Hmm, good to know about only needing two people. that certianly makes things a lot easier.
I suspect it won't work for khelds though since they can't be invited to pentads, and I suspect the problem is with the septads not awarding. It would be good though to test this by having two non khelds try to get the badge through a septad match, find out if it's a kheld problem or a septad problem.

There are precedents for that however: Force of Justice, Stouthearted, etc. Granted, I'd like a wee bit of bling with all my accolades, but this isn't the first time they've done it.
I'd LIKE to say it fits with the general accolade design (collect X badges for Y accolade), but there are exceptions to that too, like Pocket D VIP Gold Club Member, or VIP.

As Draggynn said setting Pentad matches as "rated" does not seem to be required for them to award the badge. Since that kind of thing matters to some people that's worth pointing out. I've yet to need any of these arena matches be set to "rated" in order for the badges to drop.

Apparently if you actually try to "play" a match for real (as in if you actually fight each other as you are technically supposed to) then the game seems to randomly decide which player will advance in the Swiss regardless of the outcome of the fight.
But if you decide amongst the 8 players who will be the designated "winner" and make sure the other 7 players just quit their matches without combat then you can reliably get the "winner" to win and get the badge.
We sent bug reports in on this assuming anyone would ever want to play these kinds of matches "for real" sometime.

Amazingly enough there are badgers out there who -also- care about PvP.

Clearly it's not -that- bad. The "99.9%" thing was obvious hyperbole on my part. But it is in fact bad enough that any reasonable person would do well to take anything written in Dev documentation with a grain of salt first until verified. I'd certainly never take anything like this at face value at any rate.

you do not need 2 full teams of 5 for the pentad. You can do it with two people who are the same AT. As long as there is at least one person on each team you can start the match.

As tested with my warshade tonight, the badge does not award upon winning a septad match, so I'm guessing it's bugged like the villain pentad/septad? The hero pentad awarded the badge just fine though.

Got all the badges yesterday in one session.
The swiss draw was a little tedious (due to the strict requirement of 8 players) but getting the badges was easy.

I'm glad I read this post since I'd like to get the badges, but can't seem to figure out how to win in PvP so I stay out of the Arena normally.
The one thing I don't get is how to get the lightweight badges? If you select those, do you auto-exemp down? Also, did I read right that for the Pentad, I could possibly get the hero badge just by having two characters of the same AT fight against each other? I don't actually have to have a full team of 5 on both sides as long as all ATs come in twos?

The only way (I know of) to do this is to get two of the same AT since the arena starts filling up the roster from top to bottom (So to get someone on each team you need two with the same AT so that the second of the AT has to be put on the second team). But as long as you have those two, you can probably fill up the rest of the roster as much/little as you want. 5 against 1, for example, should work.

2 of the same type can get the Pentad/Septad badge on Blueside, however it appears bugged for redside.
Also the two do not need to be the same level and you don't need any other arena settings.

I tried to get the badge in a Septad match on my Warshade (two warshades fighting each other). The badge did not award. Several others tried as well with their Khelds and no badges were awarded. The "winner" would defeat the "loser" once. The "loser" would then rez and exit the map just as we had done successfully for the weight class badges. But with the Septad, no badge was awarded to the "winner". How did you get it to work?
BTW: The Pentad matches awarded the badge to non epic ATs with no issue, so the problem seems confined to Septads heroside.

I think nericus said septad/pentad referring to the fact that there is one badge for both, not that it had actually been earned from a septad. No one who has posted has successfully gotten a kheld the badge from the septad yet.

But if you decide amongst the 8 players who will be the designated "winner" and make sure the other 7 players just quit their matches without combat then you can reliably get the "winner" to win and get the badge.
We sent bug reports in on this assuming anyone would ever want to play these kinds of matches "for real" sometime.

I don't recall me saying it was required, I stated what I did to get the badge and what I did that didn't award the badge. So, no rated isn't worth anything to me, but thanks for assuming
But for the record, as stated in the patch notes...
In addition to the above new badges the following Weightclass badges will now correctly be granted to players who win a rated scheduled match!
So if this is true, then the weightclass badges are bugged in 2 aspects.
1. The match doesn't need to be rated.
2. The match doesn't need to be scheduled.
But for the other badges, I did both rated and not rated, and the outcome was the same as my previous post. Villains can not earn this badge for some reason.
