get everyone in range, thats what an AOE attack does. I'm not saying anything against the blasters, but they should really have stayed at range. Too much is blamed on the tanks at times. Some people have to realise that if they die, sometimes it may just be their fault *tsk*

If you stay back at enough range and keep dreck fully taunted he shouldnt (or should i say may not) aoe (no one else must taunt or gauntlet in his aoe range in anyway to be sure). With a dark defender i may choose to be upclose. Possibly i get your point. Some people may know little about tankers and have seen one tanker go about something one way in the past and get away with it (possibly due to the type of people in the team last time) and think that way is the only way and the whole outcome was down to the tanker when in fact its not. Then seeing you do things your way which maybe different and not get away with it makes you bad. The whole team play their part in success and failure however partial. I don't like it though when you have your mind set on doing things one way and other people make you have to do it another way or with all the safe positions you offer people they have to take the unsafest as is the case with these blasters but you maynt have time to type to advise in the middle of it all "dreck is at 20% hp left pls stay back!".

Oddly I've had the opposite on my PB when in Dwarf form.

"Stop tanking so we can pull!"

"Dwarfy SMASH!! Dwarfy CRUSH!!! Dwarfy STOMP!!!! Sorry, did you say something?"

I felt like shouting it out yesterday but after checking the build I was glad I didn't. The guy was 39 with no aura (mudpots) or taunt (and didn't have rooted either).

Got too used to blasting before starting a tank, when I needed to be coaxed into taking alpha, holding the aggro and then keeping said aggro. And not running. Took a while, but I never got spammed or tells to that effect.

Good practise for scrapping though; actively encouraging you to try and get yourself killed? Cool.

I've heard "taunt!!!" once... from a guy that was in my group for about 2 hours, and kept praising (before) how good I was at tanking and holding aggro, etc.

When I answered him I haven't picked taunt nor do I plan to, he started to say I was a waste of a tank, complaining and moaning until I left the group.

This sort of people... It's the kind of guy that makes me glad I haven't picked Taunt. I know I could do a better job with it, (although, in the situation he complained about, I was already at the aggro cap and couldn't do much more - it's funny how people believe Taunt is everything there is to tanking, yet they don't even know about the 17-limit, or that it taunts only 5 bad guys at once) but so far it looks too much like a "save the idiot" power to me. Not to mention it's not fun, and I don't want to drop any cool-looking power for it.

Was in a group yesterday.
Sure enough the tank had taunt... and used it.
But he also had Unyielding, Temp invulnerability and Invincibility.. which he DIDNT use. He waited till the Blaster (me or any of the defenders) pulled rather than charge and take the alpha..

He'd rather take on lone lieutenants and minions than the bosses, when he didnt "steal" my glowies (it was my mission.. but i didnt make a issue of it.. if i really need influence ive got plenty of it on my 50..)

In the end.. he was a scranker with taunt..

at the end of the day.. i would have been better of with another scrapper..

My gripe's the other way round... especially teamed with the infamous 'blankers' out there. My tank (still) has a key bound with the group yell "Herding... keep back til I yell 'ready'" I still occasionally use this (got an inv build tanker, so anything that does lethal/smashing damage, I can still herd up a pretty big group without taking TOO much damage). However, when I yell my bind, I ALWAYS find some IDIOT blaster deciding to follow me. So rather than anyone shout anything at the tank, it's the tank (me) shouting to the group to keep back. And then the blaster inevitably launches his AoE attack, instantly grabbing all the agro from me... and then dies.. and then blames me!

So I rarely have anything yelled at me... unless it's from said 'blanker' who decides to run away from the rest of the crowd, attack his own group of baddies then yells "TANK - HELP!" and we're 400 yards away from him!!
