This. If not for the sexy animations I never would have gotten my db/sr to 50.

Well I decided to follow the advice here and try them both and see the attacks and animations before making up my mind.
So I created Bronze-Tiger(Cl/WP) and Steel-Dragon (DB/WP) and will see which one impresses me more over the next few days.

Well looking at them both in action I have these conclusions so far..
- DB has better animations for the attacks, hands down.
- Claws however seems to do more damage. This may change later on though as I start developing more Combo chains into DB. One Base damage alone however the advantage clearly seems to rest with Claws.

And Claws will further cement it's lead at 18. DB will come roaring back at 26 based on the attack and it's part of your best combo, and Claws finishes off nicely at 32. The one advantage that Claws has for me is if I want something done instantly, Claws makes that happen. DB has to go through a combo to do the same, or will have to do it in melee as were Claws does it at range. Using Shockwave with it's ranged, fast animating, and wide cone KB for an alpha strike is something you just simply can't get in DB. 1K Cuts is beautiful to look at, but speed isn't it's thing.

I have both a DB/WP and a Claws/SR. The DB/WP is 50 only through sheer stubbornness to stick with it. Locked into combo use is probably my biggest gripe with the set. No flexibility, unless you like gimping yourself by not getting the combo bonuses. My Claws/SR is only 36, but she's on track to kick more butt than my DB once she gets to 50.
My two favorite sets. Can't go wrong with either really. DB is prettier, Claes gives you more range and control over mobs. Both are great fun and full of win. Just playing one of each is a very good decision...the only thing your doing wrong is playing them on scrappers instaed of brutes! *ducks

My Claws/WP scrapper; Bronze-Tiger, hit 50th over Double XP weekend and now that he is mostly IO'd out is frankly a nasty, nasty, damage dealing machine.
Now to work on the DB/WP version...

<--- Who's Claws/regen is still just under level 48 and was made more issues ago than I dare try to remember. After my level 37 Ill/rad dings 50, screw ever making a 100% solo charatcer again.
Well, in my defense, I started playing CoH the day it launched and it only took me a few weeks to get my first character to 50th even then.
But there is no denying that the AE and double XP weekend sped things up considerably.

That said, I haven't ever gotten a Claws char above lvl12ish, either.

I'd try both but I like Claws much more than DB. I love the animations for the Claws attacks, I love Focus too. My Claws/WP was the most fun toon I've ever levelled, even though I don't do much with it since it hit 50. I am considering a Claws/Elec or a Claws/Fire once I have got my DM/WP to 50 but I am not sure cause I want to try CLaws with FURY! too and I dont want to burn out on the set.
