New Agro cap

Incase people haven't seen, we can no longer hold agro on more than 17 mobs.

This 'could' be considered a buff for tanks rather than a nerf - at least less mobs will be wanting to hit us now.

Was herding broken then, worked fine in I5.

Better AI might have been for a max to chase you, rather than ignore you when you are standing next to them. I would hate for any realism to sneak in to these constant changes.

This is not really taht bad for tanks, however it is a nerf for teams and a hugely nasty nerf for the Eden Trial.

However shouldn't the aggro number be the same as the Blaster Nova powers? I think they are 20.

What is the spawn size in an 8 man Unyielding or Tenacious mission? I think it is higher than 17 but I might be wrong.

I think that they want us to have 2 or more holders per 8 man group. A holder being a tank or a controller.

obviously a tank is still useful. but as unthing says u r probably gonna need more than 1 to be safe.

shame really, i've got a low lvl tank runnin around hollows atm and was enjoyin roundin up a mass of lvl6 outcasts but nvrmind

I know, Hold > Taunt.

However I think you are referring to me calling tanker and controllers holders. Maybe I should call them occupiers then. Both Controller and Tankers occupy the enemy so the rest of the team can defeat them in relative safety. The 2 ATs are different in what they can accomplish and how, but when used properly have a similar effect on the team.

I have been on a number of controller heavy team as Golden Golem and have felt almost completely redundant.

Problem I find is that 2 tanks is a pain for both tanks involved, as you get confusion about who is meant to be aggroing who and/or one tank doing most of the work while the other feels like a "reserve". For the rest of the team 2 tanks maybe be better but for the tank himself, it's solo all the way for happiness.

How is it that 99% of "balances" are nerfs? It always seems they just want to make it harder and harder and make people want to play it less... I just don't get it!

Worse than that, the aggro won't be exlusive - you'll have overlap between the 2 tanks which will be a waste of a "taunt".

"You take left, I'll take right" Problem solved, even if it does overlap it doesn't really matter as long as they're all locked down.

I did wonder why Rikti were just stood there doing nothing whilst I was playing. Sucky. Can't say I like this aggro cap, I was in a Crey mission and then a Rikti mission, there were only 3 of us on the first one and 2 of us on the second one and I still had over 20 of them on me, how am I supposed to save people when the enemies ignore my taunt? The blaster I was with nearly got totalled because my taunt SUDDENLY DECIDED NOT TO WORK.

Anyone who reads my other posts knows I generally wait and see how the changes actually affect toons before speaking out, but this is frickin' ridiculous. Albeit the simplest: WORST. NERF. EVER.

I wouldn't complain about the agro cap with the lack of defense tanks have now with ED.

Tonight 3 tanks (1 fire/ss, 1 fire/fire and my fire/ice) and a spines regen scrapper all lvl 50 STRUGGLED with freaks in a Dreck mission! This was just the start of the mission. Whereas I used to be able to hurd 6/7+ groups and not take too much damage now i can't even manage 1 group on my own!

After testing our dif tanks to see how dif builds coped we decided to cut the [censored] and go for Dreck and see if we could do it. Bear in mind this is THREE tanks and a scrapper yeah? We had NO chance! Dreck took us all down eventually after countless numbers of insps were popped!

How the hell can we be expected to do our job as tanks when we are this poor?

Apart from PvP now I am hanging my tanks gloves up. This is so disheartening - I have respec to the best I am going to be with the recent changes and now I feel like a Brute but without the advantage of fury!

I like a challenge and so far until ED changes have been adaptable but this is daft - anything more than 3 same enhances in a pwr is useless but 3 damres is downright [censored]!

Anyway as i said - be thankful for the new agro cap!
I am so disheartened by this that I am retracting my recomendations for CoH at least. With what I have seen in CoV it wont be long till the bat swings in there.

Where the [censored] is the fun???????

I feel for you bud, i really do, because i know exactly what you mean. I thought with the last respec that i'd beat the devs to the nerfs, so totally gimped Sulphur, which worked rather well. As we got another respec with I6, i decided to use it to become a tank again and realised i shouldnt have bothered, my gimped version was far more useful

Obviously tanker defence has been cut across the board, but fire/* was never the most defensive set in existance, quite the opposite in fact, but always could handle anything and everything that was thrown its way. I guess they didn't want that to be the case. Fire/* was always billed as the most offensive (and therefore weakest defensively) and I guess in I6 and ED this really comes to the fore as all the other tanks have been weakened too, just since Fire/* never had the best def or res in the first place (even though it still had more than enough to deal with anything thrown its way), now it shows as the least defensive set.

The lack of defense before I coped with because being fire/ice meant I had an ice patch I could drop which made most enemy fall and therefore less hits on me. This meant that I could then use my attacks/team could attack and finish them off in safety.

Now my defenses are lowered and so is the amount of damage I dish out. So a fight takes longer and my health drops faster making me run away like a girl instead of standing like a Tank. In the Dreck mission the SCRAPPER was able to take as much damage if not more than us tanks and he also had the added extra damage output on his side. How is this fairer and more fun?

I can see Tanks becoming redundant and scrappers taking over as if they are like the 1 I was teamed with then they can have higher HP and more damage output and can still get some sort of taunt to handle agro.
