The problems with PvP
[ QUOTE ]
2 blasters run up to a stone-brute in granite.
2 stalkers run up to a stone-tank in granite.
Who dies first, Jack?

Shall we do numbers (kinda)? I'll write the long answer first. Skip to the bottom line if you can't be bothered to read all about numbers and tactics.
We'll assume that this is in Warburg, and that both of the stalkers have taken their "Elude" type toggles with 3 slots for defence in each. A */SR stalker (don't know the numbers for the others) with the AoE defence toggle running AND elude comes out with around 105% defence to AoEs. If both stalkers click these, mudpots has a 5% chance to hit them which really isn't very much. AS'ing through Mudpots is not hard at all. However, Granite armour does dramatically lower the stalkers damage to around 21.3% of what it is originally. Tanks have obscenely high HP anyway, and if he's clicked Earth's Embrance he's got 80% higher on top. Factoring this in, I'd say that the tank would very slowly squish the stalkers, assuming that the stalkers don't run away after they see the pathetic amount of damage their AS has done.
Now we'll look at the blasters. Assuming they're going to stick mostly to range and kiting by jumping over the mudpots (as I'd expect any good PvP blaster to do), mudpots isn't really a factor like with the stalkers. Due to the obscene resistence (though not as high as the tanks) provided by granite, the blasters overall DPS will be lowered but will still be higher than the stalkers (as stalker damage sucks when not hidden, imo). Since Granite slows movement a whole lot, and assuming that the blasters keep moving like I said earlier, I'd expect the brute to have a lot of trouble landing a hit on either of the blasters.
The short answer is this: The brute dies first.
Oh snap. Let's not forget 30% of Blaster damage cannot be resisted.

Change the Blasters to Scrappers then...

No resistance works against critical hits. AS is a critical hit.. 100% damage from stalkers cant be resisted.
Xanthus; where did you get that value from?

I think Assasin Strike doesn't quite count as a crit...
Edit - Just checked a combat log from my stalker and it does say it's a Crit, so I assume the damage doesn't infact get resisted, not sure I agree with that.
I was under the wrong impression since I've been one shotted on my scrapper in Bloody Bay/Sirens (Lack of Tough, and at the time Dull Pain) but never in Warburg (Where I have Tough)

Hero builder; Says that granite on tanks gives 78.7% resistance to everything but psi with 3 resistance SOs (+3) in it.
Uhm... I don't know 'bout those crits in PvP, but im 100% sure that in PvE AS get's resisted by some of the mobs: CoT ghosts, Freakshow Tanks, Cray Tanks... the like.

I don't know about AS, but I know for a fact that the critical part of a scrappers attack cannot be resisted, I almost killed Silence when we were testing stuff out in the arena

The foes you have meantioned all have a high amount of HP. They dont resist it, they have more HP....

I'll be sure to note the ammount of damage I do against them, and other enemies then. I'm quite sure they DO resist it.
EDIT: OK, tested it against those Council Hoverbots and normal Council Soldiers (both were +1 lvl). Here are the effects:
Sting of the Wasp on soldier: around 77 dmg
Sting of the Wasp on Hoverbot: around 38 dmg
AS on soldier: 386 (the crit part only)
AS on Hoverbot: 199
I think it's clear, that they DO resist damage. I'd be suprised if it was different in PvP.

Well thats resistance to everything except, res debuffs, slows, critical hits, blasters inherant -30% res in PvP, Scourge (not sure about this one thou), -regen, accuracy debuffs and probably some more things too.
Resistance means damage kind and the critical hits from stalkers and scrappers are best described as untyped damage (Hamidon damage).

I've tested it, and here are the results.
I was attacking Council Soldiers and Hoverbots, both +1 lvl.
Sting of the Wasp on soldier: 77 dmg
Sting of the Wasp on Hoverbot: 38 dmg
AS on soldier: 386 dmg
AS on Hoverbot: 199 dmg
So I think it's clear, that in PvE crits ARE resisted. I'd be suprised if it was different in PvP.

Wrong. Combat log reports it to be specific type. In my case, lethal. In the case of an EN/* stalker, energy.
Ah sorry wasnt thinking straight. Its different in PvP. If you look at scrappers powers, you will see that critical hits cant be resisted in PvP. This of cause doesnt apply to PvE since its a special rule for the AT. Same as blasters not having an inbuild -30% resistance in PvE.
A Paragon Defender
Hmm... perhaps in that case, that damage SHOULD be resisted? Along with scrapper damage and blasters' -resist that is.
Yeah, it's typed, just not resisted in PvP. It is resisted in PvE though.

I said that there's no point slotting for Disorient, because the ammount of time they're disoriented for doesn't matter.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, if a stalker's out of luck and his mez protection runs out and the disorient's still there, he'll find himself rather suprised.
Than again, at this point he could be far, far away, on the top of some tall building, and all he'd have to do is wait for the disorient to go away.
