The gas dissipated.

It's silly to wear gas masks all the time if there's no reason to.

They're labeled "Axis America" and wearing the AA uniforms.

I don't buy the SAPPAN OTHER MARCUS COLES because, if it was that easy, Lord Recluse would be sucking the life force out of every single alternate version of himself (or getting his own lifeforce sucked out by an alternate version of himself. Ha!) Instead he has zany time travel plots and builds a Web to turn Grandville into an impenetrable fortress that no one can assault or his pylons will fulcrum shift their strength into him. That's draining in-universe superheroes, not alternate-dimension Recluseses.

Requiem might fully support the Reichsman's return. It becomes an untanglable mess when you consider he's exploiting Nictus shards while in charge of Column troops in the past. He may just hope the old italian fart and the nazi superman kill each other off and he'll become supreme commander of an intergalactic army of space nazis.

Also, Reichsmann having a "Fifth Column" log on his chest is no surprise- the old Axis Amerika map was liberally festooned with Fifth Column banners, which actually makes some sense- you're in the alternate Paragon City, and the timeline appears to have diverged during WWII, when the Column was active in the States. Hmm... wonder if Axis Amerika was created when Ubelmann succeeded?

[/ QUOTE ]
Damn, you beat me to it.

Remember guys, Axis Amerika is simply an alternate Earth where the Nazis won, presumably because Marcus Cole was on the Nazi side. Who's to say that Reichsman wasn't the leader of the 5th Column of that world, and after the war decided "Yeah, all this is mine now. Step over, Hitler."

The "I only serve the 5th Column" line needs to change, I agree. At the same time, him having the 5th Column emblem on his chest makes some sense.

Another thing bothering me about this whole incident is WHERE THE HELL ARE THE COUNCIL!?

Why isn't Requiem getting super-ticked that Reichsman just showed up out of nowhere and absconded with his private army? All of his plans have been thrown into utter and complete disarray and he's done NOTHING!

[/ QUOTE ]

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!

If the Council's current state roughly flows along a character's level, the Council as in the midst of a civil war amoung the various Council members. The details are in the Kheldian story arcs. Towards the end of the plot Requiem is even estranged from Arahkn. That might the the event that triggered Requiem into launching relaunching the 5th Column.

[/ QUOTE ]Nonsense. The psychological effect of facing down opponents wearing gas masks is pretty significant. You can see propoganda footage from WW2 of troops and even children wearing gas masks in situations where there was no concern about gas, purely because it generated a powerful psychological effect in opponents.

My mastermind enjoyed having a power that works. The BSF is indeed fun now.

I don't buy the "Maybe the Fifth Column is an elite organization in Axis Amerika Earth" explanation.

The elites have already been described for us in our history. Amerika Korps is the elite force that serves Reichsman, not the Fifth Column. Source

I can picture Reichsman being contacted by the Fifth Column and getting them to serve him, Hell, I can even see him installing them as the elite faction on Axis Earth out of gratitude for covering his escape.

None of that, however, explains why he's wearing their damn uniform as soon as he's out of the box.

And the emblem on his chest is just plain ugly. Such a thing makes sense for Statesman's spandex outfit (like Superman's "S"), and like I mentioned earlier, Recluse's symbol is severely muted. Plus, Reichsman is supposed to be wearing some kind of military uniform. I have yet to see a military uniform with a big fat bullseye on its chest like that. A small badge over the heart or in his hat, I can picture that, but the big symbol is just... It's like a glaring "Screw You" to the game's canon.

Look at that. A full-grown woman pulling off pigtails. Her crazy is off the charts.

Grumble. I know I should have reread the history on Reischman again. I'm usually much better about retaining lore. I had forgotten the Axis Earth version of Freedom Phalanx ws called Amerika Korps. Buth that still doesn't invalid all of what I suggested.

Axis America did use the Fifth Column logo, though. As has been said already, it was prominently displayed all over the original Axis America map.

All we know about Axis America is it was part of 'a world where America had lost to Nazi Germany'. Note that nothing is said about the rest of the world, just America. The Fifth Column were specifically dedicated to operating within America, which is why they're called the Fifth Column. The term means 'a group of people who clandestinely undermine a larger group, such as a nation, from within, to the aid of an external enemy.'

So it makes sense that an alternate America that fell to Nazi Germany would have fallen specifically because of the Fifth Column, who would then have no further need to remain underground. That's why there is no Fifth Column in Axis America, but their symbol is still revered.

The 5th Column of the Axis world could simply be the minions. Something akin to how Primal's Freedom Corps. or Longbow operates. The super-powered lieutenants of Reichsman are the Amerikan Korps.

I was kinda ticked about this whole tip-toeing around Recluse business myself. Dude, I kicked your future self's butt, if we fight, the world is doomed... you're gonna let me borrow your Lieutenants and anything else I want and you'll like it.

This is still the guy who pays your hospital bill and keeps the Arbiter Drones from vaporizing you. He's only letting you run around (some of) his Isles because he feels you can be of use yet.

According to fate, they guy can't start a fight with me (or any Chosen One) since that will eventually lead to the destruction of Earth due to our epic-ness. Likewise, I can't take him on in a war for the same reason. I have the advantage though, my character has already defeated him in a possible future and I don't care if the world gets destroyed (that IS my character's goal after all ).

Nope. According to fate, Recluse can't use you to take over the world in the way he originally intended when he busted your [censored] from the Zig. Period. He decided to keep you around because you're a powerful guy, possibly near or equal in power to one of his lieutenants and even himself, and he knows full well he can use those for his other schemes - Recluse's Victory, anybody?

By the way, I'd like to point something often omitted out. Temporal scaling. When you're sent back in time, you're changed to the power level you would have had at the time. Now, if you were sent forward to the time you just helped Recluse take on the world, and he just had to go through fighting you once...
