AE Farm Mission Setting
I can't believe I'm about to say this: I wish City Life was back. I thought he as just a sad little guy who could only dream of being as awesome as powers or Brewha when posting suggestions. Now I see that he was one of the more interesting and entertaining people on this subject. The bar keeps dropping.
Excuse me, I feel dirty and need to shower now.

I don't care about farmers as long as they leave me alone, but sheesh! Are you all really too lazy to exit your mission, talk to your holocontact, walk over to the terminal, get the same mission again, and repeat it? You're walking what, maybe 10-20 yards in-game and spending maybe 10 seconds (loading time aside)? I'm going to say no to this without even bothering to come up with logical reasons of why it would never be implemented.
This is actually a pretty good idea. What they should do is add an option for arcs to be set as "farm maps," which when completed, will automatically reset.
Then, they just have to ban people who use this option. It's flawless.
Samson,
The devs have explicitly stated they don't want people farming AE missions. Why would they make an option to make it easier to do so?
The only setting farming missions should have is the "Arc Locked" that the customer support team will put on them.
Positron was very clear about how they will be handling farms in the AE.

This one goes out to all those proud mission farmers out there.I support you 100% and willing to play and fight by your side,so I have this idea...
What if there was a setting that made it so that when you have cleared a map completely of enemies, and after killing the last enemy, the map resets itself, ready to be farmed again with all enemies reappearing on the map?You wouldnt have to leave and reset the mish at all!
The end : )
P.S.To all those people who wish to ban farming, and then whine, complain, and resort to farming to level up like a couple of snake-in-the-grass hypocrites because they cant find teams to level up with, this one goes out to all you people....

This is either a troll post...

Yeah.
Either he's just posting this to get a rise out of people.
OR
He seriously thinks this would be a good idea. My opinion on it is pretty clear in the second half of my sentence

Now I have to disagree with this point. From reading 'Abusing Mission Architect'. The farming thread often devolves into discussing Posi's lack of clarity. When asked for further clarification, he refused, citing the point that if people knew exactly what the limit was, they would stand right up next to that line. The only thing he was clear about was:
Egregious abuse in AE might be punished (paraphrased)
Positron's post continues to be held up as a "Thou shalt not farm", yet one begins to realize that much of what he was saying regarded extreme abuses of AE. The developers have dealt with many of the exploits in AE, and the best thing anyone can do if they want to help is identify potential issues and make the developers aware of them. The current hami farm certainly could have been avoided had someone caught it beforehand. (which as a farmer I have yet to run this mission, nor do I know anything beyond something exists). I strongly recommend things like this are brought to the developer's attention so they can be fixed. Removing the possibility is far more effective than any commandment.

I should probably take this moment to talk about what the Mission Architect is not meant for. It is not meant for "easy leveling" or "badging" or "farming". Those are things that we specifically wanted the Mission Architect NOT to do. This may be a disappointment to some, I know. The goal was to give creative minds an outlet to tell the stories they have in their heads. We didn't want the system clogged with Farm missions, so actually finding someone's story that they lovingly crafted became more a chore than it was worth.

We should have freedoms unheard of with this new AE system. We can make a sensible mission with memorable charachters,or we can make a ridiculous mission with goofy charachters that we can farm the heck out of for xp.I play on Virtue with Samson Sledge,or his villainous counterpart,Sovereign Sledge, and with farming happening,it hasnt ever been easier to find teams.Normally, people come online on Virtue(Red Side)to simply squat and loiter in Pocket D,or work on their base,or whatever. If you come online in the COX,you should be in the mood to play in my opinion, not grow cobwebs in the "D" or waste your game time.I do think that these AE farm missions are a great motivator to get players back into the game, and I do hope it stays for a very, very, very long time.

[/ QUOTE ]Here's the thing that this mentality forgets: They are playing the game. Just because it's not how you think it should be played, doesn't mean they aren't playing it, and doesn't mean they aren't having fun... after all, what qualifies as a waste of "your game time"? If you're not having fun/enjoying it, I'd say that likely qualifies... and if hanging out in the D is fun for them, where do you get off on saying they should do otherwise?

If they're working on their base they must have the prestige to do it. So the obvious thought would be that they are teaming and running missions, just not with you.
And you don't like people in Pocket D? And you chose Virtue?

Sorry dude, but your idea would make it possible to get to level 50 without ever leaving a mission.
That would be a horrible thing to add. New players are already being misled into thinking that AE is the whole game.
I can just see the confusion now.
"Okay, we're finally done. Wow! I'm level 50 already!"
"Wait! That was it?! THAT was the whole game?!?"
No way do I ever want to see that scenario.

Sounds dull, but that's opinion-based, so I won't dwell upon it or use it as the basis for disagreement. It shouldn't be that hard for the team leader to get everyone to exit, then run a few feet and grab the same mission.
Without getting into the pros and cons of Farming, this falls under "Not Needed". It wouldn't cause any great detriment to the game to skip the 30 seconds or so of reseting the mission, other than to facilitate farming.
Question: mission complete bonus would ding with every reset?

Bolded section indicates false assumption. Leveling without farming is quite easy, teaming isn't that hard to find and teams aren't needed to level.
LOL LOL yeah obviously. Since every issue seems to add something to make it even easier.. Lets count.. I15.. U can add level limits with a slider... I16.. U can set it to 8 man team with less people in the mission. yeah Posi and the dev are sssoooooo against farming

Adding timers to heavily farmed missions like Dreck?
Adding an Agro cap and a cap on the number of foes affected by any particular AoE attack, including Taunt?
Removing foes (from the AE) that in thier previous forms gave overly large reward for little to no risk?
Anti-farming.
Setting missions to spawn for higher (up to 8) sized teams while smaller (less than 8) sized teams run the missions?
Less need for fillers, fewer bridges and PL'ees. Thus, less PL'ing?
If you can solo a map set for 8, and have a way to set it for 8 while solo (without fillers and such) why add people that will significantly reduce your personal rate of drops? Charity?
I expect less farm-spam in AP and Cap after this, but we will see if that actually happens.

I'm sorry. All I can picture is people going from 1-50 wearing diapers because they never had to leave the mission, not even for a bio. Geez, get out of the farm and get some air.
Edited for context.

That's why I did not make that suggestion.
...
Oh, I see. You either hit the quote button on his post and copy-pasted his suggestion, then backed out and hit reply on mine to insert it there. Or you backed out and put in into the Quick Reply box.
Wouldn't it have been easier to just hit the Quote button on his post and type at the end, rather than all that extra effort to make it look like mine?
I may be a little silly, but I don't come up with that dumb of ideas.
Apologies, BBQ. I did reply to you, but my post wasn't directed at yours. I then edited it to make that clear. I should have quoted the OP in the first place. I usually do, just spaced it this time.
Okay, it's cool.
But, the OP just might sort of get his wish regarding a "Farm Mission Setting" in I-16. With the ability to set your missions for (1-8 person)-sized spawns, even while solo, this would be a farmer's paradise.
No need for fillers (who cut into your drop rates) to pad spawns, so no need for Broadcast farm-spam by the mission holders. There will probably still be some spam by farm-seekers who can't be bothered to find AE missions (or defeat the foes within), but hopefully that will subside a bit after a while.
People are going to farm no matter what. In general, I try to ignore it. But the magic internal reset button in the OP's post is just over the top. I find it ridiculous that some people are so addicted to XP these days that they can't take 30 seconds of downtime to reset a mission.

Sorry, I do want the AE farming to be banned. I don't need to farm it to level up. I play the game as it was intended. When a friend asks me to join them on a farm, I turn off the XP so I don't level up. I've run into too many lvl50s that didn't know how to leave Atlas for me to think that AE farming is good for the game. At least when the farming was in PI people had to find their way to it.
