just mosey on down to Deviant arts tutorial section and you can search through them. there are some great resources on there.

as for software. photo shop and illustrator are the industry standard so if you can get your hands on those, Great. there is also paint shop pro, gimp (Yeah that's what it's called...) which is freeware, corel painter (which i wouldn't recommend without a tablet) and ive heard some buzz about something called painter tool sai. if your not wanting to spend money or download software illegally i'd go with gimp. from what i hear it's alright

And it also leaves us on the subject of leather and inappropriate thread names, i was hoping to find something Nsfw in here ahwell you got some attention with it atleast

Echo the recommend for the DeviantArt Tutorials, and here's some other possible sources:

"DIGITAL INKING 101: V 1.2"
http://www.methart.com/tutorials/digi-ink.html

A thread on the DC boards on Digital Inking
http://dcboards.warnerbros.com/web/m...eID=2004340245

You might find some tutorials over at www.Tutorialized.com
http://www.tutorialized.com

Some PURCHASE-able tutorials from www.digitalarttutorials.com
http://digitalarttutorials.com/tutorial_detail.php?id=7

I also echo the recommendation to get a drawing tablet if you can afford one - some do come with paining* software bundled in that can be nice.

* EDIT: while I admit that digital inking can, indeed, be a pain sometimes - what I meant to type there was "painting programs"

Seriously though, I can't stress enough that if you are new to these programs, they are NOT going to make you a comic artist over night. Comic Art is not clicking a bunch of buttons like you're in some kind of massive multiplayer superhero game...

Wait. What did I just say? Focus.

Okay so what I'm getting at is... you're gonna need a tablet to really get a "feel" for what these things can do. Without one, you're only playing in half the pool.

You can do it, but I wouldn't call it swimming. Wait. What? Focus.

Try going old school first, then apply that to these programs. You seem to have some drawing capability. Can you show us an example of a finished piece, if you have one you want to show that is...

I have an entire folder in my DA favorites called "Art Tutorials", it covers a wide range of what I wanted, still want to learn. And also the styles that I like or think could be helpful to learn.

Click my signature>Faves>Art Tutorials - (scroll down on the left yo, on the left!)

EDIT: or you can click here

If you want a book, I can recommend 2... but I'm not awake yet. I will paste those in for you later.

I know I am about to be a pain when I ask this to but I have a serious problem coming up with poses. I can see them in my head but it is hard to translate them through. Maybe I just need more practice. But if one guys no of a site or tutorial that can go to so I can practice on different pose or even technique you use to start off an original pose it will be super appreciated.

Poses!

She's one of the more awesome stock people I've run across on dA, and she encourages artists to practice figure drawing with her shots.

Wassy and Lady judgement thank you guys for being so helpful. I am about to cry.

Okay coffee is brewing, and here are those books:

Hi-Fi Color for Comics

and

How to Color for Comics

A warning...

Guru-eFX, the professional coloring shop for the Industry was supposed to publish a new version of their old 2002 book. It has been on back order on several sites, but the truth is these guys are SO busy, they haven't finished the book yet.

Antartic Press their publisher shows it with a new cover, and there are 2 versions, an Ultimate done in 2005, and an Advanced, which I believe is the one they have been promising to finish.

Don't order the new one unless you want your money to sit in limbo. Or if you believe they will finally publish it, good luck in your order.

The 2002 or 2005 versions are both fine. Order those. you can get them fairly cheap as I showed you in that link above.

The first book by Brian Miller and his wife Mitsy is very good. They have their own forum, and THEY answer your questions.

Yeah, SenshiStock is one of the good ones for that.

Also, some people like to use Poser or Daz3D to create posed virtual models to draw from.

[/ QUOTE ] hmmm, try using stick figures with all the joints to get a basic feel, maybe that would help.... other than that all I have to suggest is finding stock images of poses and practice practice practice,

sorry I can't be of much more help

Amusing title.

You can use GIMP or Paint.net as some free software to work with. Preferably you want Adobe Photoshop and/or Corel Painter for more advance projects but they are expensive.

for inking and flat coloring I just use the polygonal lasso, layers, and the paint brush tool in photoshop and work around the lines/areas of the sketch as needed. You can also save selections to come back later to them as well if need be.
