Again with the Stalkers in PvP
[ QUOTE ]
Something i've noticed that some people seem to ignore is that while complaining that they shouldn't have to respec to play PvP and shouldn't have to select certain powers to defeat stalkers that the very same stalkers that they find so difficult have done exactly that. They have respecced for PvP and they have chosen specific powers to enable them to PvP.
An example - "Why should i have to choose tactics for PvP when it isn't all that useful in PvE?" some may ask. The answer is ... because Stalkers have chosen Stealth specifically for PvP when it is all but useless for them in PvE.
[/ QUOTE ]
True as pancakes. They have taken a pool that is of little to no value for them in PVE. I consider it only just that to fight them effectively the others should be expected the same. Not that I even consider tactics necessary to fight stalkers.
[ QUOTE ]
To be honest I agree - stalkers are overpowered ; so are controllers, SR Scrappers and people who fly in pvp zones, stopping my tank or brute from killing them
Having teamed with stalkers a lot in PvE they are truly squishy - they have to be good at something
[/ QUOTE ]
SR Scrappers overpowered- really! thats the first time I've heard that.
[ QUOTE ]
Another thing that proves Stalkers are overpowered in PvP, is that there are so dang many of them.
[/ QUOTE ]
This means absolutely nothing. Its the same as the fire tank scenario all over again. Fire tanks were particularly good at one aspect of the game... power leveling, so everyone made one. People complained. They got nerfed. Stalkers are particularly good at one aspect of the game... PvP, so everyone made one. People are complaining. No doubt we'll get nerfed too.
Lol DM/SR are hard. I fought Dotted Skin while playing my DM/DA Brute, and could i hit him? Not a chance 3 ToHit Debuffs in Touch of Fear combined with the fact he is SR and hard to hit anyway left me punching thin air while he hammered me
Ahh I see, that sounds like a good PvP build to me.
However I think not being able to hit was more to do with stacked DM debuffs (-ACC) than the defense of SR which only musters a def buff of around 30% fully slotted (without Elude).
Yeah probably, my point really was that SR are a good set for PvP especially when combined with DM. At the moment i'm lvl'ing a spines/inv Scrapper for PvP simply because they are 2 sets i've never played passed lvl 10, but my fights with Dotted are making me consider DM/SR just to be a pain in the butt to other PvP'ers
Well well, looky here, someone else had to go and make another WHOLE thread about Stalkers, AGAIN!
For the love of kittens, would you people stop!
If you think Stalkers are overpowered?!?!
ALL other AT's are overpowered
ALL AT's SHOULD BE NERFED XCEPT FOR DEFENDERS, THEIR DAMAGE SHOULD BE INCREASED
as for the starting poster.
You just wanted your own thread didn't you?
And let me tell you the same thing a heck of a lot of other pple are going to tell you too.
The only thing a Stalker has going for him IS AS.
They can't DO ANYTHING ELSE!
If you ask me their UNDERPOWERED
(and please note that I don't play a stalker, try'd one in Beta for a few lvl's, but the hit and run didn't work out well for me. Can you say "Squishy goes SPLAT?")
If you want to Nerf something, nerf Controllers, MAN their holds last forever, my poor dominators holds didn't last for jack! (luckily Jack wasn't around to pummel me while I was incased in ice)
Stalker Stalker Stalker, blah!
Piffle Puffs, Bah humbug and all those other cute things!
I say: NERF everyone except defenders, make defenders UBER!!!!
And mr. I used Stealth and got right up to him, hit buildup and whatever else it is you squishy flying menaces do and woulda have ONE SHOTTED HIM had I not missed..... don't you think YOU should get nerfed too?
(Yes I do realise this post reads very aggressively, but it's not written agressively.... ok so maybe it is a little bit....)
O & btw, since this discussion is going on in another thread, can this one be locked, or all this be moved into the other one?
I don't want to have to type NERF EVERYONE EXCEPT DEFENDERS, UBER THEM in both until someone actually listens to me?
This is probably one of the worst stalker complaints I've seen...
There were 4 of them for crying out loud! Of course you bloody died! You'd have died if there were 4 of any AT!

Well since every one else is posting about stalkers i mite as well do it to. my one and only experience against a stalker was during the pvp event there i was quite happily standing at a distance watching my fellow heroes pound on the villain base when bang i was face down in the sea was i angry dam right i was was i angry at the stalker nope (well maybe a little but only cause i got killed) what i was angry at was my own stupidity
1) i was standing in watter so should have spotted the ripples
2)I'm a warshade so could have been in dwarf forum or had orbiting death running or could have had my stealth power on which grants +perception
but i never did any of these things so i died, went to hosp then came back to the battle and all was happy again
so to my point if a stalker assassins you before you start shouting Nerf Nerf look at what you were doing when it happened your in a pvp zone so your effectively walking about with a target on your back
And as for using the stealth, build up, aim, snipe strategy to shoot some one in the back hows that any different than using hide, build up,AS

It's plenty different: the blaster doing that needs beating with a nerf bat far more and harder than stalkers do for this reason: to AS you a stalker has to stnd next to you. If you have + perception powers running you get a good chance to see him and whack him with something, or a team mate can put him down while he tries to get away. The blaster can snipe from outside perception range and already has a head start for his road-runner impression.
The original poster is either a fool or a troll. Kicking off on 4 stealthed defenders might be survivable (but odds are they will see you coming and debuff you so far down that you get planted anyway) but just about any other AT x 4 = suicide or in this case blundering into a trap.
Oh: if you recognise yourself as one of the 4 stalkers from the OP's whine, well played and tell your 3 mates.
I demand that every one only uses sprint to travel around the PvP zones they should have no toggels running and the only attack they are allowed to use on me is brawl every 20 secs. I feel that this will make things fiar for my controller in the pvp zone I might be able to kill some one with help then but dont expect it to be quick.

I want my own stalker thread too!
Heck I want my own personal stalker (as an Arch Nemesis) to follow me around wherever I go... Ok maybe not.

Moral of the story be carful what you wish for as you just might get it. (in the back from a stalker)

Yipeee I got quoted!
All jump for joy!
*takes out the nerf bat* now where's that blaster gone?
So, you'd like all AT's to be equal. That's a good idea, let's give Stalkers ranged attacks as well then.
Really badly thought out argument. You were overwhelmed.

That was kinda my point the stalkers tactics were no more lo down and dirty than the heroes and lets face it your a villain your supposed to be lo down and dirty

So if you hate stalkers that much make a ice/devices blaster. slot aim tactics and TD with 3 tohit buffs and you wont miss a thing.
Works for me anyway

I might try that now
Take that you nasty stalker!!

bit OTT if ask me just buy some IR goggels and you have two free power slots stick an acc in each attack that you can use in sirens and make bubblers cry like babys.

HEY! I'm a bubbler and I don't cry!..... well not often... *sniff*
I have a stalker, he's too little to pvp yet, so my opinion maybe isnt the most educated one.
Anywho, if stalkers are causing you problems and you have both games, the best thing you can do is make one and pvp for a little. Even if you only use your stalker for a while, maybe you will make enough mistakes against better players that you can learn from those mitakes to:
a. become a better stalker
b. replicate what got you killed as a stalker, and thus learn to deal with them more effectively.

When I first ventured into Sirens and was getting slaughtered by Stalkers, I though "this sucks" too. My solutions were twofold, I play my spines scrapper in Sirens almost exclusively now, seems to work well.
And I also made my own stalker! If you can't beat em, join em.

Umm. Maybe you dont have a leadership power pool, but there's a purple named stalker right behind ya. He's following you too.

When Stalkers have built their toon for PvP i find it completely unrealistic that people complain they are over powered considering that most of the ones complaining either do not have PvP builds or are unwilling to build their character in this way. Stalkers are a specialised Archetype and it is only common sense that you are going to have to come up with specialised ways to deal with them.
Before CoV came out people were shouting from the rooftops that they wanted more variety, more of a challenge. Yet when presented with what they crave they buckle under said challenge and then change their shouts to shouts of "Nerf them!" "They are over powered, i can't kill them!".
C'mon people what do you want? Make your minds up. Either you want challenge, you want to have to come up with good tactics to defeat things or you want a game where u bash each other mindlessly over and over till one of you drops!
Sometimes i think it simply comes down to people being too comfortable with fighting the mindless NPC baddies that dont think for themselves and dont take measures to counter the powers being thrown at them, and when presented with a challenge worthy of a 'hero' they become very unhero-like and start throwing the toys out of the pram!
