Solo Leveling?

Hi Guys,

Returning player, haven't been around since around I7 or so.

I'm trying to level a fire/fire scrapper, mostly solo (I play quite a bit at work), and I'm not sure what the best approach is now.

Should I spend most of my time in the AE? or is it still faster leveling to go around the city?

I have experienced most of the content under lvl 30 so many times that it bores me, I really want to reach 30 ASAP.

What do you guys think?

You haven't seen all of the new content under 30. Faultline has received a major revamp and is now THE go-to place for 15-25.

Can I do faultline solo?

Fire/Fire? Go to Dark Astoria.

Level 15-25 dont skip out on faultline (revamped entirely in Issue 8 so you will not have seen it)

Other new arcs under 30 include
Welcome to Oroborus (25 and up) short and make sure to go to Heroic for the outbreak mission
Twlights Son in Oroborus (25-34), Excellent short arc/pseudo TF a little challanging solo based on Troy Hickman's work.

Montague Castanella - Lost and Found (level 10+), run to unlock access to the Midnight Club

Inside the Midnighter Club is Mercedes Sheldon with 3 new arcs level 20-25 for Heros

@Mr Falkland Islands"A Nation Goes Rogue" Arc# 2369 "Toasters and Pop Tarts" Arc#116617

Yep, though there's a few Elite Bosses in the arcs, so you might want to either get a good build, some teammates or a Shivan.

If you haven't done the Hollows, they've made the zone much less painful now. (toned down the spawns, added stores, a trainer and a hospital, and repeating missions)

Really? I HATED the Hollows back in the day

Are you aware of the temp travel powers awarded in the Atlas Park and Kings Row safeguard missions?

At levels 5-9 once you complete 3 radio missions in Kings Row your detective will give you the AP safeguard. At 10 you have a 50/50 chance of AP or KR safeguards and at 11-14 you will get the KR one.

The AP one gives you a 2 hour flight pack and the KR one gives you a 2 hour super jump pack.

Whoa, nice, have to check that out now.

Hmm, looks like OP has missed a lot of good stuff for the under level 30 crowd.

Good reminders to all of us complaining about how nothing new has been added for lowbie characters.

EDIT to Add: Of course, some new stuff for ultra-lowbie characters under level 10 would be much appreciated!

@Ad_Astra Keep in mind that the OP (me) included the fact that he had been gone from the game for quite a while.

It wasn't a slam against you.

I literally meant that while you were away, they added a bunch of stuff - you missed it because you weren't playing at the time.

I'm hoping you will find it a pleasant surprise.

A friend of mine came back to the game with almost exactly the same situation as you. Here's what I suggested to him:

Level 1-5 - Fiddle around Atlas Park
Level 5 - King's Row, talk to the Detective
Level 5-7 - Do three police missions and the bank Safeguard mission for your jet pack
Level 8-15 - Go to Hollows and run the arcs there, leaving to do the other stuff in between
Level 10-12 - Do three police missions in Steel Canyon and the bank Safeguard mission for your jump pack
Level 12 - Invention Tutorial at Steel Canyon University (don't do it at 10 -- at 12 you get a level 15 enhancement)
Level 12 - Midnighters Club mission arc from the Steel University (Montague Castanella)
Level 15-25 - Faultline, leaving when you need to level up for next contact tier
Level 15-20 - Five radio missions in Skyway plus a Safeguard to get a self rez power
Level 20-30 - Striga, same as Faultline
Level 20-25 - Mercedes Sheldon, Midnighter Club, three arcs
Level 20-25 - Five radio missions in Talos plus a Safeguard to get a summon teammates power
Level 25-35 - Croatoa, same as Striga
Level 25+ - Oroborous, four intro missions and a soloable TF
Level 25-30 - Five radio missions in Talos plus a Safeguard to get a movement increase auto power

That will take you to 30 doing nothing but content new since I7, except Striga and Croatoa, which are worth redoing in my opinion. If you find yourself needing some levels before the next contact will talk to you (happens when you finish one arc but are not high enough to start the next), that's when AE would fit in nicely.

If you wait until 22 you can get a 25 enhancement. Much more useful than a level 15.

You can solo to 50, I solo 99% of my toons, only my HEATS and VEATS team before 50.

To be honest there is no better way in my experience, I've been soloing my toons since I started this game and the only repetative thing to me is getting the same accolades on every single fricking toon I make *yawn*. Best advice I can give is don't stick to one route, mix it up, AE/Contacts/Radio/Papers and Ouro missions, do all the content till 25 then go to ouro and do what you missed, get your badges for your accolades. You will find you will have so much to do you will be scared of out-leveling things.

(Which reminds me, you can niow turn xp gain off in your in game options, nifty little tool)

Only thing you should team for is Giant Monsters just to mix things up. TF/SF if you wish, but the road to solo 50 is slow and painful, the good thing about it is you really do learn so much about this game and your AT, but it's good to learn team dynamics and how you perform in one along the way.

Good luck, from a fellow Lone Wolf

And even they shouldn't need to. Though, it's much harder with the HEATS. The VEATs, however, perform rather well before 24, fantastic after.

Do story arcs. Apart from mission bonuses the end of arc XP bonuses really help soloists level quickly. Skip through missions when you can (Defeat Boss and his crew means you only really have to defeat the boss and his men in the last room, you don't have to clear the map) and try to open new arcs every 5 levels. You'll fly through the levels. Forget about the AE.

@Ad_Astra I'm THRILLED to see more content.

@JohnWrath I'm in Wine Sales, I stand on Aisle 2 in a high end grocery store all day, Alt-Tabbing in and out of whatever MMO i'm playing at the moment. It's pretty cush.

@everybody Thanks for all the tips, one last question. In some of the other games I have played, there are good Soloing Timelines that kind and wise players have compiled as a reference. Is there a website I can check out that might fit this?
