A Local Guide to Ill/Rad Controllers
Your guide is really fantastic and very helpful, I was kind of curious (unless I just missed it) Do you have any plans to expand the guide to include the latest 4 Incarnate slots?
|
I tried all of the original Alpha options (but new ones have been added). I have Pyronic in my Judgment slot . . . but I really want to change that to Ionic after using Ionic on several other characters. Those are the only two I have tried because they just seem to be better than the others.
I also have Reactive in Interface, Clarion in Destiny and the Warworks pet for Lore. All of those are just personal preference based upon what I have read and seen about options in the Incarnate system. They each seemed to be the best choices when the Incarnate slots were first made available, but new choices have been added. I have yet to try everything. I'm not experienced enough with all of the Incarnate stuff to really make recommendations with any kind of support. Part of my problem is too many level 50 characters and not enough willingness to grind trial after trial after trial after trial.
The Destiny slot seems to have the biggest impact overall. I went with Clarion because it solves the occasional mez problem that I have. The heal, Rebirth, is amazingly good, too, and I have gone with that one on my few melee characters who went that far in the Incarnate area. I have yet to try the others, but I can see characters who would benefit from each of the options.
Even the one guide on the incarnate slots seems to be a work-in-progress. See THIS THREAD.

I was wondering what you thought of this build. It's basically your perma PA build with some tweaks and minus the Hamidons.

I can suggest a few tweaks:
First, I'm not sure why you are avoiding the Acc/Dam Hami-Os when you have a full set of Apokalypse. The Acc/Dam Hami-Os aren't all that expensive.
Spectral Wounds: Consider droping a slot from SW to move into RI. If you drop the Dam/Rech, you only lose 0.12 second of Recharge (not enough to make a difference) and about 3 points of Damage. That extra slot will get you another 5% Recharge (see below).
Blind: One thing you can do is use the Baz Gaze quad instead of the triple to get some more accuracy. You currently have 54.52 damage in Blind according to Mids. My suggested slotting of an Acc/Dam Hami-O and a common Damage would increase that to 65.34. Even if you don't want to use the Hami-O, you could even put in an Acc/Dam from Devastation and a Ghost Widow Chance for Psi proc for average damage of 64.82, but that won't be consistent.
Deceive: I use the Conf/End rather than the pure Confuse. It helps a bit with endurance when I'm trying to stack Deceive on AVs. You lose 2 seconds duration from 74 to 72 seconds. Not a big difference, though.
Rad Infection: ToHit Debuff is far more important than Defense debuff. Use that extra slot from Spectral Wounds to add a 4th slot, and slot 4 Dark Watcher for an extra 5% Recharge.
Phantom Army: Change that pure Damage from the Soulbound set to the Dam/Rech. It will make a big difference on your Recharge for PA.
Recall Friend: Consider trying to get a Zephyr -knockback here, as Recharge does very little for this power. That way, you can actually slot Resistance in the APP shield. Also, I would take Spectral Terror at 26.
Spectral Terror: Since you slotted an Apocalypse set, you can change this to Glympse of the Abyss for better overall enhancement.
Those changes will increase your Recharge to about 57 seconds.

I also want o say thanks for this guide. It made me want to slot and play my Ill/rad again.
I did some modifications to perma builds I found here but it still works great.

Consume helps with long fights and I like Glimpse of Abyss proc in Spectral. Managed to solo the lot of AV's and Kraken so far with it without any problem. Using merits for the most of expensive recipes helps a lot and fortunately purple confuse set is not in the same price range as damage one.
"If you want to win you must not lose."
"Easiest way to turn defeat into a victory is to put on the enemy's uniform"
"Better strategic retreat than dishonorable defeat"
We still don't know how likely it is that the game might be "saved," but I also wanted to express my appreciation for the many people who:
(a) Shared their experience and knowledge over the many years of this game through guides and forums -- I learned a lot and was able to use and share that knowledge.
(b) teamed with me while I tried things out -- I know that may have been frustrating (or quite funny) at times.
(c) read this guide and made use of some of the information. I have really enjoyed helping folks just as I was helped. A few people have said "hello" in game, and that was really nice.
(d) If and when the game goes dark, I will definitely be on my Illusion/Rad/Fire character, Area Man on Guardian.

I haven't payed much attention to order of getting some for the skills in Mid's, and you are right on the order, ofc. I normally take Hasten+AM ASAP.
You make a lot of sense with each comment, thank you.
Althought team teleport is a drawback of the build, I'm keeping it because I like to farm in the Statesman map and teleporting him in the middle of a spawn is good for his foot stomp. Also, even though endurance is a problem, I'm having too much fun with teleporting. I've leveled with super-jump and super-speed and I love the maneuverability of jump.
I'm doing a spiritual incarnate, and yes, you are again, I don't eed as much recharge with those dmg purples, so I'll use my posi blast set.
Thank you very much LocalMan!
