10 Times the Victor not really accolade-worthy

Not any more anyway. The original design was that you could beat the Katie TF without defeating Mary MacComber 10 times, but if you stuck around and did because your team was so awesome you got a prestigious badge and a new costume piece. Now? Now you can't beat the TF without earning it. I think a redesign is in order.

The original INTENT was that you defeat her 10 times. And what does "accolade-worthy" mean? There are accolades that give nothing and some that give significant powers. This one certainly doesn't have any significant impact on game play so it's fine just the way it is. Redesigning badges that are working correctly is a huge waste of time.

I think you kind-of, sort-of have a point with this. *shrugs*

But as far as the Devs spending any time or effort to "fix" this? Well I might put it on the "big list of things for our Devs to do" but it'd probably be pegged behind roughly 3,781 more important things to do first.

I think that beating the TF without it was an accident, not the design intent. That said, it's hardly the only TF/SF that awards multiple badges...ITF and LRSF come to mind.

Run a Katie on a non optimized team and watch the team wipes accumulate. Srsly. At level 34, taking down 10 AVs, the last +3, can be a real challenge. Lots of us are spoiled, making sure we have Rads or Emps on that TF, but it can be a real pain. We had a worse time running Katie TF with all tanks than we did running States TF with all tanks.

What?
Let me get this straight...
You are asking for a TF to be redesigned, because you HAVE to defeat the AV in it, as the content was intended?

So you want the accolade by completely skipping/failing this mission? (the way it was done during the express-katie-exploit)

I had never seen the Mary McCromber mission exploited with the 'fail mission' exploit until the introduction of the recipe/invention system. PRIOR to that, every time I did that TF, the team always defeated Mary 10 times.

Are you wanting an accolade nice-and-easy by not having to do this particular mission at all, and completing the remainder of the TF in minimal time? (As the HARDEST and only challenging mission just so happens to be the one you are suggesting to be 'changed').

Either you have posted this to start a flame war, or, I have completely misunderstood your objective.

Your request (as I have interpreted it) makes you sound like you want something for relatively nothing.

Why would you run an all tank TF versus a massive bunch of witches where the majority of them have HURRICANE??
Hurricane does a nasty to-hit/accuracy debuff.
Melee toons always suffer trying to land a punch on a critter using hurricane.
And you brought a completely all-melee team?

Not to mention the fact you didn't bring anything to stop them flying off, control, debuff, buff, or do ranged damage for that matter?

I could see the valid point for doing an all-AT team to do the TF. I like such super teams. But knowing that they have hurricane I would never take an all-melee team for this particular TF.

UH..to be fair..You dont need an optimal team. You just need a team with varied powersets and at least a few support toons. some of my cleanest katie runs involved cold and trick arrow defenders galore with nary a rad or emp in sight.

I'm not going to argue badges - some of them are ridculously hard and others stupidly easy, so all logic is out the window for me on that one, including accolades. The one that requires all those *shudder* illusionist pets is the first one I'd slap on the review list.

The only thing that 10 times the victor has ever given out as a reward is the witch hat. So what exactly is that argument here? Its not like this accolade gives you 5 percent to your health/endurance or some snazzy power, you get a hat end of story.

Why re-design this TF? So you can carry around a badge saying that you were (x) times the victor until you hit 10? That is just tedious.....

+800% recovery, +25% to hit, +100% recharge, and only a -10% defense?...

Not worth doing an easy TF? Finding Jack of Irons is more difficult. This is one of the easier accolades to get?!?

Even with killing the AV 10 times it should not last more then 45 minutes.

Now now, I think it has some merit, I remember the first run of Katie we did no one on our team knew we need to stay and fight. Wow that was long ago. We had to run it twice to defeat her 9 more times to get the 10 times badge and the hat. My friend really really wanted that hat.

I was just running this tf two days ago and was sked up we had a solid team and Katie at 8, 9, 10. I don't remember the number of team wipes we had I was worried some were going to quit, but everyone held out and we won. Total tf time was 2 hours 07 sec. 93 minutes were just fighting the Marys. The team wipes and regrouping really beat us up. Yes pun intended But we won.

Oh my point sometimes you just want to get the Amy power. I think if we could have finished the TF without the forced defeats, at 7 x the victor, we might have even it it meant reduced merits, as long as we got Amy.

"10 times" is an accolade because it has a logical prerequisite of the first 9 badges, plus a reward for obtaining it (costume piece).

I guess the first 9 badges could have been intended to be used as some sort of meter to show how far you actually got in that mission (before her final defeat was required), but even then it's a silly idea.

At this point, I don't think there would be anything wrong with removing the first 9 badges and make "10 times" a defeat badge instead.

Again I think the OP has a point that the "Ten times the Victor" badge probably shouldn't be considered an accolade anymore. I'd even agree with the idea that the 1-9 badges could be removed from the game completely. None of the major badge tracking sites ever tracked those badges as "real" badges anyway.

But once again I don't think there's a majorly pressing need to make these changes. As far as "things the Devs need to fix for badges" go I'd actually rate finally getting artwork for the Rescuer, Clothes Horse, Fashionable and Ostentatious badges far more important than tinkering with these Victor badges.
