You're earning the prestige for your SG. If your SG is not planning to get a base, and you dont want to get salvage to sell it to someone, then yes, you're losing in SG mode.
I have a lvl 16 character, and in SG mode I get just as much inf as I do out of SG mode, I just also happen to earn prestige and have a chance to get salvage (which I _might_ be able to use in a few months)
My lvl 43 character doesn't earn inf in SG mode (I believe this is from lvl 35 up), and there are some reports that your inf gaining reduces the closer you get to 35
Just test this.
defeat a mob in sg mode, then defeat one out of sg mode... See what you get.

There haven't been 'some reports', that's just how it works. The devs have said so.

A pity really, I like the idea of being in a SuperGroup, and playing in SG mode kinda helps with the concept. The social benefits of a SG remain the same, I guess I just won't be wearing the SG uniform any more...

So your saying you won't help your SG earn prestige ? here is how it goes:
1-24 = No penalty, high pre income
25-34 = Low penalty, medium pre income (about 1/10th of the inf)
35-50 = Either Pre or Inf, no middle way.
So keep that SG uniform on a good while yet!

I guess my main query was really to do with the salvage - if I only own CoH then I don't see why the game should bother giving me salvage, as the best I can do with it is try to find someone I can sell it to.
But then again, it's not the end of the world...

I've just suggested having a Salvage Dealer who'd buy the stuff off you in exchange for Prestige... then at least you could get rid of it.

There is no reason that you can't sell it to someone else. The only problem is establishing how much a piece of salvage is 'worth'..
I offer 1k inf for every piece of salvage, if anyone wants to sell, any item, anytime, any level.
Granted I can't use it yet, but I'll take it.
The better option: Keep collecting salvage, then eventually when you buy CoV, you'll have a use for it!
I'm sure you have heard the benefits of CoV though, but just wanted to check with whether you feel you will never buy it. 4 extra slots and 1 month of play time, even if you care not for the CoV content and base stuff, for a one off £17.99 from www.play.com... That's a pretty good deal in my opinion..

I don't play CoH as much as most other players - it's more an occasional game I pick up when I've got some free time. Not for me the 6 hour task forces or all day playing. As a guide, I've been running RoboTank and Edison since about June, and I've only just got them into the 20's
For myself - and I appreciate that it's just my point of view - I can't justify spending the same amount of money again on an expansion pack for a game I don't play that often. Especially if the only reason is so that I can 'spend' my salvage and prestige.
Essentially - and this is my point - I don't want to spend another £17 of real money, just so that I can collect and spend some pretend money. That way madness lies - life's way too short for that sort of thing...
I don't begrduge earning prestige for my SuperGroup (the Sheep are a good bunch), as long as I don't loose out on anything myself.
But then again, it's only a game...

Robotank has now earnt some salvage (some kind of potion), and he's not even in a supergroup!! (how does that work??)
Edison has some tech salvage, can't recal what though...
On a related note (will I ever let it lie ? 
) I'm beginning to see a worrying trend - Robotank has been invited to several SuperGroups over the past two weeks, only to find the only reason is to help pay for some other player's Base Designs - not the reason I'd want to join a SG at all.

well ive noticed if ure in SGMode you get salvage at a fast rate, if outside of that mode you get it extremely slowly, but still get some now and then think tyl's got over 70-80 pieces atm, thx to her char and the generous firey rose ;D
Hey guys, apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere (if it has, I can't find it...)
Anyway, I've been playing Edison in SG mode this evening, and I've earnt some salvage on a rather long Clockwork mission.
I don't own CoV (and probably won't for some time) so what use is the salvage to me ? Can I trade it in for Influence ? I don't think the Super Sheep have a base, and even if they did, I gather I won't be able to enter it anyway, let alone use the salvage.
If I can't use the salvage, then why did I earn it ?
And to further increase my chance of getting flamed, what's the point in me earning Prestige for the Super Group, if I don't see the benefit of it ? (Aside from me being a thoroughly nice chap) - I don't begrudge earning points for the Sheep, but am I losing out on influence by doing this ?
If so - then here's the biggie - if you don't own CoV are loosing out by playing in SuperGroup mode ??
