Fire/EM blapper w/o Rain of Fire or Fire Breath?
If you're doing PvP no, don't take Fire Breath, it animates too long. For PvE I'd say never skip it, using it as an opening power with Build Up and Aim and Fire Ball and you will have annihilated most of enemies in large groups. Then when the minions are done you run in and Blaze the cheese out of the LTs then once they're all dead you Energy Punch and Bone Smash the Bosses till their stunned and Blaze, Fire Blast, and Bone Smash them into oblivion.
Also I am not a fan of Rain of Fire due to it's wonderful scattering effect.
If you were a Fire/Ice, you could take it because with Shiver, it would be like shooting fish in a barrel but since you're not I say skip it!

I would also say fire breath because you can pair it with boost range and make it super special awesome

PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.

I only like Rain of Fire situationally, but since you specified blapper, I'd have to say you'd favor the situations I like to use Rain of Fire for. So I would personally take it as a blapper.
I know someone will say nuh-uh, but you should never skip breath.
If it came down to either/or, take breath.

There used to be a concept as a Slow'er in PvP. Fire/Ice, yes, Shiver then RoF combination worked really well. (Though it's really f--ked these days =/)
Fireball + Fire Breath will drop most minions, if used correctly. I know you can't melee them if the're dead... but personally, I can live with that sacrifice.

So you think you're a hero, huh.
@Boltcutter in game.
/EM has no AoE powers, therefore skipping Fire Breath is not something I would do.
IF you mostly solo on difficulties 1, 3, or 5 and/or PvP, then you could skip it and rarely miss it.
Why Blasters? Empathy Sucks.
So, you want to be Mental?
What the hell? Let's buff defenders.

That's the way I do it as well. Fireball -> Firebreath -> Blap the remaining Lt / Boss.
There's no need to waste blaps on minions.
The Bacon Compels You.
Rain of Fire you can skip, Fire Breath is just to nice to pass. Aim + BU + Fire Breath + Fire Ball = mostly dead spawns. Even with +1 minions they are toast, +2 minions are easily cleaned up, most flee as you Blap the LT's or Bosses. I burned through the mid 20's street sweeping in Dark Astoria as the big spawns are plentiful and they are particularly susceptible to fire.
I thought the banished had their -fireres removed a long long time ago?

My preference is to skip Rain of Fire - unless you have a power or a team member with immobilize, all it does is irritate you and the rest of the team when the mobs run and have to be chased down.
I love Fire Breath. I took Stealth, which lets me get into the best position for the cone, and not worry about the slower animation time. Aim + BU + Fire Breath + Fireball = roasted minions and a lieutenant that only needs a punch.

It depends on which of the mobs you're going after. All of the zombies have a lower resistance to fire, lethal, and energy damage than to other types, but I'm pretty sure that the ones with "Dry" or "Dessicated" in their name (Dessicated Husk, Dessicated Chamber, Dry Husk, Dry Chamber, but not Rotting Husk or Rotting Chamber) take extra damage from fire damage that gets past their resistance.

I only had Breath of Fire until lvl 20, repec'd into Stamina and never picked it or Rain of Fire back up.
Level 50 build still doesn't have em either. I dont like the long animation for Fire Breath or the scatter from Rain of Fire.
As the thread title asks, how viable would a Fire/EM Blapper (not really a true Blapper, since I'll be using both my primary and secondary) be with both Rain of Fire and Fire Breath missing? I have Fire Breath in my current build, and it just feels way too slow for me, especially considering it's a cone. I know that Fire is touted as a great AoE set, but since I'd be in and out of melee, would my effectiveness really be that severely reduced if I were to respec out of Fire Breath?
