Union PvP
I've been in Siren's a few times when there was 15+ villains and only a few heroes. Then as the night went on the balance tipped and there was more heroes. It doesn't happen often though. Usually the Heroes out number the Villains.
The other thing that seems to happen is when the Villains run from battle, the Heroes follow and then hang around outside the Villain base, stopping the Villains from entering the main area. Unless they have Hide/Stealth etc...
I believe a large number of the Union Villains make visits to Bloody Bay for their PvP fun. When I took my main Hero into Bloody Bay to explore I couldn't turn one corner without bumping into a villain and getting into a quick scrap. Later on the team I was in was involved in over an hour long battle with another team of villains, one of which called out his SG which made for a memorable battle. (We won. ) I haven't been to Siren's Call yet, but I've noticed a few messages of "heading to bloody bay, anyone want to come with?" in the Villains broadcast chat.
Yeah thats part of the problem Im not a big fan of base camping and dont really like doing it with my Hero. But it dose anoy me when there are 6 heros out side the base calling you a coward when your solo because your using the base deffences to even things up a bit. That and heros always being in the water you can look all around Sirens Call and not find any one but go the water and sure as hell there all bobing away in it.
Seems to be mixed to me whether the Villians or Heroes are in force.
Yesterday in Sirens I saw 5 villians in the hotspot but no heroes.
Rock if you set a date and time I'll come along to join the fun.
I know there were all of half-a-dozen heroes and villains in Warburg last night. When I first arrived there were two, me and my partner. Not exactly busy.

I was in Siren's around 7'ish last night,
Was another villian and about 5 hero's.
I got splatted a lot, specially as soon as I started spamming the holds, it was great fun though and I kept going back for more, until they all left.
It was great fun though, even though there were so few online.
I want to be in a big battle tooo!
I did have fun sleep & holding a peacebringer and smacking the blaster out of the sky.
'course it never did take long for me to get splatted, but I had a fab time all the same!

I've cut down on base camping, I do the hotspots and attack villains who come nearby. I'm usually on a team of 8 and get told off for attacking lone villains. I'm pretty sure if the villain had a team, they would join in too lol.
Makes me laugh when Heroes make fun off Villains for being cowardly then go and play their Villian Alt. Or the other way around.
Im sure you will be pleased to know that Sirens call is getting pretty hot most of the time on defiant thanks to the regulars

Which night would be best for everyone if we are going to have a regular PvP night?
Will it be limited to one zone or alternate every week?
I'd be there if I knew there was alot of people on both sides.
i usually go to sirens late afternoon\dinner time (gmt) .
have seen it unbalanced both ways . sometimes theres 5\1 heros\vilain , sometimes the oposite .
its all up to the players . if you see a hero fighting a vilain , let them have there fun . its pointless to 4 other guys jump the lonely hero\vilain .not much fun for you , not much fun for who was fighting the 1\1 , imo .
yesterday there were 4 heros against me , one started calling me chiken (4\1) . even still i got some of them from time to time and they got me plenty too .
theres really no need for this type of language , its only a game .
if you think any hero\vilain will fight with 4\1 odds keep dreaming .
mostly its up to the players when both sides are unbalanced to make things right and fun for all , not ganking imo .
maybe some people just enjoy and like ganking , its ok , just please dont call other players names .
nights are a bit bad for me (wife aggro ) but maybe from time to time i can join .
Well was thinking Thursdays at about 8:00pm start in Bloody Bay as then if people have lower lv toons they can join in. I was thinking it would be cool if we faced off in the middel of the map and then tride to see if we could push the other side back to there base. But if this was managed then the fight whent back to the middel of of the map. Also trash talking is fine but lets not get personal about other players as we are all there for fun.
Tomorrow night in Bloody Bay at 8:00Pm mass fight forces will meet up at ground zero for fight.
I would also be happy to see more people showing up in the PvP zones. I was lucky only 1 time about two weeks ago to see more then 10 people at once in Sirens Call.
But count me in for tonights fun in Bloody Bay, i will also try to bring along as many people i can.

OOOOOO! Yes! You were jumping around a lot then?
You smacked me a few times though as when I'd dropped 'em out of the sky I had to come down to get in range!
Ha! I held out against 3 heroes! (Well not very long)

Yes, in the end I had to go and buy a flight temp power which I tried but the end drain was became too big with all my toogles. Might spec in hover for pvp.

O yes, please do!
Another person I can smack out of the sky is always welcome!
I look forward to more mashing battles then!
i think sirens calls the best pvp zone as the hot spots are fun an makes you feel like your fighting for a reason.
A few of my villan sg love to pvp and often say its deserted.
The idea of a night to pvp is great but sadly i carnt do thursdays but will pass the message on to friends who dont use the forums.

The reason its Bloody Bay is beacuse you can enter it at lv 15 depending on how these nights go and who turns up I might try and get a Sirens Call night as well. The day and time have not been set in stone this is just a test night really to see how many people turn up.
I am working tonight but will gladly turn up to other nights if they are arranged. I will play villain or hero - which everside needs the numbers bolstering. Only really dabbled with PvP although really enjoyed the couple of mass brawls I have been involved with as my scrapper.
Well, that was almost fun.
At its best this was great fun, dodging a couple of stalkers while trying to take a corruptor. But not as whole. There was much lacking. Some observations:
1. I've noticed the Stalker/Any-Other-AT ratio in villain side is getting quite boring, tonight there were a couple of nice Doms there, but I think I saw only one, maybe two brutes. Stalkers and Masterminds are becoming a norm in PvP. It's becoming an arms race - I don't want to go out without an empath to give me Clear Mind to boost my perception, because without it the only thing left to attack is that Mastermind ... who just went phase shifted...
2. The heroes have better understanding of teamwork and how they should work together. I don't think I saw a single Hold+Critical combination or any villains even remotely force-bubbled. In the beginning there were some ice shields, but they didn't last long. I think the problem with all villains being able to attack is that they easilly ignore the buff/debuff side of their powers, which costs them dearly in PvP (except the stalkers who work just fine solo, see observation 1)
3. Base-"camping" (more like base-swarming) is a double-edged sword as someone (Lineage?) pointed out - the further the attacking force gets into the base, the better the PvE defenses get, so the "if one side gets pushed back, head to Ground Zero" rule was getting opposition from the side that was getting rushed.
4. Bloody Bay lacks rewards. This is a clear and sad point, but without the Bounty system, PvP gets dull much more easilly. I think I made less than 10 pvp reputation points during tonight's battle. With Bounty I would have walked out with maybe an SO more, now I just got bored. Also the Inspiration merchant at BB makes things boring at points (When an Ice Tank pops 5 defenses, what's a villain going to do about it? bleed on him?)
5. The old "oh well, they're 50s" argument pops up every once in a while. The actual problem isn't the level, it's the optimization. The only PvP-optimized characters on the villain side are the Stalkers, whereas CoH players have created various working builds and tuned them to the maximum to all archtypes.
6. Union isn't a PvP server. Treating it like one is a mistake. We should be much more light-hearted in the gaming than we tend to be.
That's just random rambling. I had few good moments, had a great team, but all in all, I think we could improve the event somehow - both sides building teams that work as teams, getting diversity in the ranks (yeah, I'm the best to talk - Ice/Nrg blaster), moving things over to Siren's Call... something.

Would have said "When an Super Reflex Stalker pops 5 def..." but that would have been judgemental, since they weren't on our side

At least in part, I think the relative scarcity of Doms and Brutes is due to the comparative lack of SOs/slots, more an issue for Brutes and their defences from my experience; I'd love to bring my Brute out, but he's got nothing but red TOs in any of his slots (I work on a budget of complete frugality until need demands spending infamy/influence, usually around 30) and he'd be nothing but cannon-fodder inside a PvP zone. The vast majority of Stalkers I've played with/against in PvP pretty much live off their signature abilities and travel power(s) of choice, which don't require mass-slotting to be effective; MM's Supremacy signature power makes up somewhat for the lack of slots/SOs as well (and most seem to be content to sit inside PFF and watch their minions get obliterated...)
That, however, does not lend itself well to what I consider enjoyable PvP, as you noted; I'm doing my best to level up my Corruptor, if only to add a little more flavour to the villain's side as it's seldom fun playing "hunt the stalker" with a stack of perception buffs - the exception being Grim Rainbow - or "pound on the MM".

I'm not sure on this one. I think it's more an issue of players a) getting used to their toon; b) getting used to each other's toons; and in some cases c) getting used to Co* entirely. I've been on some great and some shocking hero and villain teams - but the consistently better teams have been on the hero side of things, admittedly. As CoV ages, I expect this to be less of a problem.

I think Bloody Bay needs some kind of focal point for hero/villain interaction - else it turns into a "camp the meteors/camp the base" scenario, and loses a lot of potential interaction. Importing the SC bounty system would be a step in the right direction, but I still think it maybe needs a little something else.

As more people enter the PvP zones, more natural - and more effective - teams will develop, I have no doubt of that. As for Bloody Bay/Siren's Call... BB has maybe more scope for having running battles, where SC tends to focus around either the villain or hero base with little middle-ground after any length of time. BB also provides more scope for new players to join in, with the lower entry requirements... but I still can't shake the feeling that SC is a better zone for PvP to take place in. There's no reason not to switch it up, I guess.

Things seem to be very slow on the union side of things in the PvP zones there only seem to be a few people in any of the zones at any given time. I think this is a shame as the PvP zones can be great fun but it dose seem that when ever I go there im out numberd by heros on a basis of four to one. Some times it can be fun to lead them all on a merry dance but other times I just leave as it is no fun being Ganked by + 4 heros.
So I was thinking we should try and set up a regular Sirens call night a Massive fight bettween Heros and villains. This sort of thing seems to go on a lot on defiant but I dont want to move over there as all my friends are on union . So if your interested please let me know and we can try and set up a PvP night.
