Invulnerability

My main is a lvl 37 spine/invul scrapper and he kicks his share of evil [censored] but lately i'm getting alot of in-game comments from people about the /invul choice. Why? Why do most scrappers choose /regen as secondary and whats wrong, or seems to be wrong, with /invul? I like it very much. I have some end. problems occasionally but thats it.
I'm looking forward to some replies

I get the same comments with my Kat/Inv, most people seem to favor regen, but I find inv more challenging then my lvl 8 regen that got deleted some weeks ago..

Regen these days gets the nod a lot of the time for the reason you describe. With ED, QR is now astonishingly useful, and regen's had its end-use cut to one toggle and a bunch of clicks. That, and Inv's vulnerability to psi, combine to make regen a still-potent combination. I see SR making a comeback when defence scaling slides in, and DA is a little easier these days with the end reduction, so the playing field's a lot more even than it used to be. I have a Dm/Inv though, and endurance is a major stumbling block.

Really thugh, I don't play an Inv scrapper much because my main's an inv tank, and that's quite enough for me. YMMV

Basically, it can be boiled down to:
<ul type="square">[*]No extra end recovery unless you get it in your primary (I think Dark does, or am I smoking something wacky?) [*]Vulnerability to Psi damage means a lot more work in the late game, where everyone and his dog whacks you with it. [*]End Hog. 3 toggles, 3 passives (one of which you are forced to take) and Dull Pain. Don't even get me started on tough hide. Only redeeming feature is that the Oh [censored] power is much much better than Moment of Glory in most situations, oh and Invincibility is kinda neat.[*]End Draining Bad guys are your other foe (so Carnie Ring Mistresses will give you a real bad day) Admittedly, all sets suffer from this, but it feels worse on inv, because you don't have the extra benefit of QR. Oddly, best powerset for those is SR, because if you don't get hit, you don't get sapped.

Enjoy your invulnerability. I know I do But know when to run screaming like a girl [/list]

Agreed. However, if only it were only psi damage...

I am currently playing a MA/Invuln 'supergirl' scrapper and so far it has been a lot of fun. Over the last week or so I have done the Library of Souls arc against the Circle of Thorns, going up against groups of mobs consisting of one or two fire thorn casters, a behometh master and a few spectral demons. With a nasty stream of non-stop fire and energy damage hitting me I do not feel very invulnerable.

Apart from the endurance issues the inability to get much resistance to elements and energy is a serious matter.

As far as I've come in the game (lvl 41) with my Inv srapper I've only met with 2 types of enemies that feels harder then the other. Acc debuffers and end drainers. My primary (katana) along with hasten means that I can take down a large group fast, and if they go down fast the res I have as invul protects me no matter what. So my problem is prolonged battles, acc debuffs (nerva spectral daemons) and end drainers (sappers, defeated carnies) are a pain. Heard much talk about "knifes of artemis" and when I fight them I don't find it very hard, the caltrops are a pain, but they go down without making much damage.

The protection Unyielding provides against holds and such is really good too and with defense changes I guess Invincible will get even better in melee.

I've always reasoned like this: If the game gets easy, what's the point of playing it?

Once you go inv, you never go back..

Oh, and unstoppable with a good timer is sweeeeet..

Dark Melee does have Dark Consumption, the PBAoE endurance replenisher (and damage dealer) .

I personally dont like the feel of invul for a scrapper. But they're just a valid a choice as any other secondry (yeah, am SR, would say that, but have a level 35 regen too, dont like that much)

Regen is a popular choice for the no downtime, but each secondry has its own good points.

"Well, they found my diary today.
They were appropriately appalled
at the discovery of the eight victims
They're now putting it all together.
Women wrapped in silk
with one leg missing
Eight legs, one body, silk,
spider, brilliant!"

I chose regen on my katana scrapper for a few reasons.

1) I already had an invul tank, and I wanted to try something different. Being a newbie, the other scrapper secondaries seemed pretty daunting, and none really attracted me, whereas regen seemed to be something a know-nothing like me could get a handle on, and I liked the concept.
2) I was utterly sick and tired of my other alts running out of end all the time - regen was the only thing that seemed to offer me an excellent opportunity to avoid all that nonsense - and it does! (on reflection this was probably the single biggest factor in selling me on regen)
3) I solo a lot, and regens fast healing and self healing options seemed very attractive to me in terms of greater self-sufficiency. I'm sure it's a failing on my part, but I'm afraid defence/resistance just doesn't float my boat at all - I like more obvious/transparent stuff. I'm pretty simple like that.
4) Being realistic and honest, I'm nothing special as a player, and probably never will be. Plus I'm lazy. Intentionally adding unnescessary 'challenge' is not for me - I find things quite hard enough as they are thank you. So many people I spoke to rated regen very highly as a scrapper secondary, and a good choice for an inexperienced player, that it seemed almost rude not to go that route. I'm very glad indeed that I did.

Thanks for the replies peeps! Good to know i'm not the last of the mohicans on this one.
I only started this game a couple of months ago and my invul scrapper is my first char. I really liked the sound of invul (you gotta agree on that ) but the end. does suck. The -acc is a pain in the [censored] to but hey, i just realized its just a game and i can still do major damage when the [censored] hits the fan! Thanks for the replies and see you around!

If you're struggling with accuracy, stick a ToHitBuff or two into Invincibility.

Well, the buff you get at the moment is about 1-2%, so I'd say it's not really worth it.
