Villain/Hero Roleplay.

Simply put, does interaction between Villains and Heroes exist on Union beyond the two punching each other in the face? Heck, can the two communicate?

I was going through some of the emotes earlier, and /em surrender set off a whole train of thought in my head.

They can communicate. its in the general options under chat, just have to alter the settings as by default it hides the other sides chat. (at least it has with me).

Generaly in an open pvp zone, it comes with the inevatable 'bad' players that would show up out of the blue and start smacking the other side in the face ..

i doubt it'd be possible to do some hero/villain rp .. unless theres some bouncers

Two things to hold out for concering this:

- The fabled PvP-missions that we heard about in interviews before CoV's launch wherein two players are put together in a separate instance to compete for an objective. Hopefully, this means we can invite whomever we want to this mission (and that we have global chat by then so it's possible to keep in touch with heroes respectively villains).

- Visiting Paragon City/Rogue Isles as a villain/hero. We've been told that at some point, heroes will be able to go to The Rogue Isles. and villains to Paragon City. Here's hoping this features makes it in ASAP.

Shh...don't let the devs know, but coalitioned Villain/Hero SG's can enter each other's bases, just like Hero/Hero coalitions etc.

Im sorry your in a pvp zone having a chin wag your meat. Its not being a bad player it called PvP for a reason if. You want to role play hero vs villain better do it some where else because if I see a villain or Hero standing around then there as good as dead.

If someone is prowling around a FFA zone then fine, but if a small group of players are interacting with each other and not bothering anyone else, sticking your nose in is, quite frankly, bloody rude. Speaks a lot for a persons attitude in life really, that does.

I wouldn't like this happening anymore than you would probably, but the fact is that he does have every right to do it? Why? Because the engine, the game and the rules allow it.

Sure it's rude, it's not nice, it can even be downright [censored]-hatty... But he's got the right to do it. ;P

Hence the topic of this thread I presume, I'd like to see some more "neutral" ground for simple talking and emoting m'self. Preferably in Pargon City of Rogue Isles. ;P

Your in a PvP zone you cant have a cossey littel chat there if you do your gonna get your [censored] handed to you its that simple. And I think Pks are very differnt from people that just enjoy PvP.

Also just because Union is the un-offical Role Playing dose not mean that Im gonna change how I play in the PvP zones your are warned that you might get attacked so you should deal with it. If you want a place to RP your Villains and Heros you shold ask for some sort of safe zone to be set some where.

Its not rude to PvP in the PvP zone what would be rude would be if I could do this in some sort of safe zone then you would have the right to complian. But Im not going to ask every one thats standing still if there role playing in the PvP zone.

I hope you try it when I'm roleplaying with a group of other villains and heroes. It'll be fun to see how fast you can get ganked.

After all, not all RPers suck at PVP, contrary to popular opinion.

Do you think we've not asked? Hell, we've been begging for it since CoV was first announced! But as RPers, we get nothing to help us out. Nothing, zip, nada, zilch. The only people around here who get anything lately are the bloody PvPers...

But feel free to try to attack Miss Ellie should you see her, she's more than high enough level for the PvP zones to turn any would be ganker into paté before they're fired off their second shot.

Exactly the bloody point, there is no other place to do it which isn't a PVP zone. If you don't have CoV, you can't use the base coalition option either to interact.

True, attacking people in a PVP zone doesn't make you a bad player. Attacking people who are minding their own business trying to do something they enjoy in a risky area because the game doesn't allow it any other way makes you a pretty bad person though.

How the hell are you supposed to know if you role playing its not like you got big signs on your heads know is it. And role playing in a PvP zone is like a putting a play on you local rial way tracks a bloody stupid idea.

There you go agian calling me a ganker. Let me explain it to you if your in a PvP zone you are open to attack if you dont want to be attacked dont go in to a PvP zone simple. You could hardly call Sharp Shot a PKer or Ganker Build as he is rifle/devices. But you seem to have it in your head that any one that dares attack a role player is a ganker or Pker.

I am getting sick and tired of people like you in the PvP zones all they seem to do is moan ohh I was going to a mish or I had lag it just seems to me that I was role playing is gonna be added to that list you want to role play some where safe do it else where.

You're very unlikely to find me in PvP zones anyway, but my comment was aimed at anyone attacking my toon, not just yourself in particular; at least, that wasn't the intent even though I admit my wording could have been better.

And it's not POSSIBLE for us to do it anywhere else. Arena's are next to useless because of the random locations, in each others bases we can't actually attack each other, and in PvP zones we've no way of asking others to leave us alone except chat.

However, I do NOT get involved in others altercations when I am in PvP zones. I see a fight, or several toons together, I keep away unless invited, or attacked. Butting in is just plain rude, unfortunately rudeness and poor manners are merely encouraged by the very idea of PvP. Just look at things like Counterstrike; the very height of dreadful social skills...

1. A group of people standing around talking and fighting amongst themselves, ignoring other people. Pretty good sign. Then again, they may not be roleplayers, but that's still no reason to jump in among them and beat the living tar out of them.

2. I suppose you could announce over broadcast that you're roleplaying in a certain area and would like to be left alone. Then again someone is bound to decide to head their to not leave you alone.

How so? In PVP you can decide not to attack a group. On a railway track the train has a pretty hard time slowing down to stop.

Okay, yes, it's a PvP zone, and everyone's a target. Fine.

Let me draw a comparison:

In PvE, killstealing (attacking a mob already under attack by another player so you can steal their XP with minimal effort and risk) is considered griefing, and you can be petitioned for it. It's also considered incredibly bad etiquette.

It's no different than seeing some characters fighting it out, roleplaying as they go, and alpha-striking them into oblivion "just for kicks".

That's why I don't go to PvP zones. Because I want to enjoy the game my way, not have to worry about stopping to have a look at the scenery in case some guy decides to waste me just because he can.

If someone attacked me while i was RPing in a PvP zone, I'd send him one /tell to ask him to stop, and if he didn't, he'd be petitioned.

If your in a PvP zone and your standing still your gonna get attacked its that smiple. What you guys are asking people to do is change the way they are using a zone to fit in with your minority activty what you should be doing is trying to get a zone or a safe place where heros and villains can interact.

Guess I'll have to swim over to America, creep into Statesman's bedroom and when he comes in tie him to a chair and write a request for non PVP Hero/Villain Zones in permament black marker on his forehead in mirror writing.

Then again, I wonder why I bother. Same with this thread and the bases one, people always seem to go "lol not for roleplay!".

We've been asking for that since we first heard CoV was coming out. We've been asking for more RP content since the game was released. What did we get? A re-used warehouse map that had awful background music (Paragon Dance Party).

But since we're a minority (and will remain so, because CoH offers nothing for roleplayers, and isn't likely to anytime in the future), and the type of player becoming vocal on the boards is shifting, we don't get listened to. We get ignored, and told that what we're asking for is "quality of life", that will be looked at when there is time.

I'd like to point out that CoV is out a month and a half, and alread talk has started of the NEXT game in the series.

Seriously, they can't even keep costume options from disappearing, what makes them think they can handle a THIRD game?

If there in the PvP zone they have as much chance as taking me down as I have of taking them down. Its all about team work in the PvP zone and Im not going to check the Lv of every person I see there then send em a tell asking them if its ok I attack them.

For someone who is such a PvP enthusiast, you seem to have no idea how the system works. An exemped level 40 will be much better than a level 15.
