Opinions on Leviathan Mastery?

Don't see too many Brutes with Leviathan Mastery and it looks like it is decent. I see there is a longer animation time as opposed to Mu, though. But, Arctic Breath looks pretty sweet. Does anyone like this Patron set?

I don't have it on any of my brutes, but I hear it's great for PvP. Especially the trow sharks attack.

i think cause you cant just respec out of it if you dont like it like you can with hero's not Many Brutes want to take a chance and they just stick with a sure thing well PvE wise

You can respec out of Patrons. It was introduced in Issue 14 IIRC.

The problems with Leviathan Mastery are more about what else is available besides Leviathan Mastery.

Mu Mastery offers two ranged AoEs that aren't cones, meaning less positioning to get the value from them.

Soul Mastery has one good TAoE in Dark Obliteration, a great DPA attack in Gloom, and a huge survivability boon in Darkest Night. It's also got a cone immobilize if you really care about that sort of thing.

And Mace Mastery has the uncanny ability to completely suck, so you wouldn't even take Leviathan Mastery while trying to gimp yourself.

I thought the Immobilize was good? Or is that PvP only with the -Jump?

It was valuable in PvP only, and Leviathan Mastery took that spot with the i13 PvP changes.

Who needs -jump when your single-target ranged attack does over twice the damage, everything causes suppression, and no mez lasts long enough to bother with?

The web immob is good for farming because you can footstomp and they'll be kb'ed even immobed.

That holds true for all of the immobilizes except Electric Fences, though. And I'd much rather just have DN on them if I'm going to waste a long animation to cover a spawn.

The web one is better because it's a targetted AoE and not a cone like the Mako and GW ones. Anyway I agree that MAce Mastery suckin general.

Yeah the Arctic Breath has me interested. The others are right, though.. long animations and cones. Maybe I'm just sick of Mu. Gonna give Levi a try and see if I can roll with it on teams.

To the OP Mako patron is very popular amoung PvPers. Sharks in pvp cause a lot of damage, in mids click the PVP mode button and see the damage it does VS PvE version.

If you don't pvp then the other patrons are prolly better.

Interesting.. Is it just because of the less resisted damage type?

Decent attacks on the cones but take time to set up and a long time to cast.

You can hit footstomp, ball lightning, elec fences and KO blow in the time it would take to cast School of sharks, bile spray and arctic breath. Not to mention the time it takes to make sure the 30 degree cones hit everything.

Time not attacking or lining up cones is time not gaining fury.

Wouldn't attacking from above help with lining up the cone?

This is true in PvE. The main reason [u]most[u] brutes take mako patron is for pvP which is to the answer of the OP. Spirit Shark is a hard hitting pvp attack and it does KB and heavy Lethal damage and DoT. Its higher in pvP because in i13 they changed the rules were powers do more damage based on animation times. Spirit shark was lowered a little bit but is still a hard hitting attack. Since your thread is about Mako Patron I am trying to stay on topic as to why people take it. The answer is simple PVP. If you PvP this is the set for you. If you don't PvP then other patron powers would be better depending on what your looking for. Artic Breath is a good slow but it counters what you want as a brute I think.. To build fury you want to be attacked if you slow them your kinda play against that.. Then again its all on play style..

I have it on my retired pvp now PvE EM/Electric brute since I lack AoE (Footstomp, Fault, tremor) and a heal in the set. Using the slow will allow me to be able to use Aid self. So there are ways to use it in pve depending on play style.

I was pretty sure ranged attacks got nerfed hard? Last I checked my scrappers impale did 93 dmg in pvp....and so did trow sharks, gloom, lightning, etc for stalkers and brutes I thought.

Not sure on the attacking from above. All I could suggest would be take a lvl 50 brute to test and find out. I would but Im too lazy.

Sharks is still pretty strong in pvp. I mentioned in my above post that sharkes got lowered a little bit. Side note* For stalkers I still use the ST ranged Hold to set up AS they also still get criticals out of hide and water spout and hibernation.
It all boils down to Play style, as it comes to Sharks they got nerfed but there still better than the primary or secondary attacks in most cases (alah Flurry and Jump kick still doing more damage than some attacks as well lol *sigh* pvp these days * I will leave it at that.)

Yea they got hit pretty hard but that flying shark still does decent damage. Just much lower DPA.

Well I tried teaming with it and you guys are right. PITA. Gonna respec back into Mu. Just wish I'd thought to use test before burning 2 respecs! :\

I will let you all in on a secret, but prepare for it to be nerfed. Bile spray has no target cap
