Which version should i purchase?
I'd say, between the two, GvE. The Jump Pack is just too useful at the low levels, whereas the AE will give you either Mystic Fortune or Self Destruction, which are both fun, but don't really compare to the Jump Pack.

very cool. great advice. thanks for taking the time!
With architect you get a free boster pack and the 30 days free. You can choose either the magic or cyborg pack.
With good vs evil edition you get the goodies and 30 days free, but any additional booster packs will still cost 9.99. If you plan on getting either magic or cyborg down the line, the best value is the architect.

also... what is the best server to get involved with if i buy it? most action best economy etc...
Personally I'd try to look in the budget bins at retail stores, as you might be able to get Good Vs. Evil for under $10...
If you couldn't I'd still go with either the Good Vs. Evil or Mac Pack (good for PCs, and you still use the same client as the one you are testing with) as their goodies are better.
I'll point out that either way you go, you can get the goodies from the other for $10 more.

well Freedom is the most populated but with high populations you get a higher concentration of people you may not enjoy playing with, just like any mmo. Virtue is the primary Roleplay server.
If you go down to the server forums you can find a good idea of what they have to offer.

GvE for the jump pack is a little bit more helpful, IMO. But, if you know you plan to play for at least two months I would go for both and use the Architect Edition to snag a booster pack (Tech or Magic) that comes with it. Using that edition will give you another free month (worth $15 for only $20 - the booster on its own is $10. Thereby saving you $5 over buying the booster alone).

And getting the GvE booster pack later on will also cost $9.99. Doesn't matter which way you go, he'll get one booster pack for free, and have to pay for the others.

The economy is global across all servers. The only difference would be whether you want to pvp, rp, or other such things. Check the server forums below, for the personalities of each.
I'd also recommend GVE, but in the long run, you're gonna want to buy them all. The codes only change what perks you get individually, not the base game itself. Everyone gets the same game from every single purchase.

Pretty much.

The Magic pack gices you Mystic Fortune, which grants a random buff to an ally for 20 minutes. The Cyborg pack gives you Self Destruction, which... causes you to self destruct (and deal damage to nearby enemies)

cool thanks for all the info!! you all helped a great deal!
Oh, yeah, like I said in an earlier post:
You might find better deals
A new retail version of GvE for $13, which comes with a month, so it is pretty much free.
Edit:
Apparently some retailers are selling it for $4...

I realize that. My assumption is that OP is already choosing GvE (as that was my suggestion for a choice between them). As a result they would already have the free month and the goodies from that Edition. The GvE booster pack is irrelevant in that case. The rest of my reply was was extolling the benefits of having both editions instead of just GvE alone - the 1 free month that comes from the Architect Edition and the ability to choose one of the boosters.

I highly recommend getting the Good vs Evil edition, because I believe the jump pack is the most useful goodie.
That being said if you decide you want the goodies from the other editions I strongly recommend you buy the full editions rather than the goodie pack. This is because the full edition gets you a free months subscription added to your account. Those free months are worth $15. , so you are in effect getting the full edition for $5. bucks.
The Booster packs are goodie packs that contain unique costumes and powers that aren't available and follow a theme. So far we have the Wedding pack, Magic pack, and Cyborg pack. They can be ordered thru the NCSoft online store.
Please be aware that of all the servers Freedom and Virtue are the most heavily populated and during special events they usually hit the population cap. That means you will have a hard time logging onto those servers.
You might want to consider starting out on one of the lower pop servers or at the very least make some spare characters on one or more low pop server so you can still play the game when (not if) you are locked out of Freedom and Virtue.

It's actually best to buy all three full editions.
Total Cost for Architect Edition is negative $5 (20 minus 15 for time minus 10 for the Booster pack it comes with)
Total Cost for Mac Edition would be $5 (20 minus 15 for time)
Total Cost for GvE depends on where you get it. Could be a net negative cost, or net zero cost, or a fiver).
You would be throwing away otherwise perfectly good moola if you just buy one full edition and then buy the in game packs seperately.

There are no groundbreaking or extra amazing powers in any of these sets. That's so that people can't imbalance game play by paying more than the normal folks. But what they do have is a cute perky power and some very nice costume options.

Just to be perfectly clear, if you buy the GvE edition ($20) and then later decide you want one of the goodies from another edition, you can either buy the goodies separately ($10) or buy the edition of the game that they come with and get a month's playtime included ($20 for $10 worth of goodies and $15 worth of subscription time).
Also, be ware of buying anything "used". The game code that comes with the package is only usable once. So if someone bought it, used the code to activate their account, and is now selling the box and disks, you would just be buying the install disks but not the ability to create an account.
Welcome to the Game.
I'm on the verge of purchasing the game. if i get it online i can get either the Architect edition or Good Vs. Evil edition. both are 19.99 and they all have different bonus options. which set of bonus options is best at this point? any thoughts?
