It's not you or your story. It's the one-star ninja. Things on the Protector boards have been getting one-starred constantly by someone with access to several accounts. So much that we no longer consider the star rating to be any indicator of a thread's quality.
If somebody you're arguing with goes off the deep end, don't follow.
It's been going on so long that it is pretty much a running joke. Like Kid said, no one pays any attention to the rating any more. Perhaps the new boards will make it a bit harder to stay hidden.

But it would have to be more than one person if the story had been holding at two stars for a while.
EDIT: As far as really caring about it, does anyone know if the new boards we're (supposedly) moving to even have the ability to rate threads?

I noticed my story has now dropped to one star, after holding steady at two for quite a while. A couple thoughts on this:
1. If you genuinely read the story and think its bad or offensive in some way, enough to warrant 1-starring it, I would appreciate it if you would leave a comment or send me a pm. Doesn't have to be a big critique.
2. Obviously, most if not all of the threads in this section are getting flattened. I know most people don't really care, but it would be nice this kind of thing weren't the norm. I don't buy that it's one person doing it unless they have multiple accounts.
Does anyone think this issue is something worth pursuing with the moderators? It maybe be possible for them to check who is one starring threads and take some action based on the pattern of behavior?

I have been told more than once that there is no way for them to track it or take action.
Frankly, I don't believe that.
But.. after awhile, you just get to ignore it.
Perhaps with the new forum migration that will fix it.
I don't know if it's possible, but really wonder if there's not some sort of 'bot doing it, because it happens so fast and so consistently.
...But... bc I really hate to see the fiction get hit with that crap, I'll bring in both my accounts and 5 star you right now.

For myself, I've never paid attention to the rating. It doesn't matter if I read/participate in a thread or not.
I hope they do away with it, myself. Since I think MOST people ignore it.
Meh, putting a star ranking on a thread is kinda pointless, I my opinion. There are people that, obvioulsy, feel that they can 'hurt' others by using it. I feel that the thread view number is more telling of a threads popularity.

Not really.
I'll fess up and admit that I've been 5 starring most threads in response to the one stars. And there are many times when I've 5 starred something before it has received any stars.

But mine was less entertaining than yours.
Still, with so many threads dropping below 2 or 3 stars, there is probably more than one bandit, or they have 3 or more accounts, since I'll often use my 2 accounts to 5 star, plus Archiviste doing the same with at least one account...
